Hey dude! I’m currently 16 minutes into this video, and I agree with everything, you said, so far! At the risk of being too egotistical, I am assuming you are referencing a recent video of mine… In the beginning, I did feel pressured into going Atmos. And my opinion was because I was losing money. I still am losing money on an almost daily basis, because every client is going, Atmos, and I’m not able to provide that for them… Yet… what is unfortunate about a video like the one I posted blowing up as hard as it has, is the lack of context in which people see my opinions. I’m the most excited about this journey for the sake of the music. It may have started out of fear, and because I was losing money, but it has completely shifted from that, and, I am excited for the future because of the creative possibilities. Nothing more, nothing less. I wish I could have gotten that point across more in my video… And I wish all the people sharing that video could have watched previous videos, and videos I have posted since to better understand my perspective. At the end of the day it’s my fault for not providing my entire perspective in a single video. Looking forward to watching the rest of this video, but so far I love the perspective.

Great to hear of your sonic adventures recently. Looking forward to seeing you shortly. Loved BlueRay format in past. It lost market penetration during the 2008 Market Decline. Should it come back at Budget level, I would be very pleased. Regards, Brian.

Great video Justin! Very interesting and true points! I hope it serves as a reality check for many. There’s a lot of misinformation at the moment and people pretending to be experts. I think we as an industry have to be responsible with our peers, and not put the pressure on engineers/producers to buy an atmos system. On the other side we need to be conscious that you can’t put 12 speakers in your room and call yourself and immersive mixer, it takes a lot of practice and work to learn how to honor the music in the format. Thanks for the video !

How can I get work creating original Atmos Justin?

The easiest way would be to work with logic and a pair of headphones. As I mentioned, this is not a way to mix, but you can absolutely create some powerful music in this way, and then send that to a mixer once you are done with the composition, tracking and editing.
