@@duanek6051 sadly (since I owe a lot to Steve Howe from the old days), I have to agree. this version is almost as authentic, and is definitely superior instrumentally AND vocally.
@@bndeyo yes kind of sad. I have upmost respect for Steve. (with ASIA as well) Seen YES long ago and on Union tour with my brother a great night indeed. Tough to watch current iteration.
What a remarkable collaboration. Band Geeks have infused these classics with technical excellence and more importantly a real feel and love for the music.
I'm blown away!! - this has to be the most difficult set on the Planet!! Band Geeks absolutely nail it! what musicianship and skill. Yes lives again!! Thanks you so much for recording this!! Fantastic.
I was in attendance. It was an exceptionally strong performance. Jon's voice was on point and the Geeks absolutely crushed it. The Yes heads in the audience were absolutely blown away by the impeccable musicianship and the excellent / clear sound. The Capital One Hall has excellent acoustics. Many said it was the best Yes show they've ever seen. You would have thought it was the record, but better - highly accurate without flubs with the benefit of the outstanding improvisational sections.
Ha...Jon cut short the keyboard solo during CTTE. Oh, well, the Band Geeks are total pros and adapted on the fly. It was great to see Jon jumping up and down at one point during the jam part. They all look like they're having such a great time. So much energy in the players. Jon was wise to collaborate with these guys.
saw Yes the first time in summer of 1972; that's right 51 years. how on earth is Jon still doing this? wow is all I can say. band geeks are amazing too. thanks for posting this. wanted to see this. Live but could not. Vienna VA is my hometown
When I saw Yes first was 1976 Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City, I never would have thought that another group of musicians would be able to recreate their sound. Fast forward, where there is such an amazing amount of talent across the globe. I'm sure there are countless musicians out there that could play these songs, technically. Now having Jon, helps to achieve the level we witness here (although Ann-Marie is a close second ?) But what Rich and the Geeks bring ia a level of RESPECT for the notes on the page. Their authenticity overflows thru them. This music means as much to them as it does to the rest of us. Bravo Andy and Andy.
I’ve seen quite a few audience videos from this tour, and just from the first song, I can say that this is the best quality vid of any I’ve seen! ( but I’m still gonna buy the dvd or whatever that Richie hinted at (strongly) in his gear rundown video).. thanks for posting this!
@@chrisgale5634 I've seen other people (maybe on different vids from the same tour) bothered that the drumming wasn't heavy enough. I think Andy A. is excellent, esp for primarily a KB player.
Whenever something seems too good to be true it usually is. This is one of those rare exceptions. This reminds of the first few times I saw Yes back the early 70''s.
Jon will be eighty years old next year, but he seems indestructible on stage, His vocal range, presence and musical appetite have hardly been affected at all by his age (let alone by his serious ilness around the time he left Yes). A couple years ago I compared him to Placido Domingo, another legendary singer whose vocal power has barely aged - the comparison still holds true. ❤❤
Nice job on this video. The quality is excellent for an amateur recording. I saw them in Reading, PA. They sound better here and the stage setup here is much better. The stage in Reading seemed cramped.
Hello old friend. This was an excellent show! Thanks so much for starting me out on my journey with prog rock (Yes-style!). Say hello to the family for me.
I was there as well. Close to the filmer apparently. Anyway, great show. Great sound. Unbelievable performance. Much better than pretend Yes. Jon should just call this YES. He has more claim to the name than Howe. He is a founding member by the way. Anyway, would see this show again in a minute
DESPERATELY need a real, through the board audio track to this. These performances deserve much higher quality than cell phone audio is capable of delivering. I know from their online videos that Richie and the Geeks are capable of absolutely nailing the tone and balance of the original performance without losing any of the spontaneity of performing it live in a single take as a BAND! I hope there is audio forthcoming of this tour that will do it justice. I saw Yes live many times. These guys do it as well as the classic lineup did in the early 70s.
@@paulquinn7980 Show was better night one Jon was sick last night coughing and nose issues The band is not tight the bass man is no Chris Squire needs to learn HOTS and boy do you appreciate Rick Wakeman when it takes 2 Keymen to do the job of one and Rick still blew them away I thought Todd Mobile was the best Yes cover band
Great audio quality here at this show I attended. Jon sounds amazing considering he was still recuperating from a touch of the flu which unfortunately cancelled the backstage passes he offered me earlier. I usually dislike a overly noisy crowd but this suburban venue audience south of Wash., DC were almost in a comatose state! But it was fun to hear these YES classics with Jon A and this great cover band.
Quelle classe quelle élégance des musiciens brillantissimes et Jon qui a sa voix de ses vingt ans totalement incroyable. Bravo c est la perfection rien n est laissé au hasard.
Assuming this is an audience video (right?), it’s got to be among the best looking AND sounding ones I’ve ever seen! Also, props to Chris Carter for not letting someone else’s false start in C.T.T.E. cost any more than 5% for nothing.
The bassist is Richie Castellano lead guitarist for Blue Oyster Cult. I did not know he was also an amazing bass player. So much talent on this stage. Love the guitar work. Heck I love it all. So glad Jon teamed up with this top notch band. They sound soooo good.
This is SO good. I’ve seen Yes several times throughout the years, and this incantation is absolutely spot on, crisp, and such a pleasure to experience… Thanks for capturing the moments!!🎸🌊🏄♂️🌊🎸💕👀👍👂👀
Oof. Jon stepped hard on Chris' keyboard solo in Close To The edge. Almost seemless recovery. Someone who didn't know it so well wouldn't have noticed. Great performance none the less. I was there and didn't notice at the time I was so enraptured.
Jon had a little brain fart and came in early. (He's unbelievably fantastic, but even he is a mere mortal). The band went with him without hesitation, and consummate pro Chris Clark backed off and re-adjusted with barely a flinch.
@@bobg4657 Yes could have had anyone replace him, then. But they never did. I'm not one of those "Bruford was better than White" or "White was better than Bruford" guys. They were different. I love them both. I was very sad to see Bruford leave Yes and went on to follow Bruford's subsequent career with great interest and enjoyed the music he made after Yes, especially with the fusion band Bruford. But Alan brought his own style to Yes, a much heavier, pounding and powerful sound. Bruford was intricate and brilliantly creative. White was like a locomotive. I am glad he did not try to be something he was not. Similarly, I don't get into the Wakeman vs Kaye vs Moraz vs Downes etc. etc. etc. At this level all were terrific musicians and each brought their own elements to the sound of the band. As Yes fans we are fortunate to have had so many great players entertain us over the years.
When I saw Yes on the 90125 tour they had Tony Kaye on keyboards. He was a real wizard keeping up with Trevor Rabin even on some of his solos. These two keyboardists seem average at best. Just my opinion. Absolutely LOVE Jon! His voice is just as good as it was back in the day.
What a difference a drummer makes. I have watched many impressive Geeks studio presentations, noting the excellent post production could not compensate for the drummer’s light, uncertain touch. Yes, from beginning to end, featured impeccable drumming as the complicated compositions simply required grounding. That is sorely missed here.
