@@andresomerville4896 but it's very unlikely if you look at the reason a lot of the writing is as "woke" (I hate using that word) as it is. All stems down to the creator's political views and commentary (as seen by the amount of times they bring up white males being disproportionately better off and the whole freaking ending being "you'll be so much happier in the body of a rich white dude because society favours them"). There's so many better ways to add messages into shows, especially adult ones, without blatantly just explaining everything to the audience like they're 3 year olds...
They left the baby outside the house? Sorry but, does the writer or creator has a grudge against a stepmother/step-sister or something? That is the one reason I can imagine someone being so spiteful against characters that did nothing to anyone, as some kind of (pathetic) surrogate revenge. Btw, your hair looks awesome.

I grew up with Scooby. I wanted to give this a shot, but Velma was just painful from the start. My condolences for all time lost to anyone who sat through the whole thing. I fear someone sold their soul to get a second season.
Don't forget how the mother "married a rich guy, and its thanks to her she made them rich" Also her whole motive is based on the fact she failed as a mother and is blaming her kid for it.
Y'know, given how everyone is dunking on Velma, I have to let this out. Velma is just another bad adult animated show in a sea of them. I completely understand how hardcore Scooby-Doo fans utterly despise this show, and I'm not saying they are wrong for feeling that type of way. Scooby Doo, the MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE FRANCHISE, isn't in the show, the characters are completely bastardized to hell and back and it's just so mean-spirited and cynical. There is a whole lot to hate about Velma. But, in the grand scheme, it's also important to remember that this show, while leaving a massive stain on the franchise, will never take away the amazing adventures from the Scooby Doo projects from before. Scooby Doo is a long-running franchise that's had it's ups, downs and all arounds over the course of decades. And if Velma has done any semblance of good in this world, it's that it united people from around the web to unanimously agree that it's not good, like at all. On top of that, it got people to look back on the old Scooby Doo projects that deserve recognition, like Mystery Incorporated. Again, I'm not saying anyone is wrong for hating Velma. It really does suck. But what I will say is that Velma's just another bad adult animated show in a laundry list of them. And Scooby Doo has had many amazing adaptations beforehand that we can appreciate all the more since Velma reminded us why people love Scooby Doo in the first place. So don't waste your time with Velma. It's not even worth it.
@@BabyGirlTinyTrue that first thing may be, but on the second point, as executive producer and VA of the main character and thus face of the show, she is not absolved of anything here regardless. Even if she didn't type it, it carries her essence through and through.
i dont get only one think why people say that Velma solved the mystery is she never in this show did that? Fred, Daphne and Norvill were the only ones who did that and Velma just get the credits.
"If the logo was on the glasses, she should have recognized the logo" Mate, I can't believe you're making me defend Velma of all things, but as a lifelong glasses wearer, I can tell you: The last person who would be able to tell you what is inscribed, engraved, or otherwise emblazoned on a pair of glasses is the person wearing them, because the entire point of glasses to us is that we look clear through them. I actually had to take my pair off and examine them when you brought it up, and this pair I've been wearing for three years now apparently has a nice little simple mosaic up near the elbow on the arms. First I'm learning of them.
I wouldn’t have actually been so bothered by Fred’s mother being the villain if they used the art of subtlety, having her secretly drawn in the background (kind of like Where’s Wally?) as a clue for the audience. Also, serial killers often comes back at the scene of the crime to “admire” what they’ve done and getting an adrenaline rush. Idk, I watch a lot of whodunnit shows and movies and love these subtle moments. Velma twerking pretty much just sums up the show.
All these points are completely spot on- except the inscription on the glasses. If you have to wear glasses for poor vision, the logo on your glasses is one of the last things you're gonna pay attention to 😆
Ok I know this cartoon is a hot disaster and I'm probably (hopefully) looking too deep into this but I noticed something I find rather alarming with the whole brain swap thing. With Fred's mother wanting to put Velma's brain into a white man could be read as "you're nothing unless you're a rich white man" which couldn't be further from the truth. Like I said I hope this is a reach but it's something I did notice.
Have you watched the show Mystery Incorporated? It's also about the scooby doo gang, except it's live action and also set in modern day. It aired a few years ago. And they got Scooby.
I bet this would’ve done better, if instead those changes they made, were instead friends original Velma and the crew knows. Like… I thought of something already, where “Black Velma” (as I call her) is instead a long time friend of OG Velma named “Edna Verik” who has more frizzy hair, but in the same sort of style, and it’s a bit longer. She was introverted just like Velma, before she gained enough self confidence to spruce herself up, and slowly try to become a fashion designer. Instead the show itself would be these newly established characters helping Velma become more self confident before she became part of the Mystery Gang, and went on adventures with the others. Something along those lines.
Honestly, this wouldn't have been *that* bad of a show if the characters just weren't already from Scooby Doo. There was no point in taking those characters and changing them. They were fine. I suspect that if they just didn't try to alter already existing characters with this plot, it would've been hated way less.
It's such a shame because the animation, the character designs, the background art is all pretty cool. I watched the show and I was like.... man the writing is not for these characters. I think everyone's personalities in the show are so random and off from their "trademarks" that it becomes too distracting. Idk it felt like more of a parody of the Mystery Gang characters? Unless that was the point?
*Can we all hate the fact that MINDY HERSELF. WAS ACTUALLY THE VOICE ACTOR OF DISGUST FROM INSIDE OUT!?? I can't... look at Disgust the same way anymore...
yeah! scooby was only mentioned as a cancelled project the old scientist (dr perdue) was working on, since there's a season 2 apparently we might see something regarding scooby....or not..who knows any of these things
Yes! Everyone needs to do this. The show was ordered with two seasons, not three. Next season will determine whether this trash continues on. Apathy works a lot better in cancelling shows than outrage and hate watching.
Velma was my favorite character from the Scooby-Doo franchise growing up. I looked up to her so much as a girl with glasses myself it made me happy. This whole show it was like I was slapped in the face, kicked in the stomach, then had hot soup thrown on me. Such a disastrous disappointment
You're right about all of this Can we at least agree to not watch the second season? None of us should torture ourselves, much less give it any attention Watching it means it will keep airing
Velma was green lit for a second season before episode three aired, besides there wasn't enough people hate watching on HBO max to get the ratings needed to for them to keep it going normally so no way are we going to see a third season of this leftists hate mongering.
this show seems like it would be a lot better if the characters weren't so mean to each other. you could even leave in the wypipo jokes, just make the gang LIKE each other
I watched a video of "Velma's best moments," and 10 seconds into it, my head began to hurt with shooting pains inside my skull, screaming at me to stop.
Remember class, anything can be art. Except what Mindy Kaling did. Mindy helped make something that attacked the collective cultural tapestry of our species. Mindy has created the opposite of art.
So wait, the killer took the brains of 'meddling teens', so that they could brain-swap it with soldiers so they could spread 'awareness of war' and draft the teens to participate in military? Although yeah, it doesn't have vocal cords, so it's not making any sense. Unless you place them inside a body... a cyborg body.
I feel like Velma is just Never Have I Ever but even worse. An awful, self centered, arrogant and selfish main character who blames anyone but herself, and butts into everyone’s drama because she thinks she’s entitled to, and uses the fact that she’s an Indian woman to try and “call out” the world for not giving her what she wants. Now guess if I’m talking about Devi or Velma.
I think the show is kinda misunderstood. I kinda started to jive with it about half way through. 1)Lump it in with "Married With Children" & "Always Sunny In Philadelphia" as a cast of entirely unlikable punching bags that bad things happen to. 2)Remember that Scooby has a Multiverse & the animators wanted to see just how alternate this universe could be. 3)Think of it as a Troll. It did representation so bad that the LGBTQ+ said it was a right-wing psyop parody. Still... There is the possibility that it was like how "Dinosaur Planet" was retooled into "Star Fox Adventures" & was an original series concept only greenlit if it was retooled into Scooby, which would honestly make me think considerably less of it.
This show feels like every episode is a different draft of another focus entirely hastily rewritten in attempt to make consistent. Like Velma's varying degrees of intelligence, regressing character development, the heart attacks, Fred in general. The writers' table had to been a mess honestly.
6:17 GOSH this mess of character is really a freaking self insert, look at what is written there "Future TV Writer" Is there a word that mixes vomiting, infuriate and cringe? Because I'm feeling all of those things after hearing your summarization of those episodes. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

After watching this video, i do not regret not continuing to watch the show :>
dad jokes are wayyyy funnier than whatever was in velma...atleast 98% of all the "jokes" fell flat, the remaining 2 just sounded good because everything else was just so sooo bad
Velma is the epitome of EVERYTHING WRONG with western entertainment and a textbook example of what happens when you bring in a cast and crew with NO LOVE or RESPECT for the source material, its community, or the medium in general.
jeez... so much hatred toward each other in this show that its not even comfortable to watch! this is not even funny ironic kind of hatred anymore, it just.. hate and hate back to back...
If they were going to lie, why couldn’t they have lied that the stepmother and the baby were just renting a room from Velma’s dad? That would have explained why they were there and it would have been realistic enough that they wouldn’t have needed to tell more and more lies. Also, why was Daphne painted as bisexual and then Velma was surprised that she displayed interest in both men and women? This show had zero thought put into it. Actually, there was one thought put into it- the thought on how to be as disgusting as possible.

Velma's mom just kinda looks like a palette swap of Rose from Steven Universe and it really bothers me lol
😆
i've never even watched SU, but i thought the exact same thing
There's a fan made scooby doo episode on RUclips (live action)
They have a better understanding and respect for the source material. Even with putting their touch.
This was modest with flaws, The velma was annoying but cute annoying not rude and mean. And Every characters has a define personnalities and goals.
What video?
There are also velma meet original velma and not my velma... If you like animation and horror i think you will like this
this show has shattered my sanity
😢 sorryyyy!! i endured for you
the step mom sophie is amazing as a character if you know she helps velma a lot but all she gets is getting kicked out and even fred who tried to find a different path he only wants to impress his parents but now either of them cares and those stuff make it bad....
I hope mindy which he won't do is to literally make the show better in season 2
I'm sorry you had to endure this. I couldn't bare to get past two episodes. And I already was skipping through the second one...
🥲🥲🥲I did it for you
I feel the only brain in a jar is the AI that wrote the finale
lmaooo!!!
I grew up with Scooby. I wanted to give this a shot, but Velma was just painful from the start. My condolences for all time lost to anyone who sat through the whole thing. I fear someone sold their soul to get a second season.
Don't forget how the mother "married a rich guy, and its thanks to her she made them rich"
Also her whole motive is based on the fact she failed as a mother and is blaming her kid for it.
How Mindy still managed to earn the national medal of art ?
WTF
What that tells me is the award means nothing
She got it in 2021 when this show wasn’t a thing. But y’all keep saying this but then also ignore the fact that Mindy didn’t write Velma
@@BabyGirlTinyTrue that first thing may be, but on the second point, as executive producer and VA of the main character and thus face of the show, she is not absolved of anything here regardless. Even if she didn't type it, it carries her essence through and through.
thank you for your sacrifice my man 🙏
🥲you’re welcome
i dont get only one think why people say that Velma solved the mystery is she never in this show did that? Fred, Daphne and Norvill were the only ones who did that and Velma just get the credits.
At this point, I kind of feel that if they really wanted to subvert our expectations...what they actually need to do is 'not suck.'
Omg it's the last jedi meme all over again:
They subverted our expectations of a good product
"If the logo was on the glasses, she should have recognized the logo"
Mate, I can't believe you're making me defend Velma of all things, but as a lifelong glasses wearer, I can tell you: The last person who would be able to tell you what is inscribed, engraved, or otherwise emblazoned on a pair of glasses is the person wearing them, because the entire point of glasses to us is that we look clear through them.
I actually had to take my pair off and examine them when you brought it up, and this pair I've been wearing for three years now apparently has a nice little simple mosaic up near the elbow on the arms. First I'm learning of them.
I had to replay the scene of her twerking in front of a corpse a few times because I was (and still am) in utter disbelief
You have to wonder about how the Scooby Doo franchise owners feel about having endorsed this thing
0:50 that blood soaked dance mad me sick, especially the face. “Prestige”
My favorite part of each episode is when it ended
when the credits rolled lmaoo
i disagree, i mean think about it haters of the show wanted the finale because its the last episode for a while
lmaoooo well that's another way to look at it
I wouldn’t have actually been so bothered by Fred’s mother being the villain if they used the art of subtlety, having her secretly drawn in the background (kind of like Where’s Wally?) as a clue for the audience.
If you have to wear glasses for poor vision, the logo on your glasses is one of the last things you're gonna pay attention to 😆
What.. Was that ending bro 🧍♂️
bruhhh like ...side eye..side eyeeeeeee
@@MohammedAgbadi the whole plot should bad just stay in the drafts at this point ✋🏽
I watched the first episode and the thought of watching more . I like the style and that’s a bummer it’s really bright and colourful 😢
Yeah it makes me sad to see a pretty nice art style wasted on a show like this.
Imagine having to animate this? Lol especially if you don't get the scenes in order
It's not live action it's animated but it's the best version of the Scooby Doo gang hands down
I forgot this show was a thing.
Bruh I just forced myself to finish it
@@MohammedAgbadi Painful. Just painful. How many times did you have to stop and recollect yourself before starting back? lol
@@KeriaArtJourney lmaoooo I could only watch 2-5minutes at a time lmaooo I was taking breaks A lot!
@@KeriaArtJourney it was so dumb! Gosh
@Mohammed Agbadi thank you for your service 🫡🙏🏾
I've watched another channel's commentary on this show and one of them said that this is basically a soap opera
That's an insult to soap operas. Soap operas are better-written than a mean-spirited piece of drivel like Velma.
Fun fact:
Here in Holland they didn't even bother to translate it to Dutch.
And the subtitles are barley accurate.
Good
My ancestors have been spared, praise be to box office laziness!
UGH The velma show was disappointing, especially since they didn't add scooby doo
yeah! scooby was only mentioned as a cancelled project the old scientist (dr perdue) was working on, since there's a season 2 apparently we might see something regarding scooby....or not..who knows any of these things
@Mohammed Agbadi Oh! that's very interesting, Thank you for telling me!
Can we all please agree to not watch the season 2? This trash doesn't need anymore attention. 😭
Yes! Everyone needs to do this. The show was ordered with two seasons, not three. Next season will determine whether this trash continues on. Apathy works a lot better in cancelling shows than outrage and hate watching.
I'll say this: the mystery was intriguing. The motive reveal made me lose faith in humanity all over again.
I've watched things like Higurashi but that scene had to be 100x more gory
This shit sounds like a bad dream 💀😭
Velma was my favorite character from the Scooby-Doo franchise growing up. I looked up to her so much as a girl with glasses myself it made me happy. This whole show it was like I was slapped in the face, kicked in the stomach, then had hot soup thrown on me. Such a disastrous disappointment
Velma: The Worst Series That Nobody Wanted. PERIOD.
lmaoooooo
You're right about all of this
Can we at least agree to not watch the second season? None of us should torture ourselves, much less give it any attention
Watching it means it will keep airing
Mindy has created the opposite of art.
the twerking part is such a "how do you do fellow kids" moment
Damn, squarespace has their tracks everywhere. Every artist I follow has at least one video sponsored by squarespace.
3:18 Because it doesn't work like that. The brain has no vocal cords.
I just wanna know what Mindy's goal was while making this
I feel like Velma is just Never Have I Ever but even worse.
Seems like they wanted to somewhat make an animated version of get out 😭 Fred’s mom was literally doing what the family in get out was doing
I'm 8 minutes in, and my brain hurts, and I"m having chest pains.
I've never even seen the show...but its....so...frustrating.
How could she see the logo if she's basicly blind without glasses?
6:17 GOSH this mess of character is really a freaking self insert, look at what is written there "Future TV Writer"
Is there a word that mixes vomiting, infuriate and cringe? Because I'm feeling all of those things after hearing your summarization of those episodes.
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
The sad thing is, now she might not even get to voice disgust in the inside out sequel and when characters have different voices suddenly, it just ruins the movie experience for me and I'm really mad that she ruined one of my fav childhood characters and then this causes more issues for the future
9:59 At least on the point of April being “blackwashed”, she was actually originally a black women in the og comics. No, I’m not making this up.
15:15 Bro? Deflecting bullet? Even the presence of the series in someone's video makes brain hurts.
Edit: Not only he deflected a bullet with a shitty homemade sword with questionable integrity, but he managed to deflect the bullet with the velocity that able to break a stalactite big enough to unalive a grown person. What is this? Minecraft?
In short: it could have been good... if it was a completely different show. 😏
i'm sorry for my bad english
I would really like to see a version of Scooby Doo from LavenderTowne, she redesigned and rewrote the characters. She did it in a way that makes sense, and manages to be more mature.
Shaggy is nearly blind and Scooby is like his guide dog, so Scooby finds clues and is a big help without needing to be a talking animal. I thought it was a really cool idea.
The title of the video is ''redesigning scooby doo bc velma is awful'' from LavenderTowne
Let’s be honest this whole world is doomed, this little cartoon was the last thing to wake y’all up 😂 it was amazing
😅
Didn't even watch the show but any hope I could have had for the show was fucking nuke into oblivion when velma called the cops on norville's dad because he had a welding helmet which are pretty fucking common
The blood looks like ketchup
Ngl I think the twerking over the dead body is the funniest part of the show
It seemed like they were trying to do what Harley Quinn and Star Trek Lower Decks did but missed the mark.
when i first saw the trailer for Velma i was really excited... until i saw first 15 minutes of the pilot episode and was extremely disappointed by character lore breaks, awful jokes that are way worse than dad jokes, and complete lack of character depth.
I genuinely hope that there aren't people like Velma in real life
Scooby will reset the universe
I binged s1, while working on commas, and found that, I don’t pay attention to what is going on, it is actually a good show.
jeez... so much hatred toward each other in this show that its not even comfortable to watch!
this is not even funny ironic kind of hatred anymore, it just.. hate and hate back to back...
I like watching your video because it gives me the least amount of stress in reviewing this show.
She got some kind of medal from the Arts from the President, whoever Mindy is jacking under the table must have dirt on everyone.
I never watched Velma but seen her appearance and personalities like her smart being changed knowing that this Scooby Do Franchaise will be a Complete Failure and Brain Injury to all Scooby Do Fans
