It's great for the size and the price, BUT the 4" portrait 480x800 pixel display is too narrow. Some of the text is lost in some situations. So I just ordered the Launch CRP919E with the bigger 7" landscape 1024x600 pixel display, and 60% higher display resolution. It has a battery and big memory too, and it scans any car. And it's less than twice the price of the Creader Elite.

@MasterTechLou well that was fast! Thank you very much. I'll do some searching on how to access the function. At least I know now that it's possible. Much appreciated. Stay well sir!
For a 08 w211 e350, would you be able to go into the vehicle manufacturing coding settings and enable the “amg sport” option which would allow you to use paddle shifters and enable “M” mode instead of being limited to C/S so you can truly control the gears? You said this acts like STAR in a way and one of the menus seemed like it had a list of factory options to enable for the car so I don’t know if it can or not. Other than that this thing looks sick way better than what I’ve looked at as of now.
Honestly I think it could. Since it does have access to codings this thing is basically like the bigger x431 launch but just single model. Its really cool . I really like this thing. Very few quirks. One is just the screen size.
@@MasterTechLou if it doesn’t work can I return it for a full refund? Because everything I’m reading is saying you need to use STAR, Xentry, Vediamo, or some other brand of scanner that apparently can do all that as well but it costs around 2k for the scanner. From what I’ve seen from videos and read online, what im trying to do is add an SCN code to my vehicles ecu so that way itll register “hey let me enable manual shift mode if he presses the button again and we’re in sport mode”. Ty for your help boss I really appreciate it 🤝
@@toastymemes9346 eh scn coding is not that, scn is after programming , scn is to update the servers with the ecu information. Then a cvn is returned for completion. If memory serves me . Youre having to change coding and or in some rare instances update VeDoc which then yes you have to have something more powerful.

Hi Lou ! I have MB CLK W209 3.2CDI, and I have bug problem with segments on instrument cluster. When I activate the tempomat, there is no indication on the speedometer, can I use that diagnose tool to make the segments appear again. It dissapear when I put other instrument cluster cause the old died, the coding is OK. There is a function on the star diagnose in troubleshooting when you connect with instrument cluster for that problem I think..
Please tell what this device can't do? I know it's cheap but ultimately you could get a STAR system which can do everything. Also I noticed there is W140 in the list. I wonder how could you use it with W140 considering it has a round port under the hood while OBD2 port won't provide a lot of information.
you buy an adapter for the round port to 16 pin. this will not program or software update nor can the star you buy, only the dealer star scanner at the dealer can update and software update and program.

It SHOULD do the initialization (relearning) of the tailgate. I just had to do one after a dead battery in a 2015. I thought we could do this with the door button or lift gate button but it wasnt working. If I get one in the shop ill try it!
@Master Tech Lou I bought the scanner. I first did the initialization for the tailgate, which the scanner said was completed. However, that did not fix the tailgate automatic function, still the same that it will not lift or go down. Then, I looked to see if there was an option for recoding the SCN but found out that recoding is not available unless you have already backed up the code. So I was dismayed as I thought the coding is already bad and even if I were to back it up it would be useless. Then I thought what if I cleared the error codes. The tailgate control (HKS) had 3 error codes in my case. After clearing the error codes voila, the tailgate started to function!. So, in my opinion, the fix is simply to clear the error codes and if that doesn't fix it then perform a "initialization" which is a provided function in the scanner. For future I have backed up the coding from the HKS on my scanner so if this happens again and if there is a need I would be able to restore the code.
@@ahmed085 ok so you are correct. That is what we do in the shop. Clear codes then initialize tailgate (relearn) and its good to go. In very early 12’ models we had to reprogram the module before it would work such a quirky system. Im still convinced theres a way without a scanner but havent had the chance to prove it. Nice job.
@Master Tech Lou Alright, that makes sense. I had come across another video that had given me the impression that recoding was the solution. I would have thought so too that there should be an easier way to fix the damn tailgate function rather than having to go to a workshop. If you find out a simpler way do share on your channel, it will help out a lot of us !
No. Only dealers can add keys. Aftermarket scanners CAN add keys but they end up costing around 6k for the whole setup. I could be wrong. But duplicating benz keys is expensive

Learned all of that back in 03? And never really had to explain it since 😂. Youre having to change coding and or in some rare instances update VeDoc which then yes you have to have something more powerful.
Hi Lou, I'm getting a replacement key as I lost one. Would this tool allow me to cancel the lost key so that it's safe in my mind. Thank you.
Good question, I think it would, just not be able to unblock. If I can, I will try it and get back.
This can not block a key . I just tried it on my W220 and there is no menu for the key blocking and unblocking.
Great content, Lou. What is the best value scanner for MB for the advanced DIY mechanic? There are so many scanners, I was considering an Autel, but not sure which one. Now this one comes up for less than $200. So what are your thoughts? Thanks.

Can this code in a different tire size in a Mercedes? Thinking about increasing my sidewall by 5mm but I'd like my speedo and odo to be corrected afterwards.
@@MasterTechLou Thank you for your help and advice, is this tool called Launch elite 431

@@davohnpruitt3513 pretty much yes,
Will this scanner reset my ac code on my 2007 mercedes benz e350 or do all scanners do that
Yes this will, and I will say almost any scanner that is an “all systems scanner” that can read the ac control module, will erase the code too.
Would this also allow me to program a new battery to my car if i were to switch it myself? Also if i change the fuel filter, can i bleed out the system with this?
Not all of our models need a battery program. But yes it will allow you to program battery specs in the sam. And we dont use this for fuel filter bleeding at least not in my experience.
Hey Lou, would this do a recoding of power liftgate control module after a dead battery on my 2013 ml350 ? If it does could you do a tutorial :D
It SHOULD do the initialization (relearning) of the tailgate. I just had to do one after a dead battery in a 2015. I thought we could do this with the door button or lift gate button but it wasnt working. If I get one in the shop ill try it!
@Master Tech Lou Thank you Sir ! I will give it a shot.
Hi, can it adjust the idle speed ?
Hey, man. I have such a question can I use this scanner to add a key to the system? I can 't understand how this can be done ?
No. Only dealers can add keys. Aftermarket scanners CAN add keys but they end up costing around 6k for the whole setup. I could be wrong.
But duplicating benz keys is expensive
Hello, I'm having doubts between this and the Icarsoft MB v3. Does this one work properly after the one year subscription ends?
Yes both will work the subscription is just for future updates. The only difference that I can see is the size of screen. But so far launch is better than icarsoft in my experience but I have yet to try the v3.0. It almost looks like it has autel software.

Good review as I need to grow up and get something better than these silly little sub-$50 bluetooth thingys with an app on my smartphone. I bought a somewhat expensive one years ago when I had a VW, but it's useless for anything else.
Right now, my fleet consists of a Ford, Ram, two Mazdas, a Toyota and Mitsubishi. If you're saying I need to sub for each car, that would be a little pricey up front, but pay off in the long run.
You are right but there are other models that incorporate all brands. Look at the other launch models I do like this brand but I also like the A30M its very comparable in price. But id also recommend a foxwell or icarsoft that has bidirectional control. I plan on doing a video encompassing all the differences and what one would look for.
