£190 for an OXFORD BALL? We flew to one in VIENNA for LESS

- My Austrian friends will be amused by this, my Oxford friends probably shocked. Since I came to university, the fact that a ticket to a white tie ball in Oxford is £190+ seemed like a bit of a joke.
This is why Bobby and I set out to prove that this is ridiculous. In February - before the onset of the pandemic - we made a short trip to Vienna to attend the 100th anniversary of the Elmayer Kränzchen, one of Vienna’s most established balls, hosted at the Imperial Palace, the former Emperor’s residence.
THE ENTIRE TRIP COST US £154.26 - including travel costs, the ball tickets, food, drinks, and accommodation. We made a 4-minute video documenting our entire trip and all expenses we incurred if you don’t believe me. Enjoy.

Cool idea, but this was every-so-slightly hypocritical: "For environmental reasons we do not recommend recreating it"
They could have even offset the carbon emissions from their flight and remained well under budget. A return flight from London Gatwick to Vienna in economy releases about 0.4t of CO2, which costs £2.40 to offset
