For sale in our St. Louis showroom is an absolutely stunning 1951 Ford Convertible. The infamous "Shoebox" Ford was introduced in 1949 and was the first new design for Ford since WWII. Pre-war body styles were streamlined with integrated fenders and a sleek slab side look. Passenger comfort was improved by offering more interior room and adding smoother riding front coil spring suspension. The Pre-war Ford power plants were carried over, but the top of the line Flathead V8 now offered a neat 100 horsepower! This '51 model is the most desirable body style Ford offered: the convertible. Finished in a glossy bright red, this Ford was loaded with chrome. From the double bullet front end to the styled chrome rear bumper, this one has plenty of options including: back up lights, fog lights, stainless fender trim, fender skirts, hub caps, gas door lock, gas door stainless trim, and side mirrors. Clearly a top of the line example, this drop top has the 100 HP Flat head and a three speed manual transmission shifted on the column. The engine has been lightly modified including a Mercury crankshaft and mild cam. The engine has a healthy sound that gurgles from the dual chrome tip exhaust. The interior has been restored as well and features tri-tone seat leather in a beautiful geometric print. The dashboard screams the 1950s with its art-deco gauges. Watch the speedometer arm sweep across and frame your speed in its viewfinder. 1951 featured Ford's new "turn key" ignition which eliminated the floor mounted starter button in favor of the modern set up we're used to today. Another very interesting feature on this '51 is the dealer installed Air Conditioning unit that will keep you cool through the summer. The interesting styling touches on this car are too numerous to mention. This really is a must see to appreciate car.
