- Mike Matei's video game console collection!
I really wanted to discuss some game consoles I own that we haven't talked much about before. So I've highlighted a few systems from my collection you may not have heard much about before and I hope you find it interesting if you're into retro gaming.

I would love to see you talking about obscure systems in detail in the future. That would be awesome
Chris 86 And the Gaming Historian to do it with would make it epic.
Was expecting cdi, 3DO and other stuff, but was pleasantly surprised
p c 9 8 ? ?
@@Mikebloke I had a 3do. Always liked that system.
love that I can hear the high pitched ring noise from the CRT
I can't watch this vid cuz of it
I actually cant handle that noise from older TVs. The older the TV, the more I can't handle.
@@sebastianriz4703 it does hurt my ears a bit, I can't lie about that, but there's something so nostalgic about that noise that a CRT without that noise feels wrong. Even if it hurts my ears, it's a comforting noise that brings me back to childhood.
It's just electrons being excited and having fun, hahaha
@NPC #34254334 Response: I don't either. I think at a certain age you cant hear it any more
You do realize that we now demand a James and Mike Monday with the game of life controller right? Fun vid, thanks for making it!
Wow, so many consoles and boxes in one video! Thanks, Mike! 😁
Oh don't you talk about his boxes, he LIKES boxes!
@@synical13 Who doesn't?? 😋
Wassup dude!! Your in Jays streams!!
@@joehdah5395 Heck yeah! I remember when Melvor made you mod! That was a good night. 😎 Hope you're having an awesome day, dude!
@@JonKratz Oh yeah, that was awesome hahaha! Im having a great day thanks!
Yeah Mike, Link Between Screens was my favorite Zelda game
Underated comment
Ryno Mclaughlin link between worlds if that is what you mean
@@leungzinwang4188 r/woosh
@@diskkun4120 Yep
I thought I missed a Zelda game for a second there
More of this please.. great history lesson.
Love the old Commodore monitor. Those things were real workhorses.
“Dragon Wang, one of my favorites” is a line I’d never be able to say with a straight face. Because despite being 27, apparently I’m 12 years old
I'm 38 and as soon as I heard 'Dragon Wang' I came straight to the comments to hear what people were saying.
'Came'...heh heh...
The character's name was shortened to D.Wang in-game, too
@@rhysperegrine5100 glad to see someone older than me did the same thing lol, im 33 and my brain is telling me nah, 9 at best.
when he said that i had to go see the comments lol.
Everybody else: Gets the most popular consoles
Mike: Gets all the obscure ones
It's a shame the obscure ones are also expensive too :(
The obscure ones are the most interesting
Heck yeah!! Obscure consoles are AWESOOOOMMEE
How is the PC Engine and the Sega III obscure?
He got the popular ones like 20 years ago when they were cheap, or kept them from 30 years ago.
You have no excuse. You are morally obligated to do a James & Mike Monday video with the Game Of Life controller. And if you only have the controller and not the game, that just means you need to get a copy of the game that controller was made for.
lol
This is Mike at his best. I’m normally not at huge fan of videos without James in them, but this one was very informative and excellent. Keep up the good work!
WOW that's an awesome collection of consoles! I'm impressed!
Mike's enthusiasm is absolutely infectious.
Trueee
"MCFLY!" "Ah, Fujitsu-san! Konnichiwa!" "McFly! I have just noticed you've not been promoting my system enough! You are terminated!"
O.M.F.G.!
Mike owns the Atari Computer, My first videogame system! (0:13 the gray console in the lower left with the big 5 buttons)
Now I demand a gameplay of Bug Hunt!
I've barely played the original Zelda and I still recognized the different music right away. Granted I already knew about that particular feature of the FDS.
That "Marty" system's shape kinda looks like the PS3, huh??
Thought it looked more like a dreamcast prototype, wonder if theres a link to those two systems...
That is one hell of a collection Mike. Congratulations, this takes dedication!
Lone Wanderer and money.......lots of it
Worth getting yourself a Neo SD (or Neo SD Pro) for the AES there! You can play EVERY Neo Geo game then!
Really cool idea for a video Mike. I've never heard of most of these and i'm around the same age as yourself and James. Great stuff!
I saw that un-torched CD-32. I shall renew my badgering for a J&M Monday with good CD-32 games like Chaos Engine or Super Stardust.
Jet strike is a must
It took only 2:20 seconds before a Zelda game was mentioned 🤣
Nope 0:23 because of the twin famicom box
I mean... If old games are being talked about.. Its pretty much a prerequisite. Like...you kinda just have to.
And? What's the problem with that?
Good ole Commodore 1702 monitor. Yours even has the front panel cover. Great video!
No Casio Loopy? 🤣🤣🤣
As for the FM Towns Marty, it's basically a revamp of the FM Towns, a Japanese computer. IIRC, the 3.5" floppy drive is to play FM Towns games.
Jesus Zamora and incredibly expensive
I googled Dragon Wang at work. Terrible career move...
NSFW
Yeah but we gotta remember Mike has Big Giant *DRAGON WANG*
One of my favorites!
Uuuhhhhh, Bevis, he said wang.
Yeah, but its like huge Dragon wang. Does that mean it pisses fire too??
Dragon Wang 😭
and here I was getting worried that there were no more comments about mike's massive wang
I forgot about mikes massive wang 😂😂😂
Thanks for the vid mike! I missed your solo videos about retro stuff. Hope we get some more soon
Had that Mario 2 glass on the shelf during your Bally's part. Wish I still had those. Love seeing stuff like that.
You're the best mike always so enthusiastic and great attitude
Game of Life J&MM would be cool!
This is pretty nuts I have watched a lot of collection videos and I haven't seen most of these consoles or controllers. Awesome!
You should make this a series. Learned so much from watching this video Mike.
Much respect to Mike Matei. After seeing his twitch streams, he is the ultimate retro gamer.
I'm familiar with everything except that Game of Life PS1 controller. Of course I want one now. Thanks. 😣
Love these old school Cinemassacre 'Hanging out in the game room' Kind of videos 🙌🏻
LiverpoolRetroGamer Thanks!
I love that snuff film ambient hum in the background.
....how many snuff films have you seen?
Eight.
6:05 "Dragon Wang. One of my favorites." I bet 😉
Ayo 🤨🤨🤨
It's super interesting, I wouldn't mind if you made a 2 hour long in-depth video about more obscure consoles!
Maybe I'll do a follow up to this someday and discuss more.
9:05, I can't imagine how much that is worth..
The normal turbo graphic16 with bonk on the box goes for 2000 bucks, but a rare holiday version.. Oh man
Great video Mike. Alot of stuff I never heard of. Very informative.
I thought I knew a lot about video games but it's like Mike just stepped out of another world with all these. Amazing video.
Another World or Flashback?
Those bells on the Zelda theme made it sound way more epic than the original cartridge theme
Absolutely!
I first heard it on the Japanese OST releases from the 80's and 2004.Famicom Music Vol.2, Famicom Anniversary Soundtrack Vol.1 and Zelda The Music. Metroid and the Castlvania games have better sound tracks with the Sound Expansions also. I finally bought a Famicom this year with a couple of games and the Ram Adapter for the FDS. I didn't get the Disk System, instead I bought a device that runs the Game Disk Rom images like a multi cart.
I always enjoy these type of episodes, especially getting to see more about Mike and his obsqure systems. Very educational keep it up guys.
Love these types of videos thanks for sharing. I also still have my commodore as well
What's cool about the Twin Famicom is it doesn't turn into the color of pee 30 years later like the NES does
Yes maybe because it's not grey or white but red
Well they do fade in colour.
@@apfeltee34
..... You just couldn't let me have that one. Let me think things aren't pee colored, OK? It gets me through the day.
Those of us who grew up with tape loaders (Speccy, C64 etc) never complain about loading times. It's all relative. :-)
Skyrim tho... ;)
The novelty of flipping the disks outweighs any inconvenience of waiting for the FDS to load ;)
8:36 It's got the retro future aesthetic down pat.
I never get tired of these. There's something about old technology that fascinates me. Hopefully we'll get to see you play some of them on future videos
"I'm a Nintendo kids!" "I'm a Sega kid!" "I'm a PlayStation kid!"
"I'm a Marty kid!" said no one ever
I am one! Ive learned about it when i was 11 and got it a year after. Im 14 now and i must say-the fm towns is awesome.
"They just don't do [wacky and weird] stuff like this anymore"
Nintendo Labo, and especially Labo VR, says HI. ;-)
Love to see different and more obscure consoles. Keep up with vids like these Mike!
you did a very nice job explaining the differences of each system reviewed. I liked to see what these games felt like and I was very surprised to see that they made so many video game systems I had never heard of! Thanks for sharing Mike!
Mike...I think Segata Sanshiro is going to come after you now for not mentioning the SEGA SATURN! You MUST PLAY THE SEGA SATURN, MIKE!
Why bother putting the Sega Saturn in with all these other lumps? Saturn is in a league of its own!
he did a AVGN episode on that u know
Please select Disk B…
and insert to f***king box! Lol
Saw that one too?
I almost said the same thing
I haven't really got into the classics yet, but this is awesome man. This video creates new interest for old school gaming.
Picture is so great on those Commodore monitors! That's a great set, cherish it! Also love that you have one of those sets that's sitting inside a woodcase (I haven't seen one of those since the one we had at home when I was little, Wow, that's quite a flashback there). Very accurate with the Bally! pretty cool
Imagine playing Resident evil with a Hasbro spinner controller.
Heck yeah mann, Awesome collection!
3:00 wow that gave me shivers, really cool!
From what I've heard the enhanced sound is muffled a bit on the twin famicom from the original with external drive. Both of those consoles are serious pieces of gaming history and I want at least one of them.
Thanks For Making This Video Mike HOLY SH*T
Isn't the Neo-Geo 1:1 for arcarde ports, because it uses the same motherboard, or something?
love seeing these old systems, was expecting a Sam Coupé to appear after the marty for some reason hehe
Nice Commodore Monitor! I use to have one and loved it soooo much! The way it shows off the graphics is so cool.
Ever done a inventory of all your games, Mike??
I dont think there are enough gigabytes in the world to upload that video
You guys are great 😆
@mermaid Shh!! Don't tell him!
7:15 "Why would you take a homeconsole out with you? They dont make crazy ideas like that today.."
Ehm hello, Nintendo Switch?!
I could watch hours of this sort of stuff would definitely like to see more videos on your collection Mike!
Great video man, would love a series on this
Glad mike gets the love he derserves these days
Wow Amazing collection
Thanks!
I really enjoy these kinds of videos, thanks Mike!
"Taking a home console with you... they don't really come out with crazy ideas like this anymore" HELLO - the Nintento Switch?
Yeah, but the Switch doesn't come with it's very own carrying case straight out of the box
That opening shot is out of control. From the Sega Mark III to the Bally Astrocade, this was such a fun video to watch!
I want to get some more carts for the Sega Mark III. But for now you and I can play Dragon Wang
Mike Matei Can’t get enough Dragon Wang!
That ps1 "wheel of fortune" controller at the end.. it's so.... majestic...
Jeez sony.
Wow thx, specially the Fujitsu Part , im working for this Company for 7 years now and didnt know about it :) thx, i really mean it!
3:40 I like using the original FDS RAM module + the FDS Stick (which replaces the diskette drive) So you are getting 1:1 accuracy, but with none of the hardware and disk errors, load times, or large size. Plus the RAM modules can be purchased for less than $20 and are as dependable as any Famicom cartridge. I use that in conjunction with a RetroUSB AVS and it works great.
Wow! You're so lucky! I wish i had as many as you do!
dragon wang...jesus...
You cant make fun of of it its mikes favorite lmao
This video is really cool. Even without deeply reviewing all aspects of each game and console, you still feel how interesting and unique each system was for its time. Would love to possibly see more like this. Also would've been neat to hear the differences between the AES and MVS for people that don't really know too much about the NEOGEO consoles
awesome video!! i would love to see an up to date complete game room/game collection video. that would be awesome to see as well
Now that's what I call a HARDCORE video game nerd.
I love how Mike spins it one more time before the video ends
lander77477 I did that just for you
Thanks for sharing, a couple of things i´ve never seen nor heard of, awesome vid!
Very, very well done! Thanks for making it! ;)
Mike Matei loves dragon wang
I feel the PCengine/Turbografx-16 is talked about/more recognized than you say.
Tophatgaming mentions them alot
Everyone around here are hype on that since past 5years easy
0:45 Commodore 1702 is such great monitor for gaming. Great video
Great vide and would have love to seen the last two systems played. Being so rare I doubt many have seen them onscreen.
"And i spend thing like 300 thousand of dollars on everithing"
The Famicom Zelda sounds better than the NES.
What's a Famicom
@@GamerBoy870 🤣🇯🇵
@Jacob Cannon I could definitely tell by 👂 from this video, but didn't know that was a fact. Time for me to do some learning! 😋
That makes my 5 year old self very angry. I feel jipped.
The cartridge version is the same
Awesome Video Mike. I love seeing rare and obscure counsels.
Wow! That Game of Life controller though, LOL. I wonder if you could use that on a Wheel of Fortune game?
Haha lost it at the name dragon wang
10:20 yo Mike you vape?!!?
The discs for the Famicon seems like a really nice physical medium. Looks so satisfying to see them pop in like that.
Imagine a modern version that could hold like 20Gb on each side.
Great.. now I have serious cravings for a twin famicom. Thanks Mike :P
You have an incredible collection dude! Could easily get lost in all those games!
I hold the world record for losing the most consoles
Bonks Adventure was so fun to me when I was a kid. Played that so much. Forgot about it till you mentioned it. Never heard anyone else mention it
watching vids on this channel is like being forever young. couldn't imagine my grown up life without it ;)
