A neighbor of mine who also got me into shooting as a kid worked a Picatinny Arsenal, Fort Benning, and later Quantico, where his job was evaluating and accurizing various weapons systems. He was as you might imagine a pretty damn good shot. One of his hobbies was buying clapped out old surplus Mauser’s and turn them into tack drivers. Anyhow after he finished the initial build he would tinker with the rifle to achieve its best accuracy and then he would start installing various different muzzle brake designs that he had “dreamed up” and made in his basement workshop. He was a firm believer that a good rifle should be accurate without a muzzle brake/flash suppressor and that the addition of these items to a rife should not negatively impact (change) the rifle’s accuracy but improve it by making the rife more controllable and comfortable to shoot for the shooter. My reason for posting this is in the hopes Brandon might see it and do a video of his AK50 in a lead-sled or similar rifle shooting rest and shoot the AK50 without a muzzle device installed to demonstrate the rifle’s accuracy and shooting characteristics and then repeat the test with various muzzle devices installed from everything from a simple AK style Slant-brake to various other styles of AK muzzle brakes and then onto other styles of muzzle brakes including a scaled up version of a Cutts Compensator, as well as drilling porting holes in the barrel past the gas block, Magna porting of the barrel as well as a combination of porting the barrel and installing a muzzle brake / flash hider.
Congratulations, Brandon. I am a retired engineer and I know the satisfaction that comes from seeing the project that has owned your life for a few years come to fruition. Now... Do it again. Cheaper.
Indeed! I think most of the parts could be readily mass produced as they are. From what we've seen, that hand guard is the prohibitive part; Titans of CNC went through an excruciating process just to make that one example. Not sure how that could be simplified... perhaps injection molded polymer with aluminum strips for reinforcement and MLOK slots?
My question is does it pass to durability test.... You know like the AK-47 is known for being able to fire no matter what. putting dirt in a barrel putting mud in the barrel and all that?
@@haykmeghavoryan5717 Why should it return to its so-called "roots" when it is a perfectly modern derivative? All modern AK variants from the motherland have stocks and handguards that are predominately made with polymers. Brandon's is in milled aluminum, which is far and away more premium than either option. It's in fact TOO premium for production. Hell, the buttplate is the polar opposite; it's 3D fuckin' printed. Yes, wood would look ICONIC, but the AK"M" is no longer "modern", even from (especially from) its homeland's perspective. Perhaps a production run could be done with carefully sculpted, fit, and finished wood features, but it would be an ultra-premium option with no real benefit aside from pleasing AKM autists. Injection molded polymer with aluminum reinforcement is the most modern and economical solution for the handguard, and the reinforcement would be unnecessary for a simply molded buttplate/stock. Your view of an "AK" is skewed by the traditional image, of which the platform has long since evolved away from, so why should the AK-50 adhere to that? Because you want it to have that iconic '50s look? Oh fuckin' please. Miss me with that shit.
You really did a great job with this project. At the beginning i didn't think it would be as AK as it is. I hope you guys sell them. There's definitely a future for the AK-50.
Hello Brandon. I am from russia and i've been following your content here and there for a while. Today i've turned 16, and went to the gun range for the first time. I fired the ak, mosin, beretta and a AR(i couldn't aim those ironsights, im an AK enjoyer). and i must say this: you have had a very big influence on me as a person, for which i'm very thankful. I'm actually planning on becoming a gun designer, because im planning to get into the miltech uni in St. Petersburg.
Brandon, you are not just making gun videos, your showing young men around the world what it takes to be a man. Make and follow up on your goals, face adversity, find a solution to said adversity. Your not greedy, rather generous just wanting to share your passions with us and do so in a very entertaining way. You havent tried to screw over your audience for any sort of political or finanancial gains. Just a real dude doing real things, and that is really important to showcase in todays fake online world! Running for office was honestly a HUGE win, you showed both politicians and your constituents that personal responsibility doesnt just stop with the end of a video, and the politicians that real men are not afraid of their games or politial slander. Keep going man, wherever this journey takes you I wouldnt be shocked to see you behind the presidential podium one day, got my vote, in fact i hope we do get that chance to vote for you and others like you. Thanks for being a hero to my nephew, making you a hero to me as well! Godspeed and Lets go brandon!
i remember firing the old .50 caliber machine gun mounted on an apc and a tripod. the barrel was oversized and the kick on that thing was something else. on the apc, the whole vehicle would bounce. on a tripod, you had to put sand bags on the feet to hold the tripod down. it had a trigger that you fired with two hands. you couldn't really aim. you just pointed it down range and fired adjusting your aim by following your bullets. that would heat up a barrel red hot. we had to carry extra barrels, because they would melt if you did not change them. the over sized barrel caused the bullet to tumble coming out and tumbling bullets are vicious
Thank you for keeping your promise on finishing the Ak50. Alot of RUclipsrs get people on their channel with a project and kinda string them along and never really finish it. Awesome to see it come to life!
Yesterday while on break at work, I was watching this video with headphones on, in the employee lounge. And apparently, someone was looking over my shoulder, because not 20 minutes after I clocked back in, someone from HR and a dude from security came over to my work area, and said that they needed to speak to me. Someone reported that I was watching something, "Violent and dangerous.". I was flabbergasted. People are crazy, man.

I can't explain how impressed I am. That is legit the most sick 50bmg platform there is in existence. It's so clean, it's so cool. The OAL, the fluted barrel, I love it all. The one weird thing is how slow it appears to cycle, I wonder how it compares to the Barrett. But that doesn't detract from it at all, it's just something I noticed. The coolest thing you can do with the AK50 is start producing them and put it on the market. I'd need someone to stop me from selling my car to buy one
That is one sexy rifle, bro. 5 seconds in, I already love it. AK design is iconic for reliability, and with your custom parts and all the work you did, I'm sure that accuracy and precision are world-class.
It's honestly really cool to see how using a different muzzle break can have such a drastic change in the recoil pattern of the gun and the physics of it explained.
These videos bring a tear in my eye, gone is the era of "where AK-50" long live a fun meme. Now we're in the era of "what ak-50 do?" And "When sell ak-50 " they just don't have the same ring to it.

Re: the passage of the .50BMG close by one's head causing "massive damage"...in Sep/Oct 1979 during Op Miracle in Mozambique while operating our Eland 90 we were pinned down on a bare rock hilltop by ZANLA forces close by using a Yugo multi-barreled 20mm cannon. The Selous Scout section that was providing close vehicle security for us sprawled prone on the bare rock ground beside our vehicle in an extended line. I watched through my gunners side periscope as the 20mm rounds (some of which were API and some of which were equipped with tracer) passed inches over the Selous Scout soldiers' heads...none of which were lost due to the "deadly shockwave" possessed by the projectiles. 😮
Brandon , as a young man like yourself I tried many interesting theories / myths etc just to see for myself ' what if I '.....and one fun thing I noticed was when firing a solid .22 bullet into a decent block of beeswax , i could make the projectile climb the rifling grooves in the pill as it gouges the wax and actually curve out of the wax to hit a target off to the side , quite predictably after some practice lol , I wonder if that beautiful . 50 would do same in a big enough block of beeswax ??
Like you can afford it. Your talking 10k atleast and with democrats running us all into the ground that's a wet dream for most people and nothing more.
I had the same argument with an older gentleman at a range one day. Saying he knew of a guys leg getting blown off even though the bullet missed. So we rented a .50 BMG and I fired a round at paper. Amazing the paper didn’t get sucked into a black hole.
@@virtuaguyverify try the experiment at a local range. Literally just punches a .50 hole through paper. I’ve seen that video. Definitely didn’t just miss and it died by the air.

I wanna see Ian do a video on the AK 50 where he's talking about Brandon and crew like they're old and dead and then at the end Brandon walks in and snatches the 50 and says something like 'could ya wait till I'm gone'.
I have seen a .50 cal get really close to a US soldier in Iraq in an AD incident. It passed between his body and arm, amazingly he still has his arm and body. The only thing he got was shrapnel from the bullet hitting the armor plate.
The giggle factor on this one was off the charts! Well done! That barrel whip looked like it was pretty violent on the optic, too. Can't imagine that was good for the life span/ability to hold zero. The new brake obviously eliminated that, too. Well done!
On the grazing concussion debacle, whenever anyone mentions something like that I'm always reminded of that 22plinkster video where he shot a .50BMG (iirc) through a card castle and it stood up completely undisturbed.
Deer could have been shot already... Coincidence it just fell on the second shot to the head.. Hb literally showed you, and you big head azz still believe that when it just demos a myth... 😂
@@user-neo71665 If it takes near-zero energy to penetrate, there is near-zero energy transfer. That's the OTHER way armor can get defeated - simply shoot it enough times and microstructure is cooked. so satisfying seeing your lives work coming together like this. well done Brandon, we're all so proud of you. also, a new series of "Feeding thing's to AK50" would be so good.

Sounds like a damn good idea to me.
I'd watch that!

This man enginerds.
@@FuzedBox nah it needs to return to its roots. Wood furniture or bust

Petersburg.

An M2 Browning? Shaking a whole APC? Damn.
Thank you for keeping your promise on finishing the Ak50. Alot of RUclipsrs get people on their channel with a project and kinda string them along and never really finish it. Awesome to see it come to life!
