  • We do love the express dampproofing system but sometimes we use solid salt neutralising plaster. See how and why we did it.

It so refreshing and helpful to come across someone who so clearly knows what they are talking about when it comes to damp proofing. Thank you very much for your efforts in sharing such valuable knowledge, it’s much appreciated.

Great job! Would their be any issue with gypsum skim over the renderlite? Is that the preffered option?

On a solid wall you use a damp proofing plaster?
Why would you want to use impervious materials on a solid wall that needs to “breathe” that’s simply turning it into a swimming pool

      No it’s not

its a salt neutralising plaster, a lot of the issues you see of surface "damp" is the salt.

@@jonesconrad1 yeah because they’re trapped by having gypsum or cement products in the wall! They trap moisture

Supposed to use render lite finish over render lite backing, guarantee the plasterer after Sam just skimmed the lot. also supposed to leave it for 6 month before painting or wallpapering if you are using this DPC system,. I'm not a fan of render lite its crap and very expensive, membrane and board best way to go for DPC work.

Don't use Renderlite !! Its crap, hacked loads off. Its too porous. Can't beat sand & cement render as the backing coat.

It’s does depend what background you use it on. You now have to mix in SBR and apply SBR to the wall when prepping which you didn’t before.
I would only use it where I was confident it would work.

It's meant to be porous, how else can your walls breath otherwise?

@@anthonymclean9743 Mixed with clean water yes it is porous, not with S.B.R. added. S.B.R is a complete water proofer, that's why there mix it in with render to tank cellars and basements. I have used Renderlite and its rubbish believe me its too porous. Cant beat sharp sand & cement render with render-guard gold as an admixture.
