Chris, how's it been since you did the install? RaceChip does have a unit for my '20 BMW X2, and I'm toying with the idea of installing one, but have concerns on warranty since I take my vehicle to the BMW dealer for maintenance.
Ah yeah…I completely understand being hesitant to mess with your warranty. Personally, I wouldn’t risk it. But to answer your question, it held up really well until I solid it a couple years ago.
They’re essentially 6 different tunes that you can choose from depending on what your engine like best. In theory, the 6th level has the highest horsepower, but it only works if the engine responds to it well. Hard to describe outside of just feeling it. At sea level with no support mods, I needed #6. In Denver (5,300 ft elevation) with an intake and aluminum charge pipe, I needed #4
Hey you’re messaging me on Facebook right now, this is my RUclips video for the tune. I don’t have experience with the JB4 so I couldn’t say, but in my experience the RaceChip gave me more power while having plenty of reliability so I liked it for that reason
yo, i got the same rs version for my n55 x5 2013. do you know if jb4 is better than the rc rs (by better i mean worth spending $500 for the extra power?)
I would say the JB4 is a bit better because it’s made by a company that focuses on BMWs, whereas RaceChip doesn’t focus on specific brands. That just means the JB4 is made by people who know the N55 engine much much better, so after using the RC for a few months now I can say I’d rather have the JB4.
Thank you! I just went with RaceChip because of how easily it can be adjusted and how incredible their customer service is. MHD is a great option as well!
It’s been great! No complaints. When I moved to higher altitude, I could easily just adjust the mapping with the wheel on the front to make sure I had the right air/fuel mixture.
What wheel are you talking about? I'm in Denver as well, really thinking about getting a race chip. I have a sprint booster v3 and intake on my 2.0 t lexus.
@@NeauxLA_Man actually no difference in throttle response or turbo lag, RaceChip sells a separate device called the XLR that's like a SprintBooster and changes the throttle mapping. but for my uses, I prefer it this way. since i'm driving this in traffic every day, I like that the throttle response is comfortable in comfort mode. you just feel a much more noticeable punch when you hit boost. also i use the dragy to record 0-60, which has been tested to be as accurate as the VBox while a fraction of the price. thanks for watching!
@@NeauxLA_Man yeah no app control, I think that only came with the GTS for my car but I can’t remember. I wouldn’t have wanted it anyway because I’m working on a budget
For only increasing the hp by 60 and being an off-the-shelf tune, I think 0.6 seconds is fairly impressive. Plus, it feels much faster than that. Brake boosting a launch doesn’t do this mod justice because the drivetrain’s ability to accelerate from a dead stop holds it back.
@@TheCarEnthusiast I remapped a 1.6 Diesel that went from 105bhp to 146.9bhp and the 0-60 went from 9.0 to 7.5 and that rolling road ecu remap cost less than a Racechip 🤷🏼♂️ I think you should put it on the dyno to see if it’s getting the claimed 60bhp because 60BHP from a plug in box is asking a lot lol
@@Mr330d but also keep in mind that you were adding 40% more power to your car and I was only adding 20% to mine. It’s relative. Plus, the 1.6 diesels weigh a couple hundred pounds less than the N55 cars. And 0-60 gets harder to shave off the faster the car gets, so going from 9 to 7.5 is much easier than shaving off a second and a half from a car that already does sub-6. Takes way more power to do so.
I would actually like to see a follow up video on this. Gas consumption, day to day experience etc.
"Goodness Gracious!" That should be your catchphrase right there 😅 Cool video
LOL you’re right 😂

Can you explain the difference between the 6 levels

I have a 15 M235i I was gonna do the RS chip j for stock , you think I should j get the JB4?

Lol wow great video man! .. would you recommend this over an ECU remap?
For me, this is a way better option because it's totally reversible in just a few minutes in your own garage. Thanks for watching!

Do you need to turn off your racechip for daily drive??
What do you mean? It always stays plugged in and powered on
@@TheCarEnthusiast Oh, never mind😂Great vid btw.
I honestly think mhd would be the cheaper and best option for anyone but good video regardless.

do you feel that the throttle is more responsive or that there is less turbo lag because of the re-mapping of the tuner?
Also, what did you use to track 0-60 times?
