Remember Bob Ross could paint a picture that looked like it took a month to paint, in a half hour. GOD BLESS Bob. Another beautiful work of art.

Yes, he was one of the grandmasters...very effective technique. The good thing is, there are SO many different artists out there on RUclips with SO MANY different approaches that you can pick anyone that fits to your own approach to painting...a more loose one or a very tight one.

Thank you Eloise :-))) I used back then the same 7 base colours that I use for most of my paintings: Titanium White, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Red, Phthalo Blue, Dioxazine Purple and Lamp Black

Thank you for sharing, Tobias! Truly, your eyes don't see things as most people do. Questions: Would this painting be as easy for you in regular oil paints? Are the water soluble oils faster to work with than regular oils? You mentioned it is size 14x28 (canvas I'm assuming), which is not a standard size, so do you make your own stretched boards?

You`re welcome :-))) As I use meanwhile only linseed oil to thin down the water mixable oil colours the painting process is exactly the same as with regular oils. Underpainting and final layer of colour with enough time to let the first layer of colour get bone dry (tip - work on several paintings at the same time, this will ensure that you always have something to work on). This here is an hdf plate that I buy here in Germany at a company called Boesner. Basically a 4 mm thin pressed mixture of fine wood and some glue that is coming primed with white colour on one side. I choose this format and just cut a regular 50x70 cm sheet to this size. Very flat, no canvas structure - I do like to work on those plates from time to time as a change to the stretched canvas that I also use.

@@brennerfineart I'm humbled by your descriptive response to answer questions and give me helpful info. You totally ROCK! I've only used Liquin, so am I missing something not using lineed oil?

Thanks a lot :-))) But as I said, it`s more hard work and doing this consistent over a long period of time. Painting is a craft one can learn with enough persistence it`s not a gift from heaven above ;-))))

That`s just because I do it now for over 20 years :-))) I`m convinced that nearly anyone can learn how to paint like that - it just needs dedication, careful observation and a ton of patience. No one ever was able to run before he could walk, and you know how clumsy the first steps are :-))) Keep at it, keep on pushing, keep on improving and you WILL be able to paint like that :-)))
