Ooo man shame it had to end like this! But fair play for filming it and sharing your experience with others
Do a full tutorial on upgrading the internals.
I love you two collaborate and help each other out.
Please never let that change.
🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼😎🍀
Aw mate that is rough, annoying as it is, it has made some good content mate! Some good information in there aswell mate.
Look forward to seeing what is next, you always seem so much more chill than I would be in this situation ha
Great video Bryn👍👍
love your content! thank you!
Thanks for the support :)
Ouch, that's unlucky. Looks like you have a big job ahead of you. Great video for helping people like me. Cheers Man.
Great honest video.
I'm really enjoying seeing a master at work being thrown some serious curveballs and actually coming out with some success.
The bent rod(s) couldn't have been foreseen so it's just a case of working through the issues one at a time although that's morale sappong and time consuming, the feeling when it runs at the end will be galactic!
NICE ONE BRYN :) at least you got a spare alternator ! we all have those days , slap a new piston and rod in here and hopefully shes good to go
Looking forward to that guide for the belt, definitely something I wanna tackle myself, and record myself struggling all the way through it, ever with your guidance! 😂😂
Mistakes can be good, lots of learning potential. Well done for owning up 👍Any job I do on my drive results in every tool box out of the garage and thoroughly rummaged through 😂😂
It made me laugh when you owned up to the alternative belt but that sucks about the bent rod, looking forward to the next vid and where your going with this tt
I hope no skateboards were injured in the making of this video...
😂😂
You really need the Eastenders theme tune to start the Elderberry saga vids...lol....
Love these videos from Bryan. He always takes a "belt and braces" approach....
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Haha cheers
When it’s someone else’s car, you’re fixing, you take extra care.
😂😑🤨
Makes me miss my Elderberry, everyday was an adventure....
TDi Avant - cant go wrong
That was my best friends TT, He had nothing but trouble with it. I tried to tell him it was not fit for purpose but hey what do I know? only been in the trade 45 years off and on. I hope you find an engine to replace the broken one.
ouch been there with the classic 1.8t rod knock, they are almost a requirement for being replaced these days if you want to run any sort of power increase. guessing that engines had a generic map in the past
Yep they really are made of cheese
Bryn, there was me thinking the worst it could be was the forgotten alternator belt, then it turns out you were sold a pup with a bent rod. Sorry you’ve had such a nightmare, hope you get some redress on this one: clearly someone did the dirty somewhere along the line.
Bryn was well aware of the entire history before he took it on, please do not assume we sold him something that he even said in the original video for a price he could recoup by removing and selling maybe 2 to 3 parts of the car to recover his money if he needed to.
Have a look how much 18" Bola B1 Wheels and tyres cost, Stance Pro coilovers, Porsche Brembo Calipers, a £650 clutch kit etc
If you listen tonthe story, it was us that got ripped off, bryn saved our relationship by taking this on too God bless him 🙏
In respect to Bryn and I, we will not divulge the sale price
Many thanks for your interest in this car and its history 👍🏻🍻
Hi mate. Not sure if you're able to help, but my AUQ 1.8T Leon has been having issues with starting and driving lately, went to start the other day no good jist kept cranking not firing, code reader said it was Cam/crankshaft sensors so replaced both just incase now same codes come up 😢 P0321 & P0322 are the codes. Do you know what else it could be? Ive checked wiring seems ok...
A friend of mine said about it skipping a tooth on the timing now im paranoid lol
You need to manually check the timing and take it from there
Haha...you r human! Lol. Shit happens with that alternator belt. Bummer on that bent rod!! Grrrr. Parrot Bros Rock! ❤
Serious question/story here..my friend drove my 225 (never again!) and downshifted into 3rd from 65MPH (he was out of practice), now I have that same EXACT rod knock on cylinder 1 (I haven't measured like you did yet). So it looks like a lower-end rebuild. Top end was inspected with no issues. QUESTION: is it still safe to drive? Or is it a grenade ready to go off and brick the engine? Is it worth rebuilding (forged rods/pistons=yummy) or put a new/old engine in it? I want to upgrade my turbo eventually, so it seems a rebuild would be the best move??? thanks for the video Brian!
Honestly, I wouldn’t drive it, at the moment you need a set of rods, but that could change to needing a block aswell if it goes bang.
@@BWSTT so do you recommend a new set of forged rods (rebuild)? OR just replace the engine with a fresher one? I do want to get a larger turbo, and I have 3" exhaust, and with a stage 2 tune..but that's as far as I want to go with it (no 400hp stuff, 280-300 range). I don't want to do a new gearbox, etc. I would love a response as I'm currently in a dilema with what to do..MANY THANKS IN RESPONSE AND I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
@King_Henry if you ever want to go bigger power, you might aswell do rods now, do it once do it right
thanks mate I'll be looking into doing that!!! cheers, King Henry@@BWSTT
What comes after 67?
16?
Did you have a misfire code?
Nope
Full send
Rebuild it :)
Put a set of rods in it and go😊
Hehe, welcome to the 'ah i'm an idiot' club :P
I feel like a founding member 😂
😲😲😲 You left the belt off of the alternator?? 😭😭
Yep, what an idiot!
I'm sorry that we all told you to work on the Elderberry TT. This has been an awful couple weeks for you. 😓😣
We all make a fuck up from time to time.move on is the right thing to do m8.i have a mk1 seat leon cupra r and there is no videos as good as your 1s on about my car so that's wiy I like yours as its the same engine. Keep macking the good videos m8.
Could be worse .if it was the timing belt 😅
mEcaNiK😂
This is bs bud. Hope you can get your money back. Part it?
GOOD ON YA . SO EITHER WAY IT WORKED OUT FOR THE BEST ,NOT 25 YEARS TOO LATE RECENT PURCHASED 225 SO PERFECT TIMING BELT LOL
same wheels as mine!
What does alternator have to do with starting of the car.......it will start but won't charge the battery
With a flat battery the car cannot run unless the alternator is providing power…..
@BWSTT for it to provide power to car has to start first but I get ur point
Little bit of wrong info there...
We managed to get a refund for the engine as it was miss-sold as complete via paypal £528 as it was missing loads of parts webjad to salvage from the old engine...
And are yet to negotiate a refund for incorrect timing as only having come back from 6 weeks in Manila...
And, I havr a feeling itvWas in factvboosted with the timing out when test driven by the mechanic, but not 100% but would make sense if there was No knocking at 1st start even 1 tooth out... Just thinking methodically and logically by the words said at the time it was given back to me...
We are Sooo psst right now at how badly this was attempted to be fixed...
I just wish that that Bryn here did the repair... 3.5k down and out of pocket
But at least it is in good hands now...
I guess thats the price we pay for listening to bad advice in fixing local as opposed to specialists a little further out...
The last time Bryn saw it running right was when he diagnosed the engine mount hanging off that I was told was a dodgy CV joint...
And as you could see, they put the wrong bolts in the mount that had to be helicoiled...
The Car had been amazing, unfortunately the mechanic had been the lemon 🍋
Bryn has been amazing as always too!
3.5k for an engine repair? Isnt that steep even for UK?
@@gplusgplus2286 Engine, Clutch, timing kit, oils, parts transfers from 1 engine to the other, pads, discs, labour etc as you can see, alot of money has been spent 3.5k inc more than just the engine swap, it was a recorded loss on money spent upgrading etc 👍🏻
