I ran into Jerry recently and couldn't believe my eyes. Such a cool dude!
Thanks to the confidence that this channel has instilled in me, I'm officially doing my own wrenching in my car, and even though it's minor stuff, I'm extremely proud to have gone from basically nothing to diagnosing an issue and sleuthing it out. I didn't think I'd get such satisfaction doing this; I'm absolutely hooked, and I wouldn't be here without the channel and My Summer Car. Cars are pain, but I've accepted this, and I'm looking forward to this new journey. Thank you!
EDIT: I DID IT!!!!!!! It went from an undiagnosed issue to a snappy, responsive 4-banger! I can't describe this feeling. 6 months ago, all I could do was change a tire and check all the levels of the fluids; but thanks to the inspiration from Donut and the random car sim games I've played, I CAN DO REAL CAR STUFF. I fixed an engine that was bogging down and then misfiring a cylinder; IF YOU'RE READING THIS AND LACK THE CONFIDENCE, YOU CAN DO IT TOO. I can't describe the elation, other than Nolan during the Hi-Low engine swap episode; he's the embodiment of all of us, glowing with joy at the creation of some truly buff horses. Guys and girls, I'm still humming with happiness, and even though cars are pain, this feeling is why we endure it all. I feel like I'm finally an amateur mechanic, and a REAL CAR GUY. I can't shake this smile, and I hope everyone that reads this gets to experience this feeling. The smell of hot rubber, exhaust, and sweat; the sounds of an engine happily idling and accepting any throttle given to her, and a dash clear of indicators: all is well, and all is GOOD. I'm so freaking happy and excited and just... wow. Not to mention what I saved not going to a mechanic. I'm so happy!

Donut is my absolute favorite thing in the world. I went from a guy who kinda liked cars to a tech with a career in automotive all because of 1 little episode I came across of something called up to speed. It's been a journey and I have Donut to thank for that.

No lie, the ES300 probably will clean up nice. Not flashy, but comfy and would have enough room for “activities” for the date. Reliable as hell to not leave you stranded but has some amenities like cruise control when “focusing on other things”, an auto too to have the other hand some place else. Lol
If anything, that car would show that girl and her parents the idea of “if you take care of things, they will last” that car will likely stay running when the couple gets grandchildren.

Nah, that Caddy had a front bench seat. “Hands down” the winner. Plus seats like a sofa, plus unreliable so it breaks down and you have to keep each other warm.

I have a pristine 95 Lexus SC400 in my collection. I replaced slightly worn seats with some from a later model that were flawless and the same color, buttery soft, thick leather and SO comfortable, plus seat heat. The dash has a flushmount CarPlay system that looks factory as it's on the downward slope with no bezel needed and no gap, it rumbles to life with a glorious Lambo-like starter noise and then V8 burble, and is a joy to drive. The A/C is frostbite cold as soon as started. Nobody can believe it's that old.
Toyotas are built to LAST if taken care of. As for a date car, it's two seats behind a 1UZFE V8 with a lovely sound and has some of Calty Design's sexiest lines in a sports coupe. So hell yes.
