It is an absolute privilege to introduce this 1960 Ford Sunliner as part of our St. Louis Showroom. One look at this car from its gorgeous lines and body symmetry to the tuxedo black paint and tri-tone interior will make you feel like you are in Ford-Euphoria. This car is not a 10-footer, a 5-footer or even a 2 footer, this car is the REAL DEAL. This car underwent a restoration in 2012 including new paint, new interior, new ball joints, convertible top cylinders and motor, driveshaft and ring and pinion. This hidden gem is finally revealed to be alive and well and ready for its next round of presentation.
This is the crown jewel of the 1960 Ford line and this coveted convertible is among very few survivors from this period. The Gold-Toned “Sunliner” badges just let you know that this car is and was something substantial. Imagine yourself and your friends and family cruising up to the next Sock-Hop or Classic Car Show in this Black Beauty. This is a car that will never have an empty dance card. Finished in the desirable combination of black with a black top and Tri-Tone Black, Red and White Interior, this car is as elegant as it is handsome. In 1960 the American automotive industry was keeping up with advancements in science, engineering and styling representative of our major accomplishments in aviation and future space travel. By the end of the 1950’s Ford had decided to abandon some of the hype of advancements in aviation and look towards the future styling of our advanced space program. This vehicle competed in what was called “The Space Race” of automobile design, similar to the real “Space Race” that was happening. Although created 9 years before we would see the surface of the moon, this car was already a fore-thought the in minds of Ford designers.
This particular vehicle features the ever-popular 292 CI engine affectionately referred to as the “Thunderbird V8” mated to the upgraded Cruise-O-Matic 3 speed automatic transmission. The overhead cam 292 Y-Block featured a 3.75" Bore and Stroke and produced 193 Horsepower at 4,400 RPMs and 280 ft. LBS of torque. This car is not only an excitement on the eyes but also a pleasure to drive. You will truly send all 4 of your senses into complete ecstasy and will be begging for a fifth. One turn of the key and you will fall in love with the smooth idle and soft rumble of that V8. Power steering, brakes and a meticulously restored suspension make cruising in this car a pleasure. Not only do the lines and horizontal fins look great from any angle but they actually play tricks on the human eye. The rear fins are almost completely horizontal but on certain angles they look to be “eyebrow” shaped and bending towards the quarter panels. This is due to the shape and style of the trim and even in person will play tricks on you. The “Half-Moon Tailight Eyes” were not accidental and instead a pre-cursor of what was to happen in space travel almost a decade later.
If you are looking for a show-quality, convertible from the glory days of American automotive design, look no further. This has had a lot of attention since arriving so please call ahead if you are interested in driving in to seeing this vehicle. Fantastic Sunliner! Just Gorgeous. I was never a fan of these in the '60s but they have grown on me over time and I really like them now. A couple of notes, it does not have power brakes. ?? I did see a rare option they had, the handle on the seat is a mechanical recliner for the rear of the seat. A friend had a '59 with this option and it worked really well.

I owned this exact car ... except I didn't have the skirts and had wire wheels with "spinners". Everything else is identical down to colors.
I would put the top down, go to the store and when I'd come back out there was always a crowd around the car ooing and ahhhing!
I loved it. I was really stupid to sell it and buy that Buick Wildcat!

Perhaps a bigger selling point would be to take the top down & demonstrate the iconic 1960 Sunliner's full potential

2 questions unrelated to the car - what camera are you using to take the video and what is the music sample?

You didn't put the roof down! So either it doesn't work or you are amateurs.
