Transmogs ended up being more fun than I expected
I’m loving how alt friendly it is, and levelling with the dungeon finder and heirlooms is an absolute pleasure. I wasn’t expecting to be playing as much as I am.
Agreed, full heirlooms and dungeon finder with the new dungeon layouts/quest givers at start of them is good, also enjoying 85 content too of course :D
Didn't think I'd enjoy it but it's the gameplay for me. It's absolutely brilliant. Healing especially is fantastic this expansion.
Oh yeah... the rotations are great and I'm really enjoying healing as well.
Cata has been great so far, sort of remembering why I felt cata was my favourite expansion of all time. Honestly, at his stage in life I go to the gym 4-5 days a week, have a girlfriend and a life outside of video gaming - so having the ability to just leave the game for a day or two and not "miss out" on anything is great.

@@fireandice1860 , it is the most alt friendly expansion WoW has ever had. There are not endless grinds of "chores" to do so that hopefully you will get to actually have fun in a game doing what you want. The emblem system is the simplest it has EVER been, reforging and great catch up mechanics mean you don't fall behind, and the addition of an increased cap of valor/conquest based on TIME since release means it's never too late. I got an alt up to cap in a bout a week (the heirlooms are great for this and you can get some when leveling up your first toon from guild rep as well as the darkmoon faire), and after a few days of running heroics I'm now raid ready minus bracers that won't drop.
I started playing cata on a private server back in 2012, so fucking fun, now being in the real servers its been a blast, enjoying a lot the raids, pvp and professions
I LOVE being able to raid log. It's why I don't really do retail anymore.
^This! I'm so sick of spending time in a game you pay for doing the digital equivalent of the dishes in hopes that maybe you'll have time to do something you enjoy. If you have extra time to spend in Cata, it is the most alt friendly expansion in the history of the game and class design of Cata/MoP is the peak IMO. There are so many things I want to do and play that I know I won't have time for it all. This is why I hope they don't rush it.
Firelands was one of the best raids in WoW imo. It will be fun to prog that on Heroic :)
I’ve really enjoyed Cata. You hit the nail on the head about being able to play other stuff, while still enjoying cata. I’ve been prepping for The War Within while still popping into cata and enjoying myself immensely

Cleared the raids a few times and yeah, nah, logged out 3 weeks ago and haven't bothered to go back

I really gave it an honest try- I leveled, ran heroics, did a raid or two. It just doesn't scratch that "classic" itch for me. Which is on me, not the game- there are a lot of things Cata got right, but enough core Classic elements are gone. I suspect many of the "OG Trilogy only" fans feel a bit homeless at the moment, having played all 18 versions of Vanilla but nothing in sight in terms of new TBC or LK servers.
Enjoying pvp and a bit of raiding, got 2 characters at 85 and being able to catch up on valor and conquest is great

I haven't raided yet just enjoying the leveling experience again and haven't touched my 80 level toons just so i can start fresh and do all the new quests since the world has changed.
My only complaint, which is small, is that I can't use old heirlooms after lvl 80

I too would like to see them adjust the strumph of loot.
I personally hope they do this to the other heroics as well; with 4.1 we go from a nice amount of dungeons to being funneled into two heroics. Don't get me wrong, they are great dungeons, but we can't have LESS content as the expansion goes on, so I hope they make previous tiers relevant. Heck, even if they just adjusted the item levels of the gear that drops that would be perfect for everyone and make catch up/alts even faster.
Cata is just perfect im really enjoyed it
been having a good time in our 10 man. Nef, council, and sinestra were fun challenges to prog through and work on. That's not to say everything else was a cakewalk, but i enjoyed these 3 bosses actually posing a good bit of challenge. Still having a very good time logging in with the bois and smashing 10 man once a week.
If zul aman is exactly like the tbc raid I'd do a run every day😊 za just felt so chill back in the day
It's the exact same thing, only the last boss looks different (but does the exact same thing) b/c zul'jin is dead 😂 Oh and the bear ia a recolor of the original mount.
The two troll dungeons are fantastic and challenging (at least on private servers that I've played). I do hope they up the ilvl of the other dungeons to match... otherwise we get funneled into only two dungeons and then in three with the last patch. Ideally it should feel like content is ADDED on and not lost.
I absolutely love PVP in Cata and MoP. I’m like 6 characters deep fully geared with professions trained. Highest is 2100 in 3s and everything else is between 1900-2100. We’re chillin having fun and just reliving some memories. ❤
Enjoying Cata for sure, but the lack of attention it has been getting from Blizzard is extremely concerning. We've been trying to get an answer for why we haven't been able to mog GM gear for 2 months now and we've heard nothing. We've also had one blue post in the last two weeks and that was them saying they fixed the bounce achievement in Hyjal...
replaying it casually. I raid 2 times a week on a couple toons and spend the rest of my time outside of wow. my journey on official wow started in original cata so everything is familiar but fun. still..i dont see myself doing t11 till october. guess im gonna take a break for retail and come back for the firelands patch.
From gameplay point of view Cata was always a great xpac… the biggest problem and the thing people remember is underwhelming Dragon Soul and over 1 year being stuck there 😅
When is the next phase coming?
Knew what I was signing up for, haven’t had a single complaint. Always said it was wrongly criticized, happy to see the warm reception to what I always considered one of the best raiding tiers for progression
Make secondary professions social , group fishing group archaeology group first aid activities, they have so much to refurbish yet they don’t see it. Make the game more social besides just the combat related stuff.
I'm enjoying it to be honest, been getting a few characters up to max, been raiding heroic, my server (mirage raceway EU) is pretty busy all the time.
I always was and still am waiting for MoP because it's one of my favourites, but this is decent enough, i logged on retail the other day for the first time since the start of dragonflight and the world just felt empty, i felt alone to be honest and just went straight back to classic.
As for SoD, i played a bit on P1 but i have no interest at all playing it at all.

I was hoping for more of a prepatch experience, but cata has been fun for sure. I havent even started raiding yet, im just enjoying the new zones, a few dungeons, but mostly, I've been hunting achievements.

I've seen on private servers where they allow EVERYONE on the quest to get the quest items off of a boss kill... that way each person can work on it instead of having to choose a single person and everyone else is mad.
Haven't played in years and I'm thinking of resubbing when firelands comes out! Does anyone know when the best time for that would be?

Way more engaging that wowlk phase 1. Only part I hated was archaeology but once I simply stopped trying to get the sword I started to enjoy the game a lot more
Yep same for me with archaeology being the only thing I hated... never got any of the items I ACTUALLY needed, but at least I have my cool fossilized raptor mount.
Only raiding as Spriest, no alts, still enjoying cata but agree not much else content wise. However I've taken to solo speedruns of old raids (Kara, MC, AQ) which is great fun to route and even challenging - cannot quite clear AQ40 yet!
I think it's pretty fun because PvP is incredible tbh, it has something for everyone, I am a very CASUAL PvPer but I'm having fun gearing and playing with my friends. PvE has been accessible but I don't know.. I haven't raided yet. I'm gonna probably hop on SoD on Thursday because I enjoy the aesthetic of Classic raiding more.
To this day, I believe they should’ve included ZF into the mix with the ZG & ZA raid

Having fun with P1 so far. Only raiding one 1 toon atm but I am also raiding in SoD, so I am very ok with less to do in Cata. Especially with P4 in SoD dropping tomorrow, the last thing I need is a rep to farm or something.
Clearing 8/13 HM on 3 characters in pugs. Leveling my mage. Pretty much enjoying the game.
Would be cool if they dropped Firelands in October and DS in January
The game has been great so far. The only negative is a personal one - I'm constantly tired and struggle to keep up with 'chores'. But I'm not really suffering for not doing it, all so that's good - I'm still raiding and still blasting the meters.
Well this is the expansion that has the LEAST chores, and with the addition of a rolling cap based on time from release it is pretty easy to catch up by running heroics.
I would have liked if this phase was quicker to clear the raids. 4 hrs to full clear with some heroics is a lot of time across multiple chars.
I’m one of those people who quit like 5 raids in. Been playing since classic started. I just felt like it was a chore to attend raids. I would rather enjoy summer and play single player games that I can just pause as needed. Really happy about my decision.
Wait, in all the Cataclysm videos's comment sections there are only people meat riding Cataclysm saying how it changed their lives and cured their cancer, how did you end up here?
My 10 man raidgroup is currently at 9/13 Heroics. Hopefully we will get 10 or even 11 done today. Our Gear is also looking good at around 361ish averaged.
The amount of loot is pretty disappointing on the other hand. Especially if we DE one or even both items that drop, there isnt much of a progress... hope that will change

TBC-Cata-Wotlk. Cata was fun now it’s dragging probably wait until firelands than I’m done. Curious what direction we going after, maybe panda and that’s it hopefully, we need era servers and seasonal cycle of vanilla to wotlk or something
While I'm overall enjoying, the glitches are ridiculous. I don't remember this many the first time it was released, and now, years later, they can't get it right? I still like it, despite that, though!
Exactly... I mean some private servers do a better job and have added features like racial swap, crossfaction, etc. The game feels too good at this point for them to put so little effort into it. I was hoping the "some changes" would include revamping Dragon Soul and adding world content with 4.3... but atm they can't seem to fix small bugs and live up to the quality when it was live let alone improve what was already there.
I know for me, there are SO MANY different things I'd love to level up and play both in PvE and PvP that I don't have time to do it all... I'd prefer it if things weren't rushed. What I love about this expansion is there are not endless grinds and there is minimum upkeep; you can play as much or as little as you have time for. I spend WAY more time doing things I actually enjoy than spending time on what amounts to chores so that hopefully I can get to have fun in a game.

As someone who thinks TBC is peak wow.. yeah I agree. I quit phase 1 wrath after doing Naxx twice. I’ve been having fun with cata, haven’t raided yet though
@@benjitheband5661 the raids are awesome. Difficulty is spot on I think, at least for non hardcore guilds. Heroic progression has been steady and exciting.

As someone who picked up WoW specifically due to WoTK being re-released (couldn’t convince parents to buy a sub at the time) I was expecting to cancel after cata started but I’m definitely holding on until the end of the expansion to quit

Already seen many guilds fall apart because of everyone has to choose 10 OR 25 man raids
My only issue with the game right now is strictly RNG. Ive cleared every raid with my 10 man team every week since they released. But somehow ive only gotten 2 drops the entire time. Plus our raid comp isnt exactly the best it could be, but we still clear everything every week. But unfortunately the only plate that ever drops seems to be Holy Pally stuff (which we dont have). Plus being a Blood DK means I have to roll against almost half my roster for my tier gear plus 2 warriors for weapons... and using the MS>OS+1 means nobody is prio on gear. Ive basicalylly been stuck at 355ilvl for the last month and a half... And since no melee or plate gear ever drops, we cant really do a majority of the heroic bosses because our DPS is lacking. Love this xpac but rng is royally screwing our team 😅 weve got a ton of enchanting shards tho lmao

I like having time to do other things like right now I'm doing the Remix, and I've never played retail before so it was def an incentive to try it out, and honestly it's a lot of fun. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get to that like the Cinderella story but surprisingly enough I wasn't a complete slave in Cata and got my main and an alt set and my professions on several alts done. FYI I do really like Cata bc of the updated areas and going back to older dungeons with harder content is great! My main complaint is stats getting rid of Armor Pen, really???? Uggg but other than that for the most part I can commend the devs for all the hard work they did after WRATH and you can see on many aspects that they thought about a lot. It's kinda crazy to go into retail like the Remix right now and see where all this goes...think ima go for the best of both worlds and try to swing both.... hopefully I will continue to have time for both I still have a raiding toon on SoD but im not going to push that envelope. That one is def the time sink, so for anyone who thinks there isn't anything to do right now just wait for SoD as I'm sure u will be grinding till ur eyes bleed lol.
As someone who just came back to the game a few days ago and started a brand new character because my previous server was locked and dead, I’m personally kind of worried with how fast the schedule is for Cata. I’d love to atleast see all of tier 11 in LFR/Normal if possible before tier 12. But being a normie I don’t have a ton of time to play

So far Cataclysm has been my favorite xpac. I never played it back in the day, and I'm loving it.
Im enjoying it but i wish we had a few more quality of life changes
Just feels like Blizzard is doing the bare minimum. We never really got those #changes that they 'announced' at blizzcon besides a few quality of life changes that were just rolled over from wrath and store trash. We could have had more raids like the water one, or a redone deathwing but its just going to be more of the same, with predicted classes rising and falling.
Also imagine how much better this expansion would feel with a "timeless isle" type world content dropped with 4.3... Cata has a ton of potential to fix the few glaring issues it had and it's frustrating how little time they are putting into it.
1:50 tbc had worse content than cata? Just to be clear, you are saying the content in cata is better than Karazhan?
I don't recall having to "prog" Karazhan. The raid is good, but there isn't much to look forward to week to week if all the content simply falls over

Cata is a blast. Very underrated expansion. I'm done raiding in p1. I'm just here to experience all the content at least once.

Cata is the best after vanilla and tbc imo. The combat is great (as in, rotations/abilities etc), the raids/fights are amazing (at least until DS lol) and the pvp is actually really good. But a lot of people really don't like Cata and it's starting to show. Our guild is struggling to keep up 25 man and we are probably transitioning to being a 10 man guild, because for the first time since the guild launched in vanilla we are having too much trouble recruiting new people to keep up with the attrition. The playerbase is shrinking.
The biggest downside for me is that there's just nothing to do outside of raiding/pvp. Vanilla and TBC always had shit to do for me. Cata just has me raidlog much more than Vanilla/TBC ever did :P I'm really enjoying Cata, I hope everyone reading this does too
Personally I'm glad there are less "chores" to do... I feel like I spent most of my time before doing things I hated doing so I can have a chance to do the things I actually enjoy. This is also the most alt friendly expansion in the history of the game, at a point where rotations peaked in Cata/MoP. If you have extra time and enjoy alts that is more than enough to possibly be able to do it all.
This patch was always one of the best in the history of WoW. Cata crashes hard in Firelands when everyone is hard stuck at 6/7H, and hates life farming molten front dailies on their 5 alts they leveled because leveling got nerfed so hard.
I play super casually but I feel like there is a lot of gatekeeping going on for raids. New players struggle to get into raids because everyone wants the highest ilvl and achievements.
LFR would be nice 😅

Alot of people quit i feel like my guild has same number of people but we had 15 ppl sign up to a raid the next week we had 7 i think alot of people wanted to play with people but the player base is super unfriendly. Trying to run a raid but i have 359 gear and cant do heroic with out heroic exp. So getting into a group is so hard without exp. I’m m behind the curve… then i go into a pug and kill like 6 heroics. The players were super un welcoming and if people didnt get a spot early it was hard to find one. I think alot of people grinded to max lvl then didnt have a raid spot reached out couldnt get into a raid. Or tried to raid then quit. Idk i had to perservere some bad raids and bad attitudes and probly like four u don’t have heroic exps. It was a super grind to raid wothout a group or team. I can see alot of solo chara just stop logging in

I enjoy not being pressured to be forced playing the game. It's fine how it is, but i dont see myself playing Dragonsoul that much. I dont think people who struggle with 365 gear in Hc will kill them with 378 or higher, since some bosses are not gear dependent, like Council or Sinestra.
Im glad the cata hate is going away. Ppl are realizing how good Cata is and how good most specs feel. Been having a blast in areans.
Cats is garbage. Mostly fan boys are commenting on these videos about it being good. Was crap the first time. Nothing changed.
Cata was always a solid patch. It was just hated for the world revamp(doesn't matter now thanks to Era servers) and Dragonsoul being a horrible raid. There is no redeeming Dragonsoul but at least it won't stay here for almost 2 years like it did on retail.

What id like is seeing XP bonuses for leveling alts, speaking as an altoholic of course, but that would keep me playing more than I am currently just raid logging.
With heirlooms, which are your xp bonus, leveling feels extremely fast already. Youre absolutely zooming through the revamped zones with their ultra convenient quest hubs.

My main problem with Cata is there are only 7 new dungeons. Seven! Compared with the number of dungeons in all the previous expansions, that is just sad. They have gotten boring pretty quickly honestly, not even cause they are bad or anything, they are fine, but they get repeated so much that they have already worn out their welcome (Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep don’t count as new dungeons btw, just cause they are newly worked and made into a heroic doesnt mean they are new). Besides that, I do find the raids fun, dont want to come off as just being a downer on Cata, and i personally find alot of enjoyment mog farming
It ends with 10 new dungeons for a total of 14 dungeons once you reach the end of Cataclysm. It got new dungeons every patch.
Yep thats my most negative point with cata. The dungeons are so boring, I dont care about doing another alt because I fear the pre raid dungeon grind. Raids are solid
The dungeons aren’t fine though, they are pretty boring. From Vanilla to Cata, vanilla dungeons are the only one that feels like an adventure for me which is sad because wotlk is my favourite game but when I reach level 60 I just hate the RDF-levelling after that.
Xpacs are always great its usually the toxic community that ruins it for people.

Well there are plenty of people still playing and most people I know have alts that they are trying to get into groups... hopefully you can find a guild that fits you. As people drop off they will be recruiting for those spots, so as phase 1 winds down you should be able to find a spot and set yourself up for Firelands.
I really feel like they should have just let people do 10 and 25 on one toon. IMO I don't think any of the content should be out for more than 3 months. I mean in WOTLK I feel like most of the content was out way too long.
As a PvPer cata used to be alot of fun but man does it suck and show its imbalance now. A active MS effect and a retri can instantly heal for 80k, thats some bullshit. Some of these offheals are way over the top. And being a shadowpriest its pretty dishearthening to see how shitty our heals are when we need to use them compared to others, even hymn is ass. They still have major balancing to do to some spells
We started as a guild… every single one of us stopped playing by now. Cata gameplay and class balance is awesome… the content and the playerbase is absolute trash sadly

Always said the big downside for classic iterations of the game (outside of Vanilla) is there is nothing to do outside of raid except pvp. Mythic+ was the greatest thing ever to be added to the game. MoP started to add additional things to do but prior to M+ this is just the game.
Glad to see people are enjoying it. SoD has been a massive disappointment to me. P1 was aight. Found a non-blizzard server that's doing something more akin to Classic+ and that's where all my time is going now.
The only thing blizzard should do to make classic great again is adding Mythic +.
Played the launch/did heroic dungeons and quests, got to ilvl 350 and then quit, didn't feel like raiding 6 to 8 hours per week, waste of time

How? This is the expansion with the least "chores" and upkeep.
I'll give you the reason for low kills on those bosses, 100% psychological barrier. Enough people say its hard, people think its hard, they try it and find it hard because they're expecting it to be hard. They get some time on it, learn the 3 mechanics, realise its not that hard and start farming it. Just takes some groups longer than others because of weak links and/or misinformation.
A lot of people still have wrath brain and haven't bothered to learn how their class is supposed to be played. I see a lot of people still trying to play their class like it's wrath and just struggling to do half decent DPS or healing. Which makes the raids and dungeons much harder than they need to be.
That and time commitment due to the average player being older now. My guild only raids twice a week for about 6-7 hours total, so while we are capable of clearing everything (maybe not Nef yet) we just haven't got the time to put into practicing much each week. Still, we're 5/6 heroic in Blackwing and 1/5 in Bastion so that's not the worst - just not what I know we're capable of. If we had a third raid night (just like my old guilds back in the day did) we'd be doing better.
@@andromidius time commitment is an excuse, and a bad one. If you need THAT much more time you're team hasn't identified the weak link or is just too gutless to replace it. That's just a nice way of saying your team sux.
@@ahetzel9054 Wrath brain is just another excuse, not a reason. If you can't adapt then raiding is not for you and you shouldn't even be trying to do heroics.
Some people/raid teams simply need more time than others. That's always been the case. Yes, not everyone is as quick to pick up their class and/or how to play an encounter. This is why it should be a conscious choice what skill level raid team one raids in. I raid in two 10-man teams, one that is focused more on performance, and one that's a group of people who just like playing together. It's very simple that of course, I won't set the same expectations for my second raid team as my first - I just can't do that with those people because some of them simply are slower in learning encounters and don't perform as well on their class as they could. That is what I have my other raid group for where everyone can blast and perform well.
It's simply about lining up your expectations with the kind of group you join. Sure, could point out weak links in my weaker grp and ask them to improve or get kicked. But why would we do that in a grp that is clearly focused on having a good time together with people we like and not rushing a full heroic clear as fast as possible? From a performance standpoint you're absolutely correct, only I don't think you understand that not everyone values performance above all in their raid team. Some people simply don't care if they raid with a bad team if the players in that bad team happen to be their friends. That is key here.
I liked Classic Cata, but I am not sweaty enough to bother with one of the good guilds, and anything other than those guilds is just far too much of a struggle to maintain a guild roster. Its a continual recruitment roller coaster of getting people, gearing and training them up and then they leave for "better guilds". On top of that, the community is just crazy toxic. This has been the case since Classic first came out. This shit isnt that hard if you have a full raid with moderately competent players, but such a high percentage of people are such ridiculous min-maxers that it just isn't all that fun.
I made some great friends along the way that I will be raiding with in retail once War Within drops, and we had some good times. So long Classic WoW.
I'm lucky I ended up with a group of people I enjoy playing with... it's funny how the content didn't change but the people playing it have. Either elitism or flaking are the biggest problems with the community IMO... the only thing I can control is myself and I try to be someone I'd want to play with. I try to help bring people's performance up instead of tearing them down and to be someone that my guild can depend on.
Both guilds I raided with in TBC and WOTLK have completely removed themselves from Classic on the basis that Cata is not Classic and generally boring to play.
A lot if not most are now playing in Turtle WOW as it's the only decent iteration of classic going until blizz pull their finger out and release fresh classic.
It's funny... for me I think what is boring is having bosses without actual mechanics and mashing the same button over and over again. I enjoy the added challenge in PERFORMANCE as opposed to organization and preparation. But everyone likes something different and I hope Blizzard gives those players exactly what they love. If they want their money they have to compete with what private servers offer and right now Turtle WoW is crushing it; I respect the hell out of what they are doing even if it isn't the iteration of the game that's for me.
Got bored after 4 weeks in cataclysm to be honest. I still raid every week with the guild and everything is down on Heroic. But outside of the raids there's no reason to log in at all. Now i just raidlog for 2 raiding days every week. Will probably quit in the near future.
"Send you out in the world to do stuff in the future" Scottyjaye do you not remember thats what killed retail? endless farming of mythic dungeons and world quests to upgrade the power of "legendaries" endless world quests, there is things to do but it's forced chores, not enjoyable content. The only thing that was worth doing was Mythic+ dungeons but the mentality of players makes it unfun and since raids generally last 2-3 hours for a world tour that's enough time for 1 game. Too many people play for the wrong reasons and the leave because they either don't enjoy it anymore or only play to finish it once. Raiding is fun, or is at least supposed to be, always was, it got worse as new players came in, wanted the best shit without putting in the effort to achieve it and the new generation of the players is worse than those new players we had coming in back in the day.
I agree. I can't STAND doing the digital equivalent of the dishes; I'd be paying to do mostly things I don't like to do in hopes of having fun sometime in the future. Personally I LOVE having an alt friendly expansion with little upkeep where I can do whatever content I enjoy.
I'm not really a fan of cataclysm, but i'm raiding with a guild of friends. Still is very different from the type of WoW I enjoy, (vanilla). Some of these tier 11 bosses are just annoying. I hate having to stop dps on a boss, and maloriak can just go and die in a corner alone plz.
