@@Nortwich honestly the craft of creating a spear or bow and arrow is technical, to produce one that works well and lasts, special woods, straight shafts, flint knapping or sharpened steel. It is a viable weapon for many for hunting and self defense, not everyone in the world has or is allowed firearms. Ever travelled? You should see what tribesmen in Kenya carry! In Nigeria around Christmas 140 Christians were sent to Jesus by evil radical Muslims using mainly machetes. There's still a place for weapons such as these for hunting and self defense.
