I love this work for its craft. However I miss the art. The artist is a fine craftsman, replicating the mechanical capture of the camera image. A great painting should reflect the artists response to the scene. It should evoke an emotional response. Capture something of a spiritual essence. Michael takes himself out of the equation and mechanically, with great precision and skill recreates a snapshot of the scene. Not trying to be harsh. I love the work and admire his skill
@@amlam9812 There can be a quality in painting that can't be seen in a printed picture. A printed picture is completely flat, but the paint in a picture can be applied opaquely. That can make it appear more 3 dimensional. Even if a painting is done in thin layers, the effect of light shining through every layer can make a picture seem to glow. Almost as if the light is coming from underneath.
This is one is for RUclips thanks for bringing Mr. Michael James Smith I enjoy his Artwork so much that is one of the Artist so Humble and very kind to His viewers.Thank You So Much RUclips .
I can't stop staring at this, can't stop replaying video, can't quit respecting the organization, color choices, careful sketching, camera setups, hours of taping that included brush dipping, tube squirts, breaks, tedious stroke after stroke, then the editing of tons of footage in several units: sneak peeks, 21 section lessons, RUclips video eliminating every tidbit not pertaining to brush strokes, figuring out the speed needed (creating the ghostly see thru hand) then music... Yet patient Mikey accomplished insurmountable task none of us would even lose sleep over. And there tis, powerful movement of water and currents captured perfectly. I revere the whole process. A process l used to have but allowed to slip away, am ashamed. Mikey refreshed my energy. Am gonna go grab my younger self and revel in it. Appreciate you in all ways Mikey. ♥️from🤠
Every time you add a new texture to something I think to myself "doesn't look that realistic", but all of a sudden it just pops like an optical illusion and I can't unsee it. Your skills are simply amazing
I have never missed any of these videos. They are so beautiful and inspiring... Especially the techniques on trees, they look absolutely real everytime
Probably my favorite painting of yours ever. Astonishingly beautiful. Had you not absolutely nailed the values, the painting would fall apart. Impressive work, my friend. Thank you so much for documenting the journey and sharing it with us.
Michael Smith's blocking-in phase (1st pass) almost looks like a complete painting. Comparatively, mine always look like a 5yr old just finished finger painting... only worse. Lol I have SO much to learn from Michael. It seems daunting, but his works are SO inspirational, it keeps me coming back for more. GREAT videos!
I know how you feel. I haven't been able to start painting from his lessons yet, even though I am enrolled to take them, I have to clean out a part of the house but because of covid we can not do that yet. But I know that when I start I truly do believe that my first attempts will look like a three or four year olds paintings. But I too watch him and dream about the day that I can at least give it a try.
That block in makes all the difference! It is the foundation of the whole thing, and he knows just how to do it. Not as easy as it looks, I agree with you!
I find comments like that to be completely insulting to the artist or the athlete or whatever person who has done an incredible amount of practice and hard work to get where they are. No imaginary man in the sky just decided to make this guy an incredibly skilled painter, he WORKED at it.
@@jefffawcett Yep , if ‘god’ just gave you abilities, no one needs to learn or be passionate about what they do. Craftsmanship is what we achieved and not what we are born with.
It 's amazing the skills he has to make such a realistic painting , I am amazed at how much patience and determination he has , I think it is so cool !
This is insanely perfect!! I thought it was an actual photograph. But its even better to see the ruch detail that goes into the painting. I appreciate this so much!

I still don't understand how the artist can paint a picture like this. So brilliant
WOW. Absolutely stunning. I always wondered how artists got that curve into water passing over things, and that transparency water gives. Its all about layering and brush strokes. This is 'proper art' if this was in a gallery this is what I would yearn to buy to put in my home.
This kind of art works make me feel like im one with the nature... Watching him do this is even more awesome. Such a wonderful feeling of peace and calmness. Thank you and more power to your program... Your works and your videos doing this masterpieces are here to relieve me from stress. I love nature and just wander into it. Now you took me closer to it like just looking out the window. 😍😃
This was an extraordinary piece MJS! Considering all the variations of color from the sunlit to shadowed portions, and the different shades beneath the water. I know that you had to make some next level, precise choices to get this result. 5 star composition! Ty so much
Humbly we bow to the Master of the Not Of This World Skills! Man!! That was SO beautiful to watch! I could feel that cold running water! I could smell those trees! Amazing!!! Thank you!
Its amazing to see how beautifully the painting comes out after so much time and patience by the artist . Before the advent of color printers only painters were there to do it. Just imagine the kings and nobles how thry got their painting done in the old times.
I'm still shocked....like is it even real or I'm dreaming???👀 It feels as if I could even step into the picture and can even pick a handful of water to drink....It looks so real!!!!! Amazing talent...!!!👏

its astonishing how so many simple strokes of the brush come together to make such a photo-realistic painting. Im gobsmacked.
The amount of detail with that little brush to bring that water and flora to life is mind blowing. Excellent work as always!
what we don't realize is how much time he has spent to get the right color; this looks so much like a picture that it looks less like a painting
