Why can’t Iris have a horse AND a Drakkar for her birthday? Lots of books, and what a lovely dynamic here! Thank you for the smiles, Ed and Sadie!
Exactly Philip, Iris deserves a little treat for her birthday!
Hahah, I completely agree! She should have it all!
Will
Thanks the Couple Gwynne, loved the book Haul what a marvellous extra bookcase you will now fill! 💜📚
The more books the better!
Will
17:22 - Sadie you are going to be fine, it's hard but beautiful and your best reading experience if you enjoy the style and chatacters is to read the Farseer Trilogy and trust in Hobb. Have chocolate to hand and other books to pallette cleanse but it is sooooooo worth it! 💜📚
I really cannot wait to see Sadie go through the Farseer journey!
Will
16:39 - WAIT WHAT!!!! ...I am just going to find a corner and take calming breathes into a brown paper bag! 😱😱😱💜📚
What a book haul. The Return of the Knights and Fall of the Giants look so good.
Ive a friend who keeps talking about how he & I read Robin Hobb together and riecussed the books as we went. I have absolutely no recollection of reading them, but every time i go to pick one up, i think, "Simon says I've already read this," and then i move to another author, even though im nearky sure i haven't. And thats why i haven't read any Hobb. Because apparently, I have.
Definitely a large book haul! They look so good 🤩.
Hah, oh no! Maybe try book 1 and see if it sparks the memory.....
Will
What a haul. Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi was at the top of my TBR until I decided to start a small little story called Malice. I'll have to cycle back to it soon.
Also, I've never read Earthsea, but LeGuin wrote one of my favorite short stories ever: The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas. Incredible, quick read that you can find online.
Hmmm I wonder who Malice is written by.....
Definitely need to read some more LeGuin. Thanks so much for the recommendation :).
Will
The “Together Everyone” song you were trying to place is from the single greatest human work of art ever produced: “High School Musical”!
Hah, shame on them for not knowing it!
Will
🤣
Knew someone else would have clocked and helpfully pointed this out 😆👍
Warriar Woman sounds great - added to my storygraph 💜📚
I need to add it as well!
Will
5:28 - heard amazing things about that non-fiction💜📚
2:27 - specifics with weaponry is important 😂
I hope your daughter corrects all her friends!
Hahah I'm sure she will!
3:33 - yes Warm hands of ghosts is gorgeous, as Arden deserves - i am trying not to overhype to myself as the Winter Night Trilogy was Incedible! But it is a beautiful work of art either which way 😉💜📚
Such an amazing trilogy! Warm Hands of Ghosts feels very different, but of course still has the same beautiful writing style and subtlety of character.
Will
@thebrothersgwynne That's really good to know - I have it ready to read, but want to do the book justice and be expecting something it isn't! 💜📚
Sadie, I just picked up Assassins Apprentice as well so if you start a “read a long “ on the discord or Patreon I’ll surely join in.
I am also planning to pick up Assassins Apprentice this month - would be up for chatting about it in the Discord if others are reading too!
@@rue1629 awesome!
If we do, we'll be sure to announce it :)!
Will
Aww you two, Ed and Sadie, are so cute together. I love it when you do videos together. Not that I don't love watching Will too, lol. A great book haul! I'm starting my fantasy reading journey slowly, but I have put a bunch of these on my future tbr.
Even if Sadie did call me out for not having read Liveships... these are awesome! What fantasy books are you starting with :)?
Will
@@thebrothersgwynne I'd like to start with Robin Hobb. I have Assassin's Apprentice out from the library and I really want to read it. I just find fantasy intimidating sometimes. I'd also like to read The Lord of The Rings; it's in my 24 in 24 list this year. Of course, I'd like to work my way up to Papa Gwynne's books, but I don't think I'm quite ready for them, yet. Soon, though, I'm sure! Do you plan on reading Liveships? I hear they're her best trilogy. At least that's what a lot of booktubers say, lol.
@@readknitwithcherylPapa Gwynne is so damn good!!! Truth and Courage ! 🙏
34:19 - sounds like Sadie will be teaching boar rowing to Iris alone. Clearly Ed will be responsible for craft learning such as beadwork. 😆💜📚
Looking forward to hearing your review of Kinslayer, B.E. I do love me some Viking mythology. Sadie, I'm excited to read Atalanta too - she's a fascinating character. She is often the only female considered a Greek hero along with all the guys: Perseus, Theseus, Jason, Heracles, etc. Here is an actual conversation that took place in my high school mythology classroom years ago that might shed light on why I retired young:
Student 1: So remind me why was Atalanta considered one of the Greek heroes.
Me: Well, if you remember the lesson, for starters, she killed the Caledonian boar with help from her fiancé.
Student 2, interrupting: Wait - wait - did you just say she killed the Caledonian boar with help from Beyoncé?
Me: 😑
Hahah that is hilarious 🤣. I won't be able to think of Atalanta in the same way now!
Will
First of all. love the shirts, Courtney is so talented!!
Also, I feel like my reading tastes are an exact mix of yours and Sadie's, so I was truly squealing with excitement over each new book you presented here hahah. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on all of these gems, happy reading!
She really is! I also added loads to my tbr just by seeing these books! Thanks for watching :)
Will
This video is the best example of Couple Goals!!
🤣
Silent Patient is soooooo gooood, psychological read
I'm looking forward to Sadie sharing her thoughts :)!
Will
This was just a pleasure to watch. Not all of the books are interesting to me, but you two were a joy. Enjoy all the reading!
They are so great to watch! Happy reading :).
Will
Wayward is a good book. My cover was different. I don’t see a hot pink cover matching with the book.
So good to see Sadie on here. Great video. I too, can never remember the names of books I have read. I have been known to buy the same one twice and not know it until I start reading it! 🤦♀️
It is so much harder than it sounds! That's why we use Goodreads :). Thanks for watching!
Will
If you want to watch a show about pirates please watch Black Sails. It's really good. With great character development and great writing. Lots of ship fight scenes. Also it's a prequel to Treasure Island.
Thanks so much for the recommendation! Added to the list :)
Will
Ooh I can't wait to see what you think of The Silent Patient, Sadie. It's his best work, in my opinion.
You two are so cute! Vevin song was a really decent debut, I look forward to your thoughts! Sadie has some absolute bangers on here! Shardlake, Hobb and Winternight!!! 😮❤ So much self pub!🎉 I look forward to you guy’s thoughts on Amina! And I look forward to Sadie’s thoughts on Lilith! Great video!
A lot of bangers for sure!!! Lots to look forward to hearing about :).
Will
Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories. I'm currently up to page 881 of the Count of Monte Cristo. Still got some way to go. Very different feeling to be with a book so long. Happy reading.
Wow that is quite the journey! Definitely I’d a unique experience being with a book for so long, but it can be very rewarding!
Will
Enjoy all ur reads!!! 😊🎉🎉
Happy reading, and thanks for watching!
Will
Some really great picks there. I absolutely loved the Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet! Possibly edged by Cloud Atlas as my favourite David Mitchell book. Like Sadie, I've got The Assassin's Apprentice on my physical TBR, after hearing many a good thing. Hope you love Dissolution, as the Shardlake series is one of my favourites of all time.
My god! So many books! Thank you for showing my books :)
Hah sooo many! We all cannot wait to read them :).
Will
«Grace of Kings» is my favorite Fantasy Read published in the last 10 years! «Vinland Saga» is amazing! And «Earthsea» is delightful: «The Tombs of Atuan»(#2) is my favorite!
The only books I have bought lately are on Kindle: The first novellas in the «Sun Eater» series (love the new cover for «Queen Amid Ashes»!) and the novella «Hengist» by Sean Poage. I have also inherited a copy of Dostoyevsky’s «The Brothers Karamasov» as well as Icelandic Sagas and books by Tarjei Vesaas. Cheers!
You can select different covers on Goodreads to the edition you have or want.
I completely forgot you can do that. Thanks for watching :)
Will
Good Lord, Will has gotten MUCH more attractive lately. I hope things stay that way.
😂😂😂
Have you guys read "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" by Heather Morris? The show is also coming to Sky this week. Highly recommend the book and Heather Morris in general. Have read 3 books by her. Have yet to read her latest one
I really need to read it! And I will be watching the adaptation as well. Thanks for watching, and thank you so much for the recommendation :).
Will
16:19 - Firstly congrats Sadie on picking up Hobb, hope you love it.
Secondly- Will hasn't read Liveships!!!! 😱
I am hoping it I'd because he read Farseer and us so excited he intends to just bindge liveships and not because he decided to go down some chaotic path of madness and go straight on to Tanwy man...
....OK clearly I have become THAT judgemental fantasy commenter. I would like to say sorry, but I actually think I can't take it back! 🙁😯😣💜📚
I know, it's a crime I haven't read Liveship 😭. I may have gone straight to Tawny Man...... Hahah, I think the horror is deserved 🤣.
Will
📖🥰📚📚📚📚📚📚📚
I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the book of the new sun, that's on my tbr
I'm sure we'll be hearing Ed's thoughts!
Will
British fantasy covers are almost always better than the US covers. Actually I'd say that about most genres. Blackwells gets a lot of my spare change b/c they have British covers but don't charge shipping to the US unlike Waterstones, which doesn't make any sense at all since it's the same company. I wish Waterstones shipped free to the US like Blackwells b/c Waterstones has SUCH cool special editions but you have to sell a kidney to pay for shipping. It stinks.
Completely agree! Although, there are some anomalies that are awesome. It is annoying Waterstones don't do that. Not sure what their excuse is....
Will
Lovely video, you two. The only Katherine Arden book I've read was Small Spaces, the first of her middle grade horror series. So, The Warm Hands of Ghosts has been on my radar. Happy reading.
How was Small Spaces? Hope you enjoy The Warm Hands of Ghosts :).
Will
@thebrothersgwynne Will, Small Spaces is an enjoyable middle grade book, the first in a 4 book series. I liked it, probably more than my 11 year old daughter did. Have a great day.
Does Sadie have a sword of her own?
Hah, I'm sure she does!
Will
