I was so fortunate to have had a JRT. Sweet disposition. Smart! Had 30+ toys, & learned the name of EVERY one that I'd ask her to pull out of toy bowl. Loved swimming too. Became agressive when she she picked up the vibes of BAD strangers. Very protective. She was my family for almost 18 yrs. Miss her. 💖

They are devoted to their masters and mistresses for sure! I had one that needed to be put down after 14 and a half years, in November of 2020. Still tears me up. She was the best dog I ever had. She was also the most rambunctious! But I liked how she kept me on my toes. That little girl ALWAYS watched my back when I did dishes or folded laundry….no one was going to get past her! I think she rescued me more than I rescued her. Best dog EVER!

My jack Russell is 16yr old I've had him since he was 4 or 5 months old and he will not be left home alone, wherever I go, he as to come too, if I have to leave him even for half a hour he will bark constantly and urinate all over, he as bad separation anxiety and follows me everywhere even if I go into another room he'll be right behind me, he weren't even go for walkies with anyone but me but I don't mind, I love him so much he may be 16 but He's still a happy healthy little soldier and as no major health issues other than loosing most of his teeth and slight deterioration in his eyesight and hearing... he as his off days just like we all do. I got a jack russell cross 12 years ago, she was a year old and came with a whole bundle of issues, the best dog I ever owned, half Jack Russell, but Jack through and through, oh my could that dog jump, she lost her year long battle with cushings disease in April this year, my heart was broken, so much that I vowed never to get another dog. Two weeks ago our little chocolate Jack Russell Bunty Boo arrived in our home, a little shivering scrap of a puppy, now a bouncy , lively little girl (this one is daddies girl, the other one was mine more than his) but she knows already who's in charge of the food bowl. Love this breed, lots and lots of love, firmness and attention goes into bringing them up, but oh boy do they leave a big gap when they cross over to doggie heaven...lol course I knew I'd be getting another one, the house isn't the same without them ❤

We have just got a Jack X puppy. We previously had a toy poodle for 15 years. She was so intelligent and easy to train. However, Paddy puppy is the quickest, brightest boy! Loves people. Doesn’t bark unless he wants the toilet or to play. Very confident. ❤️ this little chap. We live near the beach so hopefully he can dig at the beach and not in the garden 😁.

I hope you're enjoying your baby! They are super clever. Ve aware their prey drive kicks in as they get older, from around 1 year old. Rabbits, rodents, guinea pigs, anything small amd fluffy that moves fast is not safe from a JRT. Even watch out for the chase instinct with birds and cats. They are delightful loving crazy beings! If holes in the yard are an issue, fill them with the dogs poop. It works. My boy only digs at the beach. Or for rats.

My dad got us a Jackie for my 15th birthday in January, he's been doing well so far, but as time passed, I noticed how guilty I was after I watched this, their are times where we whip him for chewing on our shoes, now I feel bad for treating him like that as I too did the same actions even when it was my dog
I didn't expect that he didn't like being confined as well I feel like I failed to care for my jackie, he's so sweet, filled with energy, excited and always there to greet us when we get home I would like to know more about how I can properly give my Jackie attention and care he needs tysm fo this video❤

My JR has always had plenty of chew toys, chewing is fun and calming, I always give him the cardboard cores from toilet rolls and kitchen rolls for him to chew, it means I have to pick up the bits of cardboard when he's finished but he never chews anything without permission, if I leave a toy or cardboard tube somewhere for him to find he always brings it to me and drops it, he won't chew it until I pick it up and give it to him. If I didn't give him something to chew he would no doubt chew anything he felt like chewing to satisfy that chewing urge
Hope this helps, all the best. 👍🇬🇧❤️

None of my jacks have ever been afraid of fireworks or thunder. I've had jacks for over 25 years and never had a problem. Love to be petted and always want to lay on or beside me. I do have to crate them when I go to work or leave for something only because of my new girl. She has developed separation anxiety pretty badly and crating her with my 7yo boy has helped a lot. They are jealous of one another but get along pretty well. My boy loves people, little girl has to evaluate. I haven't had a JRT yet that adheres to all of these characteristics that they describe in the video. Every dog is different so even in a breed, you can't just blanket what they will be like.

My Jack Russell runs to the end of a rope by the street to greet people that walk by especially if they have a dog. She usually brings her ball so they can play. And she loves to play with other dogs when people that have dogs stop by it's the only time she barks. Soon there will be a chorus of dogs barking it's actually the only time she barks. Although once during a Christmas special she sang along with Beethoven the Saint Bernard. She also knows a dozen tricks but gets too excited to perform them in front of strangers. Unfortunately once when I was stranded out of town for a surprise car repair I was gone for 36 hours. No one's going to believe this but 36 hours later when I open the door she had to go to the bathroom so bad she made it off the porch but not off the sidewalk and urinated but did not urinate in the house for 36 hours. I was sick for a week so she didn't get to go out for anything except to relieve herself. Fortunately she can play soccer by herself in the house so she did and spent much time by the door standing there looking at me and a few times screaming like only a Jack Russell can in a demand to go out and play. She was remarkably easy to train and everything she learned she took very seriously. She doesn't chew anything except her toys. But until she got old never enjoyed being petted because that meant play time. Now she climbs up on the sofa and demands belly rubs. And sometimes when she wants to treat she'll come over and start to do tricks and then demand to be paid on treats immediately. The only normal thing she does is have a hatred of cars and loud noises and hates the 4th of July with a passion.

This confuses the heck out of me, my Dad has a Jack Russell and he's the best dog but none of these things fit except for that he likes attention. He loves being cuddled anytime, all the time. He doesn't mind if he's alone, he sleeps, plays with his toys, sleeps, goes for a walk in the yard, sleeps. No digging, no barking, he's totally chill with it. Loves strangers, will bark to alert if one comes to the door but then just wants them to pat him or play with him. I think that's Dad's reaction to the strangers, they're never there for bad reasons, if Dad was not happy that they were there I think he would behave differently. Likes the water. Dad has a small house and a small garden. He loves it. He doesn't do anything destructive and he's not anxious or bored. He's extremely smart and he loves to play but he's just as happy to lie on you and sleep and be cuddled and he's still young, only just stopped being a pup, it's not like he's super calm because he's old. He's just a cool dog. Probably the best dog I know, love him to bits.

OK wonderful dog-intelligent, loving, possessive, energetic. But we're having problems. I don't know what to do and don't have thousands of dollars for behaviorists. We have an 8 yo border collie mix, 7 yo jack russell and a 5 yo boxer lab mix. The 2 older ones are getting into fights. They have had 5 fights over about 5 years. Vicious terrifying fights - not just growling - biting. We keep them separate - if they are with me I take turns one loose and one in their crate. The jrt had some ear infections that I thought aggravated the issue. We brought het to the vet and even a vet specialist for allergy and Dermatology. The last two during this summer were not related to an ear infection. What can I do?

When walking my jr i met a woman with a jr cross border collie, absolutely gorgeous dog the size of a border collie but the head and coat of a jack Russell.
