I like the fact that they always keep you guessing!! You are never sure what they are gonna hit you with but it’s always awesome!!
They are going to tour in the USA... grab a ticket! It is going to be a memory for the rest of your life!
If you haven't seen "Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live" from back in the day, your missing out
I like to think of this song as more of a Paella of musical genres 😝 When they play live the Kami Band are right there onstage with the girls for all to see. They'll be touring the States starting at the end of August so you'll get a chance to see for yourself if you choose to do so
Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐
It's been a while since your last reaction to their new single from this new album "The Other One" already out.
Another song with that typical wtf effect they get us used to it.
Queen SuMetal is narrating us a King's tale of the Metal Kingdom with this psytrance mixed with middle eastern, Egyptian, Arabian or whatever sound that looks so cool with the unique blend of BM.
This was at BabyMetal Begins - The Other One - Clear Night live at PIA Arena MM, Yokohama, last April 2nd.
Some fans at Sabaton's Europe Tour are enjoying this song live, but everyone is having a blast with the new singles and classic BM songs.
You can see the Western Kami Band when performing live, and they got the spot they deserve, however, remember BM are the three girls, none other are official members such the Kami Band, Eastern or Western, that's why you don't see them so much at official MV.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥
Nice reaction and welcome back, it's been a while!
Trying to stablish which is BABYMETAL's core sound is... difficult. An important part of the fun is to discover new directions they can go musically. They're not the usual band or group, not even in that aspect. The funny thing is that some "accused" them of following the "safe path" on their first singles off the new album THE OTHER ONE. So, they released this one which is not "safe" in any possible way. Su-metal even defined it as "chaotic" and it's exactly what many of us were expecting from them. The truth (and we all agree about this point) is that they sound more mature. It's a natural and obvious move after all and it's much appreciated in general.
Keep in mind this is a music video with the studio track over live visuals. I was lucky enough to experience this one performed live last week in Berlin and I can say that the actual live audio sounds way better, specially the drums (I believe this studio version has a programmed drum beat) and those crazy solos, which sound really amazing live and feel even more complete (I believe CJ added some more motes in the end of the first one).
Yes, they developed a habit of hiding the band probably too much. Anyway, this is a MV and it doesn't really matter, although being them featured is actually a huge step forward. But the fans know who's playing at any given time and we appreciate their skills. Big fan of them!
Until next time! 🤘🦊
I think, fundamentally, the "Babymetal sound" is Suzuka Nakamoto's vocals over mostly heavy rock, or metal, music. The "Babymetal experience" adds the sound and the choreo from Moa (and Yui/Momoko). Nothing about The Other One moves away from that. It only adds new layers to the story.
And the preference is to have it be something original (so experimental in some sense) or serve a purpose on the album/live shows.
Great reaction. "METALIZMIZUMIZUMU" - great song - Middle Eastern/Egyptian/Arabian (or similar) trance metal at its best.🤘🦊🤘
BABYMETAL's core sound is that they don't just stick to one core sound (they established that intention right from the start - you should react to the second music video they released 'Iine' - that is iine pronounced ee-neh, not Line to see what I am talking about). You can always tell it is them, but each song is different, so this isn't a new direction they're going in, it is just a one of the unexplored until now many directions they have always gone in.
All the songs on the new album are great and when you put those songs together as a whole the album is just elevated to another level.
This is a music video, the Kami Band will not be the focus of attention in music videos, even the ones filmed at live concerts (as this was).
Nice reaction. In many ways this song is just Babymetal doing what they do. The unexpected. Mixing in more genres to their songs. And flavors from around the world. Su called this the "WTF" song of the album. I totally dig. It's both fun and has an edge to it. Lyrically the song is even stranger. As it talks about a metal king going on adventure. The concept of the album is Babymetal visited different metalverses. Each song represents a different universe. Listening to the album from start to finish it does tell a story. One of their early concerts the legend 1997. Was done as a rock opera. While the songs were not interconnected, they did help tell the narrative of the show. and that was how Babymetal went from idol to metal. In this concept album I get the feeling that from song to song it becomes an exploration of what is metal? What does it mean to be metal? The metal king in the lyrics of this song in many ways represents the lyrics of many heavy metal songs that tell this kind of story. And even the musical scale used in the song is similar in nature to "Wherever I roam" by Metallica. There are many songs that feature going out for an adventure. This is Babymetals version of that. Babymetal doing what they always do. Put their twist on it. Babymetal doesn't come with warnings. It's part of the fun. Or maybe they're at the end. lol "We Are Babymetal". Things are different around here. This is the way.
They've always been pretty varied in their output, and the new album is no exception. Do I like every style they do? No, but I'd rather they switched it up this much and have the occasional song that doesn't suit me than stick to one formula. This is one I really like - my second or third favourite on the album. Also, I got to see them perform it live in April, which was awesome!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 You may have noticed the repetitive phrase "Zumu Zumu". It is interesting, because it reminds me of another phrase with tonal similarity "Muzu Muzu". When you feel itchy or tickling or a kind of slight frustration, Japanese people express it using this phrase "Muzu Muzu".
Metalizm was premiered in the two-day shows on April 1/2 and I witnessed the both at the venue in Yokohama😍. This MV is from Day-2 when Momoko appeared as the 3rd official member, Momometal, for the first time. Western (American) Kami Band did a great job in those shows.
You said "new direction". In an interview, Su referred to this song with Arabic flavor as "a new drawer of BABYMETAL" [source : magazine PMC vol. 27, page 41]. I viewed this choreo on stage by Su, Moa and Momometal as mixture of seriousness, playfulness, comicalness, therefore amazingness on top of Su's fantastic vocals and intricate guitar phrases and hefty drumming by West Kamis. The new drawer is a tribute to New BABYMETAL.

Metarizumu zumu zumu !! !! !!
Both, really. They are moving away from what they were, but I still like it. The new album is pretty experimental, and I don't love every aspect of it, but I am very excited by how they are evolving and their willingness to evolve. 🤘🦊🤘
Not really moving away from what they were since they were always really experimental with their music.
The Algorithm brought me here. For a channel name of "Chasing Anthems", if you want to see some of their absolute anthems, with their consummate crowd control.... "Road of Resistance" Live in Japan 2015, and/or "The One" ... really any live version.
Welcome back to the foxhole great song dont think it's a new direction for BabyMetal they always done many genres of music and metalising them just bit more mature style now they are in their 20s 😁
🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
That "middle eastern" influence to my ear is a Disney influence, a minor harmonic scale which we associate with Middle Eastern music since Jafar's theme in Aladdin.
I do want to see more of the musicians, but they haven't been emphasized since Mikio, their lead guitarist, passed away 5 years ago. Don't know if there's a connection
Don't think Mikio passing away has nothing to do with not emphasizing the Kamis. I think it's more about the fact that they have the western Kamis now also performing with them
@@Tyyppl You could be right, but but they dialed back on the Kamis a good 12-15 months before the Western Kamis.
@@Wombatmetal More like 6 months. They were still pretty prevalent in 2018. It was in 2019 when that changed
👍 👍
It’s been a long time since I have seen you reacting to these young ladies and their Kami’s. Welcome back. Hope to see more of you.
New direction? Hmmmm no actually just BabyMetal breaking down more genres. Every song/performance is different. If you continue to explore their catalog of over 60 songs react to the LIVE performances when possible over MV’s.
ZUM ZUM ZUM〜🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀〜♬HAPPY METAL😁😁😁
😎😎😎🤘🤘🤘
🤘🦊🤘
Arabian psytrance metal! Blending genres and influences is what Babymetal does. 🤘
You hear "metarizumuzumuzumu" repeated a lot in two sections of the song where in the official lyrics the lines are represented each time by a single "METALIZM."
The katakana pronunciation of METALIZM is メタリズム/Metarizumu.
Metarizumuzumuzumu = メタリズム/Metarizumu (metal rhythm) + ズムズム/zumuzumu (thrumming (e.g., with excitement)).
