Like#3 Omg a real life ball!! :) The long stair case, the chandelier, the high ceilings, your dress, the formal dancing! :) This takes me right back to all of the Cinderella types of movies. That was a great picture of you and your husband on the stairs. Awesome video, thumbs all the way up!!
Thank you! The poor dress has been shoved in a closet ever since (although I did take it out once during quarantine for a little fun: ruclips.net/video/acUP2WExR-w/видео.html) I hope you get to visit Austria soon!
Looking very lovely in your ball gown 🙂. Cool that you got a lesson in the Waltz. What a great evening and experience and great that you both had such a good time 👍🙂
The waltz was so hard. I was hoping it was more of a box-step, but there was a lot of lining up and waving your arms around, and then something to do with changing partners, and the guy I was supposed to be exchanged with left in the middle of the dance so I was standing in the middle of two rows alone. It was so embarrassing. But watching the professionals was wonderful! LOL
Opulent is a fabulous word for it!!! And the crazy thing is, that was just one small portion of the palace. Not even a full wing, just a part of one of the many wings in the complex. The size of that place is mind-boggling! Thanks for watching! :)
This is amazing! I didn’t know they still held balls nowadays, definitely want to go there someday! Just curious, are there any things you must know before attending? Like how to do the dances and stuff?
I went in completely clueless! They did have the band play a waltz, and someone stood at the front on the stage trying to teach a group of 500 accountants to waltz properly. We formed two lines and tried to do the steps, and it was a hilarious and complete disaster. But so fun! ;)
It depends which ball. There are over 200 per year . The physicians ball is very formal. Everyone wears an evening gown and men in tuxedos. It does add to the fun if you already know how to waltz. They have orchestras and it is fabulous! There are other balls as well ,but I don’t know all the details about the other ones.
Thank you! That video was 2 seconds long, remember BC? My friend didn't record it properly, so I was able to get a photo from the 2 second clip and that was it. :(
Benjamin Chavez It felt pretty glamorous! Now I’m back to reality where I wear sweatpants and shower every second day. LOL At least I had that night! 😜
Are they really still a thing!! Wow!!! I would love to go to a real ball! I can’t dance though, but still, getting to go would be awesome!!! That palace is beautiful!!! Wow!!! You really did celebrate in style!! You looked gorgeous!!
Oh, I'm not fancy enough for a ball- but it was fun for a night! I can't imagine being a royal and having to do that kind of stuff all the time. It would be exhausting! ;)
The dress was a big purchase for me, since I'm pretty cheap when it comes to clothes. I think I spent about $450 on it. The rest, however, was all part and parcel with my husband's work. They organized the ball and the buses to take us there. :)
@@DowntheWrabbitHole ohh, I see. I looked up the prices for last years ball and the cheapest one, without food, seating, etc was 70 euros for students up to 26yo. It’s not as expensive as I thought it would be, so hopefully saving for a some years (I’m not from the USA, so euros are like... really expensive) I could afford paying hotel and transportation without being such a burden. Thank you for answering!
I can't imagine the bill footed by your husband's work on that one! The inside, no matter the room, was exceptional. It looked like a blast! I think I would have hung out with the gambling room haha! Very nice video! Glad you enjoyed yourself as well!
Somehow it all comes out of the partners' shares in the company, not sure how exactly it works, but I was bedazzled by the whole affair so I'm not going to question it, just enjoy! ;) The gambling room was fun but I was really bad at the games. Turns out I'm not quite the wine snob I thought I was! LOL
I did not see anyone wearing one when we went, but then again, most of us are from rural Canada so we are not usually the diadem sort of folk! ;) I can't see why it wouldn't be allowed; it was a very elegant function and a beautiful headpiece like that would be perfect! :)
Oh you definitely should! It is an amazing city, easy to navigate with a ton of history. I'll be posting a ton of stuff on the city in the next few weeks, so stay tuned! :)
There was so much to do! We'd be occupied in a different room watching a performance or playing a wine-related gambling game and then find out we'd missed a spectacular performance in another room. Definitely not complaining - just trying to capture the amazing show the Hofburg put on for us! :)
Getting fancy schmancy. I would have to go just to say I had been, but it did sound like some of those other rooms were more fun. It is funny to think what Franz Joseph may have looked like dancing to Barbie Girl.
Almost all the taxation levied from Austria and Hungary went into building the Magnificent Hofburg Palace. The Emperor of the Powerful Austro-Hungarian Empire had wealth beyond the dreams of ordinary mortals. The Hofburg Palace was build to show the power and wealth of the Emperor....it was just one of his many palaces.
Oh there’s definitely an imbalance of power and usually is when you see palaces as luxurious as that. Hopefully now the tourism and tourist dollars it draws in can finally benefit the people of the country!!
Weird seeing not viennese People visiting auf Ball They have this whole Routine before going there As someone who attents balls like 7 times a year you just go there whithout anything special before
Lucky to go to balls that many times in a year! I'd go broke buying ball gowns! LOL I think they threw the pre-dinner and party for us just because we were part of a big company and they wanted to make it all swanky. I'm definitely not complaining! ;)
@@DowntheWrabbitHole Of course not who would complain:) I mean you have to differntiate between the more "casual" , of course no Ball is casual, and the really fancy balls like the Opernball, Philharmonikerball or the TC. They are like a whole new level. From what i saw your Ball was really light on dresscode. Althought your Dress was absolutly fine and also looked great, your husband wouldnt be allowed in. Suit and tie is just to casual. If you ever get another chance at visiting a Ball please keep an eye on the dresscode. Great Video tho:)
Ahhh, I see what you mean! I think the organizers were trying to make things easier for us, as every attendee was flying in from Canada. While I was crazy enough to vacuum-seal a ball gown and cart it across the ocean, I don't think everyone else was too keen on packing coat tails and princess dresses in their suitcases! LOL I would love to attend a legitimate ball one day, though, where everyone looks as if they stepped from a fairytale! :)
What a cool experience to attend a real ball! Your dress was really pretty! :)
If you ever need to borrow a legit ballgown, you know where to go! LOL I have no idea when I'll ever wear it again!
@@DowntheWrabbitHole THANKS! I will keep that in mind!!!!

I so want to go here
I didn't know 'balls' still existed, but I'm so grateful I got to experience one! :)
Thanks for sharing your gown is beautiful I can’t wait to visit

Hopefully soon we'll all be back traveling! :) Fingers crossed COVID jut fizzles out, and soon!

Oh it was more funny than anything I guess. I'm used to being the worst one on the dance floor! LOL
Wow, that was wonderful! I watched the whole thing. Your dress is lovely. And I love all of the opulence. Just imagine living in one of them ♥

Very interesting. I would love to hear that concert , dancing is a special feeling. Left s like and full view, life with Ken and jane
I wish we'd gotten more footage of us dancing - maybe not the waltzing disaster, but at least some of the slow dancing! :) Oh well. NEXT ball. LOL
Looks like it was a fantastic night! Such amazing venues! Great video Marti! 👍🏼
The whole evening was just so surreal. I was like, "Um, I'm a hillbilly from Alberta. What am I doing here?" LOL
That's quite the party! Both palaces looked amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, the Palais Pallavicini was crazy fancy for a dinner party, and the Hofburg was indescribable. My video didn't even do it justice!
That's an amazing ball Marti!!! What an opportunity, you're so lucky!!!!
I am incredibly lucky and spoiled, I fully admit it! I'm so grateful to Joey's company for throwing such an amazing bash!
CINDERELLA MRTI! Awesome night they were so in sync too. That would be a dream to dance like that. Beautiful pictures of you all! Berto😎❤️😎❤️
The dancers sure were lovely - I tried to learn the waltz, Berto, and it was insanely hard. Not the dance for me! LOL
Lol it’s okay you just look pretty n smile😂.
ha ha - duly noted for next time! LOL
incredible and unforgetable experience! nice share, i have been to vienna but i went with a guy friend so no ball for us, lol
Yeah, probably not quite the event you are looking for on a guy's trip! ;)
What a beautiful place, what a beautiful gown, ty for taking us with you 🤗🤗❣
Those ballrooms were so beautiful, between the chandeliers and the lighting... thank you for watching! :)
What a night! Bet you felt like a princess!
