The reason for the jesko bare carbon being so expensive is that when it's painted they can use/stitch together any direction or shape of carbon fibre as it can't be seen. Because its on show in the bare carbon option they have to carefully make all the carbon fibre perfectly in line for the whole of the car and it takes alot more time to do so. Still an insane price but there's the reasoning behind it
It is the same concept as painted house trim versus stained wood trim. Much more care is taken to the wood selection, handling, sanding and finishing. Everything will be seen. I once worked with a builder who did a special concrete floor, for a house, and he said they had to use special pencils for marking framing and also had to keep the concrete covered for the entire build.
But really, at a $3 million purchase price, $460K seems like they are giving it away... I just need a few lottery tickets to hit and I'll be ready to place my order...
Bare carbon is usually hyper expensive due to the fact that they'll have to produce the panels in such a way that all the lines on it are perfectly aligned with one another, meaning that they have to make bespoke panels just for you
Indeed, and to my knowledge, there's no machine that can automate that process fully, so, in many parts they have to manually weave the fibers by hand, sometimes done for artistic flair as well.

As an avid watch collector and owner of several watches with Swiss tourbillon movements, the x10 may even be short. Swiss tourbillon movements (just the movement without the actual watch) can be upwards of $60k. Breitling and Bentley are two HUGE luxury brands, and the two together will command an enormous value. I was worried it would be over $200k!
Most amazingly of all, a wristwatch solves all the problems a tourbillon was designed to fix-- simply by being worn on your wrist. The tourbillon's whole purpose is to compensate for the constant pull of gravity by turning the escapement over once per minute, balancing out the imbalances. This was for pocketwatches that stay vertical in a wearer's pocket for prolonged amounts of time. A wristwatch is always changing position on your arm, so it's never needed.
The price is reasonable. A tourbillon watch by any of the Holy Trinity would cost at least that much. EDIT: That was before I saw that it was a Breitling. No way a Breitling tourbillon can carry that price, even with the diamonds and (what looked like a) MOP dial.

Regarding the Breitling Tourbillon, close to $100,000 is fairly common for luxury tourbillon wristwatches from brands like JLC, Gruebel Forsey, Cartier, etc. The price is due to the complexity and the craftsmanship that is done by hand to produce the movements. $160,000 may be crazy in general, but in the luxury watch world and complex movement, that sort of money is perfectly normal for something like a tourbillon. Just some info on that part! Keep up the sick videos guys. P.S. Nolan, budget watches exists and not all of them are crap like MVMT's, I think you could certainly pull off a good Seiko 5 or Tissot PRX! 😉
Why would I get a non-removable Breitling in my Bentley for 160k, if I could get LOADS of Breitling wristwatches for that amount of money? That's just ridiculous 😂
Breitling used to your "entry" level luxury watch at $5-14k...they now can be $35-60K... And the most expensive is a grand-pa pocket watch called The Grande Complication... Drum roll please - - $280,700 ....So $160k, well, there you go...

I have an idea why the bare carbon fiber is more expensive. It has to do with the warranty, they are willing to do some repairs to the carbon fiber so you pay extra for that since the painted option has a protective layer on the carbon.
I knew you all were screwed when he started listing the Breitling clock specs. It was hilarious hearing you read the specs out as a watch guy and car guy. I didn’t even know Breitling made watches that high end but as soon as you said tourbillon I knew it was expensive.. that’s like the holy grail in the watch world lol
I don't know what prices are like in the USA, but people often are surprised by the price of OEM rims here in Canada. My stock 19" rims for my Q50RS are around $1800 a rim the last time I checked. Most rims on domestic vehicles are around $1000 each as well, and that would be for stock 16" or 17" rims.
the Tourbillion and self winding feature of that clock is why it's so expensive; plus the fact it's a Breitling; I assume it's in a housing that rotates the clock to wind it, cause i'm not sure how it's gonna wind itself otherwise, but the tourbillion alone in most high end watches will start at probably $30K, depending on the brand; add the jewels, housing and other features along with the complexity of the movement, as well as having to make their watch to a size specific to vehicle application, and you got yourself an overpriced, but very accurate, clock
Sorry, Breitling sells a pocket watch, the Grande Complication for a mere $280,700 ... and that's without any customization... It's all about how rare, how ostentatious you want your things to be, not their functionality..
go to an automobile manufacturer plant and take a look it's organized chaos. some of these may seem outlandish, but imagine the interruption to the production line when they have to build this, someone has to schedule this, manage the inventory, perform quality inspection, do safety analysis, someone has to order this, some engineers have to figure out how to put this in the car seamlessly.
That's how much obscene wealth there is out there in the hands of so few people... think of how many people you come into contact with regularly that are on food stamps, govt assistance, struggling paycheck to paycheck, one accident away from homelessness... then think of someone who buys a Bently AND dash clock for an additional $160,000... this wealth gap is starting to get disgusting.
This is good content guys. Keep doing more technical stuff too but these guess-on-costs videos feel more interactive since we all guess watching them too.
Bare CF is not going to be the same as what is under a paint job. It takes a ton of effort to get the weave and seams to line up and look good. When the part is getting paint they can slap the fabric on any way they want because you'll never see it. And "bare" CF still needs some sort of finish unless you also want to feel the weave. The resin it's formed with isn't laid on thick enough to provide a smooth surface. So there is still basically all the same sanding and finishing you'd expect with a regular paint job.
the watch - i'm a watch person and i can tell you exactly what those jargons mean. the mainspring barrel is basically the power reserve of a mechanical watch. mechanical watches does not run off any form of battery, but from kinetic energy. the mainspring is essentially a spring that gets winded up tighter and tighter and then the kinetic energy from the spring unwinding is what powers the watch. (think wind up toys). a tourbillion is basically a mass of rotating gearsets that spins around in a fixed location in the watch (think earth's rotation). they come as either 2 axis or 3 axis and the more axes, the more efficient and better at countering gravity. their purpose is to counter the effect of gravity on the watch's movement. the movement is essentially the entire mechanism of a mechanical watch that makes it work as a mechanical watch. gravity will affect a mechanical watch's accuracy, hence the tourbillion is there to maintain accuracy. hope i've explained it well enough! bph stands for beats per hour. in other words, hertz. the higher the bph, the smoother the second hand on the watch ticks. normal watches ticks once per second, now imagine a mechanical watch ticking 28800 times per hour, about 8 ticks per sec. but yeah, if you buy an expensive mechanical watch, you're essentially paying for purely the craftsmanship.

On the ZL1 wheels for the Camaro is my favorite moment ever cause I know there's a ton of Camaro owners who think those are the best Wheels ever made, no they're ugly, they're heavy, and if you don't count Z28 reps they're the most common Camaro wheels out there lol
camaro owners have terrible taste so that checks out.
@@CRneu as a Camaro owner I can confirm. We're 3rd place behind Toyota Celica and matrix owners on "Terrible taste" podium
get the base model then buy all the options you wanted aftermarket, like wheels, oem wheels are expensive and not even cool looking, just buy some volks or works or bbs, for same price or less you get much better upgrade than factory would give you
I don't even really care much about cars, but you guys goofing around makes a good show. Love a bit of joe content.
18:07 poor jerry just be like awh dude, dude, awh dude
The best part of that video hands down was Jeremiah's reaction when he took the first sip!
7:59 the B&O 3D sound system for an RS Q8 is listed at $4,900 on Audi's website - wonder where did the $19,500 price tag mentioned in the video come from?
yea its 6.450,00 EUR (6305usd) here where the fucking cars are made... lmao
Thanks 😂.
The amount of times Jerry said “dude” at the end of the video is so funny
I was able to order my fully loaded 2022 AUDI RS6 Avant that can go 190 MPH for less money then that watch cost. Holy cow.
Bare carbon is more expensive because the weave needs to be perfect and aligned across all panels
just got my hi low subclass poster in mail and i cant wait for a whole new hi low series ☝🏽
I really love this videos of them guessing prices. especially those 3. Great videos guys and please make more it's so much fun :D
7:30 *cactus on shirt changes too*
When it said tourbillion It had to be 150k+. I saw an ad for a watch that was a tourbillion and thought that's cool and wanted to see the price, it was 2 Million....2 MILLION!
7:25 the snapping even changes the colour of the cactus. Now THAT is what I call impressive.
These three had me laughing the whole time! Thanks for making my morning, Donut!
I hate how invasive gambling has become.
Yea, especially when they grab your arms and put them behind your back so you cant just skip the ~45 second ad.
They don't have to put the slider that lets you know how long the ad is, but they do it anyway. Gotta get that sponsor money to fund videos.
@@wheredaboof6492 They dont have to take gambling sponsorships though... I think the comment is about how common it has become. Not that he minds sponsorships or even a gambling company sponsoring. Its the fact that in a short time it has become so accepted and common place when it can be a really bad thing.
@@mikej5959 well, this is the internet.
@@javaking1000... how? Boomer.
no cap, The camp stove is actually a really cool and useful option if you ever used your 6 figure EV for off roading.
I love you guys. The friendship on display here make me smile the biggest smile :)
I think answers should be written down on a whiteboard and each reveled after the actual price is announced.
Love seeing Joe in videos after hearing him in almost every podcast episode. Make sure to check out Past Gas Podcast, it's about cars it's not about farts!
7:24 He's so powerful he can also change Nolan's shirt
Nolan doesn't change but Jobe did
Regarding the Breitling Tourbillon, close to $100,000 is fairly common for luxury tourbillon wristwatches from brands like JLC, Gruebel Forsey, Cartier, etc.
The camaro wheels are standard option on the 1LE and ZL1. I had to warranty one on my 13 1LE and it was 1400 Canadian in 2014
$443,400 extra to not have paint 😂😂😂 that’s insane
Why would I get a non-removable Breitling in my Bentley for 160k, if I could get LOADS of Breitling wristwatches for that amount of money? That's just ridiculous 😂
Breitling used to your "entry" level luxury watch at $5-14k...they now can be $35-60K... And the most expensive is a grand-pa pocket watch called The Grande Complication...
Drum roll please - - $280,700 ....So $160k, well, there you go...
Either they are about to give away the rs3 or they are sponsored or they are really proud of it cause its been in like 4 things and they've been only talking about how good it is and on the car guesser shorts they talk about how it feels and sounds like a bigger better car
I love how expensive mag wheels were. If your brakes got too hot and got the wheel too hot then it would burn a hole in the asphalt lol
The genius of Donut is whomever comes up with the ad ideas, they are the only channel I don’t skip the ads Channel sponsored ads. My favorite are uncle Jerry’s Keeps ads (I’m not bald, they’re just entertaining)
Damn safari won’t let me edit. Disregard the typo.
15:20 it has a TOURBILLON so I'm not surprised it's over $100k
Breitling watches are handmade and can be filled with real gold, jewelry and they are expensive as they are for Bentley accessory options.
I think the Granite trim is a touch thing more than a look thing. It's probably really nice to touch and its a huge flex.
Granite is incredibly common and very cheap in large quantities. Thats what makes it so insane.
@@splix85 the hard part is shaping those stone on the shape on the car interior and looks seamless
But granite really isn't great to touch - it retains heat or cold really well and just isn't super awesome to handle.
@@megimargareth4015 and the cost to ship large quantities, with both weight and fragility
It’s shit. Wood is already just useless weight that gets greasy, granite is literally filling your car with fucking rocks 😂
1:37 we see who's more comfortable and who's not lol
I have an idea why the bare carbon fiber is more expensive. It has to do with the warranty, they are willing to do some repairs to the carbon fiber so you pay extra for that since the painted option has a protective layer on the carbon.
I knew you all were screwed when he started listing the Breitling clock specs. It was hilarious hearing you read the specs out as a watch guy and car guy. I didn’t even know Breitling made watches that high end but as soon as you said tourbillon I knew it was expensive.. that’s like the holy grail in the watch world lol
Hey I have Been a huge fan for years I love y’all
I've never wished harder for Nolan to win one of these...
its up to the script writers lmao
You’re paying like $15 per utensil for that Rivian thing 😂
7:25 Not only does the car's color change, so does the cactus on Zach's shirt!
2:56 i guessed it right. just randomly i thought it must be 5k 😂
the Tourbillion and self winding feature of that clock is why it's so expensive; plus the fact it's a Breitling; I assume it's in a housing that rotates the clock to wind it, cause i'm not sure how it's gonna wind itself otherwise, but the tourbillion alone in most high end watches will start at probably $30K, depending on the brand; add the jewels, housing and other features along with the complexity of the movement, as well as having to make their watch to a size specific to vehicle application, and you got yourself an overpriced, but very accurate, clock
I'm glad someone commented about the tourbillion :D
Sorry, Breitling sells a pocket watch, the Grande Complication for a mere $280,700 ... and that's without any customization... It's all about how rare, how ostentatious you want your things to be, not their functionality..
Love drinking a beer at 8 a.m. and watching Donut Media! :)
Nice. I'm just substituting beer for some wake and bake lol
8am...You good, bro?
Yeah bruh you got a problem
go to an automobile manufacturer plant and take a look it's organized chaos. some of these may seem outlandish, but imagine the interruption to the production line when they have to build this, someone has to schedule this, manage the inventory, perform quality inspection, do safety analysis, someone has to order this, some engineers have to figure out how to put this in the car seamlessly.
The jesko would charge more for no paint because the carbon weave will be visible so they will have to ramp up the inspection of the panels
Hold up, I just checked. The Bang and Olufsen option on an RS Q8 is $4900, not $19000
Did they as about the RSQ8?
@@jonasthemovie Yeah, that's the car they showed.
@@MistahWorldwide Is it the same? Option with that price range does not mention noise cancelling.
@@jonasthemovie It's the only Bang and Olufsen option it shows on the build configurator.
1:14 i love how fake it is but still funny 😂
That's how much obscene wealth there is out there in the hands of so few people... think of how many people you come into contact with regularly that are on food stamps, govt assistance, struggling paycheck to paycheck, one accident away from homelessness... then think of someone who buys a Bently AND dash clock for an additional $160,000... this wealth gap is starting to get disgusting.
It always has been
This is good content guys. Keep doing more technical stuff too but these guess-on-costs videos feel more interactive since we all guess watching them too.
It really hits home when a no paint option costs more than a new build 4 bedroom detached house in a reasonable area in the UK.
7:05 I bet 45k on the RR. Almost got it lol
I miss the old donut.
High low drag cars?
Great idea
