That being said, the Apple card isn't that good of a card anyway, it's just decent enough and people like Apple. For example, if you are going to use a credit card, a Chase CC has better cash back unless you already own an iPhone and can use Apple pay. Even then, I think some other banks have even higher cash back rates on their cards.

Dave, you should take 3 min and read the article. It stated that after making $500k and setting their budget they still "feel" average CNBC wasn't positioning them as average, quite the contrary, they were trying to show how easy it can be to fall into "lifestyle creep" and how a clearly above average income can quickly be consumed by many small poor choices. Then they make a statement I think you would agree with "Ultimately, a hefty paycheck doesn’t always guarantee wealth or financial peace of mind. By contrast, budgeting and living beneath your means, no matter your income level, can help you out tremendously in the long run."

You could use it to pay bills like gas, electric, insurance, cable etc. According to Dave’s mutual fund returning 12%, $240/yr for 20 years is almost $20,000.

      Angel Hernandez agreed
People just swipe and swipe and swipe without even having the money in the bank to cover the charges,
I use my credit card for things I know I have to pay and make sure the money in my account to cover anything I use the CC for cellphone, electric, internet etc and pay the full Bal off EVERY single month I just use it to get the cash back,
IMO if you are using a CC you have to be very responsible

The problem is human psychology. You spend more when you buy stuff with credit cards. If you think you're immune to the psychological effect, you're probably not.
That said, I see no problem with putting recurring monthly bills (e.g. cell phone service bill) on a rewards card and paying them off every month. You're not likely to be tempted into spending more on a recurring bill just because it's on a card.

A credit card only gives you benefits when you never plan to let your debt sit to where you pay interest. If you use a credit card to make normal purchases you would make anyhow then you can use the cashback and it can help your credit score which is good for your future. As for me I have a different credit card for every scenario. I have one for traveling points, one for cash back, one for extra cash back on dinning purchases, and now I have one that gives 3% on Apple products and I usually upgrade my iPhone every year so that’s the card I’ll use. So if you can utilize the perks of your card and be responsible and know what you can and can’t afford then you can use credit to your advantage.

13-24% interest?! that's insane. here I live, I replaced my debit card with a credit card as I got a better insurance service, things like car repair, on call, car towing etc. as I use others cars/work cars etc. and not my own. But I still use it as a debit card and only pay a yearly fee of like 25$ and I transfer money to it only when I'm out. The bank doesn't seem to like me as they won't even lend me money for anything because I pay everything off...
