Heh, it was overload, I ate so much food by the time we left back to Houston I was so stuffed I could barely even eat anything.

Welcome to Singapore. You guys should visit more hawker centres for better and cheaper local food options instead of the food in the malls. Example, Encik Tan wanton mee is below average in my opinion. Only have it if there's no other options out there. Never ever choose mixed vegetable rice stall from food courts in shopping malls. They are overpriced for similar stuff you can get at fraction of the price in hawker centres and kopitiams.

Yes, you are right on the hawker centers. I've pretty much been to them all but this particular trip we had to cram so much into to just 3 days that it was hard to hit every spot. Plus, it seemed like we were always full from the get go since there was just so much to eat. And the biggest thing for me was to be able to eat in comfort. Most of the best hawker centers are non-AC and being that we're not accustomed to the heat and humidity of Singapore we sort of stayed away from those. My personal favorite is eating at People's Park or Newton's Circle. But yeah, I definitely agree with you. Thanks for watching!

Yeah $13 for that plate of mixed vegetable rice obviously is a rip off. Food at orchard road tends to be priced higher but not $13. For something similar away from the city centre, it should cost abt $5-$7 for what you've ordered. If you noticed, most of the seafood eg....fish, prawns, crabs are highly priced at food outlets in Singapore.

Yup, I know. I knew it right away when the guy was holding up a calculator to show me the price. That's something you expect when haggling for some electronics at Sim Lim Tower. Out of all the SEA countries we found Singaporeans to be the least friendly of the bunch. For whatever reason, people people there tend to be impatient and rude. Not always the case as we met a lot of very kind and helpful people as well but it was definitely more prevalent than other countries in the area. Hate to say it but its the truth that a lot of people don't want to admit.

@@Kenshirokan Just an insight, more than half of the Singapore population are now made up of foreign workers, foreigners taking up citizenship or Permanent residents due to the open door policy by the government. Perhaps, the unfriendly ones you encountered might be or might not be Singaporeans. 😅 Most of the F&B jobs are shunned by the locals and taken up by non-locals.
