I appreciate all of the things happening in the new railroader videos, it's great seeing a decent chunk of trains, and the perk for Engineer tier members. However, at the end of the video where it was just you going up Alarka, Hyce, I felt in my soul the mental reclusiveness happening. I love your work, and I live your ADHD pain, but remember to take care of you, too.
So, the day this video dropped I tripled the length of my own railroad, and for the first time broke my no dept rule. I now have $30,000 of dept to buy a new engine that can actually handle the freight jobs and have set the new rule that dept is allowable but only for one train purchase and I can't get any more until I have paid that dept off. Also, I still haven't put anything in the dirt yet, even when running 40-50 around corners. Side note, the corner where you ate it is good for 49mph, it does make a hell of a lot of noise but doesn't damage anything or derail stuff and getting it under 47 makes it not make any noise at all. So that puts me behind by the wye, and the Alarka branch extension. Still running solo, and still have a perfect 100%safety/110%rep record. Slowly catching up.
Something makes me wonder if your operation might benefit from setting the interchange schedule later into the morning, such that you can clear out Sylva with a hefty road-switcher at dawn and dump that stuff in the Atlantic's lap before anyone's even thinking abour second breakf- ehem. second interchange, which would be more midday or afternoon. This might not befit the timescale, but I figure an IRL road that burns IRL daylight at scale would like a more even interchange time spacing a little better. The other idea being that the shortline would technically be less full if you clean up and then take deliveries as opposed to vice versa
While i dont know what happened once he pulled out of sylva, i hope that all of those cars got set in the interchange before that timeskip and second delivery, because i've drfinitely had days where i kicked myself for scheduling another interchange and not getting all the cars bound for it in there first. IIRC my singleplayer save has the interchange set to go at the earliest possible time so i have the most daylight to run, and with only having to run freight as far as robinsons, i can usually pull a single freight east-west and take the others back to interchange by the end of the day Granted i'm working with far fewer engines and industries, but it's been effective so far. Doesnt give a ton of downtime for maintenance, but thats why i run at track speeds, dont have to repair what you havent browned!
Hour and 8 minute mark. that first corner coming down from Gov island you can do at least 50 through, next corner is a max of 45. So yes, derail the hell out of the lead engines doing 56 around a curve. And if your boys really want to haul ass for the passenger trains. Get the F7a and F7b unit mods. Set the notch 8, top speed is confirmed at 65mph.
55:00 its doing that because your engine's in MU mode where it magically matches the controls of whatever engine its coupled to, not because of the cutout
I use the little tank locomotive for alarka since the switching is a little interesting sometimes. I wanted to buy one of every loco and it seemed to fit. It doesnt have a lot of coal and water capacity so it works well there since it is never super far from service.
So Alarka starts with a diesel fuel stand unlike the other engine facilities. It might be time to introduce diesel power to the ES&DT as the Alarka switcher.

The logging mike tank! Its actually useful as a whittier switcher because its short length means you can fit more cars in front of it on those switchbacks by ela and whittier sawmill. I imagine it's equally useful for walker, and connelly's 3rd tracks, but it would probably have to refuel at every shop along the way to make it to alarka, that tender holds 1 ton of coal and if it runs out, its gonna take a while to get another engine to the branch to pull it out lol

here's how I would switch interchange cars at Dillsboro:
Eastbound:
-Unit trains to Robinson Gap
[front of the train here]
-Ela
-West of Bryson [starting from easternmost location, first to drop off]: Wesser: Park Service; Hewitt: Talc and Limestone T1, T2, T3, T4; Nantahala: House Track, Union Lumber, Power and Light R1, O1
-Alarka (self-explanatory)
-Bryson: Team Track, House Track, Standard Oil, Lumber and Coal
Appalachian Hardwoods R1, G3A, G3B (split into two sections once arrived at Bryson)
-Whittier: Connelly Creek (sort at Whittier Yard), Sawmill loading tracks&C2, Hollifield Heating, Stenzel Mfg
-Wilmot
Westbound [These are easier to sort out at their respective destinations, except for interchange] [front of the train]:
-Dillsboro [starting from westernmost location]: Freight House, Fuel, Locust Pin
-Sylva [starting from westernmost location]: Coal & Lumber, S1, CS1, R1B, R1A, PW1, HD1, (P2 & P3), SP1, SH1, PW1, HD1
-Interchange
theoretically, organising the cars this way, assuming your westbound freight doubles as a local, will allow you to simply pull up, uncouple cars and go on your merry way
so the reverse of this? got it.

I like it more when its broken up more like this one. chaos is fun but overwhelming. save the total chaos for streams. try to keep videos at least a little tiny bit structured
think its better to all be in one voice channel as its lacking the full context of whats going on in the video
Hey dude love the videos, fun times! How do you do the mouse-drag horn thing? A mod?
Press the V key and drag! Built into the game.
@@Hyce777 thanks dude!
Hello hyce, it's me demo 4 40 I wanted to ask you a question. Are you going to release a new q&a for centuries esteem on studio 346 because. It's been a good month since the last q&a and it's already next month. So are we going to get our new q&a? Just want to know. Thank you.
Hey hyce if you do buy another big mainline locomotive you should call it chungus or the big stupid
Can you check out the return of the arcade and Attica 18?
Wasnt there a tank engine in this games lineup? Maybe get that for the new engine, if for nothing else than variety
1:26:33 so would you call that a C-68 sandwich?
what train are you using?
Shame I can’t upload pictures on here
There is a dillsbro yard uppgrade is there not?
Yes, and we already have it.
@@Hyce777 WHEN WILL YALL GET SOMES caboose at the back of your train?
@@hackerman298sir this is the ES&DT

And when is the next cursed trains stream coming?
How do you get it to show the grade of the track your on?
Shift+? (question mark key) while hovering a cursor over track.

I enjoyed the massive mix of everyone in Channel as it gives a break from the brain rot meme personalities. It's kinda hard to watch with the constant brainrot.
I hereby warn anyone who sees this comment to turn away now unless you A) want to go insane B) are already insane
also depending on what device you are seeing this on the 'diagrams' might be borked, sorry about that
sorting of arrived train:
3 cuts of cars:
-local
-destination "A"
-destination "B"
make sure to plan ahead in how the cars are arranged
sort caboose* onto "local" cut; local cut has to be moved again to suit industry needs
(*more of a regular wagon that can be equipped with marker lights)
sorting of departing train:
always grab shortest cut and flatswitch onto longest cut, progressively building up the train's length
"systematic marshalling"
A)'tiered' method:
clean marshalled cuts form one at a time
marshalling of 9-section train using the 4 track schema
(DEFAULT drawing of yard for reference)
