Is daycare commonly used for parents with young children? I am thinking of moving to China as a single mom of a 1 year old and I am wondering what I can do with my child while I am work. I have been teaching in Cambodia for 10 years and her she goes to a daycare/kindergarten school. Thanks for your content!

Great question. so "daycare" really isnt a thing. There are two other options, nursery school, which is practically daycare, but they call them schools, Or an "Ayi" which means aunt but is also a caregiver. You can usually higher an Ayi from as low as 4k rmb a month you just need a room for her to stay. not only will she stay at your place and look after your kid they usually clean the house and cook for you also. I might be a bit off on the price as I dont know anyone who has one post-pandemic just letting you know that is an option. Many of the students at my school have an Ayi. If you come when your daughter is 3, she will be in Kindergarten anyway, but you would need someone to take her and pick her up if your schedules don't align.

@collyslifeadventureinchina Do foreign teachers work at nursery schools?

@@rbcml47 Sometimes there is one if it is a very fancy one, but since there isn't much teaching to be done, there isn't much need.

Do they let you become a party member since you are married into the family?
