Kinbo Fake Market China Guangzhou. The Best and Biggest Wholesale Suppliers. Not What I Expected.
I usually do market videos on my channel c3thecollywoodlife. Still, this video is a China vlog that seems more informative and less of a fashion adventure, so I decided to post this fake market adventure here. The last time I mentioned, the Kinbo fake market in China was kinda closed, but now it's up and as busy as ever right before the Chinese New Year. Be sure to subscribe for more China vlogs and content.

Hi, thanks for a great video! Can we message about the process you'd suggest now for first time TEFL job in CN?
Really appreciate this video man. Working on the degree now, planning to be in Fuzhou by this Fall 👍
Hi! Does anybody know if this shopping area is open during the Chinese New Year (from January 29)?
No, it shuts down for the Chinese new year and will return sometime in February.
@ thanks👍🏻
Thank you for your information! You are a great teacher :)
I would be interested in hearing more about selling cables
Is there any comunication between the chinese doctor and canada do they like call to verify prescriptions?
No. You need to bring a prescription travel list from your doctor. In some cases, it will need to be officially translated. Then, they will do the tests related to the specific prescriptions and issue them. Keep in mind they rarely issue controlled substance prescriptions like painkillers or ADHD medication.
That area is called West Station street. It used to be massively busy in the 2000s where they never sold you 1 pc. It was a strictly a wholesale mkt. at very good prices. It’s a shade of what it was. Most are not factories or even make their own stuff. You not getting orders for few hundred pcs. Also the laws are much stricter now. It’s still interesting mkt to shop and pick up some unique stuffs. It has changed a lot over years.
do you think guangzhou is one of the nicest cities to live? prefer over shanghai, beijing?
Each city has its own perks. Shanghai is probably the nicest but is the most expensive. Guangzhou has the heat and is close to Hong Kong and Macau, The Same goes for Shenzhen. If you can't stand 30-40-degree weather in the summer, then you may not like it. Beijing, I don't like it. But if you want to travel around and see the Great Wall and tombs, it's a great place. Each place has its own local culture and things to do.
Hi, what is the best tefl certificate type you could get, the CELTA?
As long as it's 120 hours, any should be fine, to my knowledge. I've only heard of some British international schools requiring it to be a CELTA.
Colly, hi Brother. Great content! Bro Snide said you guys are gonna collabe. My question is, you said slowing down in March. What about first week of March? Good time to go? Sam
We are just trying to find the time. Hopefully, we can get out on a Saturday to do so. It's too hard to say because as March 15th comes around, the shops start moving their thing out. If I recall, last year, the first few days in March, the shops started to pack up. Its all speculation, though.
What is the best month time to visit guanzhou for shopping
Probably early January. right now, as everyone is getting ready for the chinese new year.
Thanks for the video Colly. I’ve been following your channel for the past year and has given me some places to check out each time I visit GZ. I’ll be back in Guangzhou next month and bringing my wife for her 1st time! Cant wait to show her around. Keep uploading💪🏽❤️
Thanks for following. You probably mean my market channel. This is my newer China vlog channel so be sure to give it a follow also. The market Channel will also have a new video up this week about winter items.
Are the perfumes and suitcases good quality ?
Yes. Perfumes are close but never perfect. Suitcases are easy to replicate.
Handbags im interested to see
I also visited the same building last month. Was the video taken in the morning?
No. I mentioned on Saturday it's best to go after 1pm. Even on weekdays, it's better to go closer to noon time.
@ Thank you. I will be in Guangzhou next month. I am looking forward to your new videos on the Market Channel.
Hello can you write the address in Chinese to arrive using e-haling apps please? Thanks
It is very confusing the layout of the market. Two sides. So, it should have more than an address to locate each part.
Or a map of the market. It seems like a maze!
Awsome video man how easy is it to pick city or is it a case of going where you are told. My wife is from shijiazhuang nd we are considering moving back to China from Scotland.
So many factors to keep in mind. There are more jobs in some cities than others. Tier-one cities can be pretty easy to find a job, but at the same time, it might be harder at first to find a job in the exact district you would want. Sometimes, it's all about timing, and it also depends on the offer you would want to take or a school that fits you well.
International Teacher here. I worked 7 years in China and left 17 March 2022 when it all went nuts. Interesting to see the scene there now for you guys. I will NEVER go back. If you stay a long time you may understand why. If you have a teaching licence you get paid double what unqualified gets. A teaching licence means you can roll up to any school in your home country and get a job in a school like you went to as a kid. So I was pulling in about 5k USD clear a month with good benefits on top. So it looks like licenced teachers up around 70kUSD a year now but I just will not go back even for the pay bump for a couple of years before 60yrs age cap. Yeh unqualified teachers with a degree and a TEFL back in the day pulled in 15 to 17 RMB a month so its nice path if you want to think about getting a license and a career in. So for young people may be good to get a teaching degree and pass your country licencing system. Or you can go QTS route for another way to get the licence. I'm a kinder teacher and at nearly 60 I don't have to work but I love it. Now in Myanmar and about to head to Uzbekistan. Fun life.
Very true. The main thing is with a bachelor of education/teaching license, you can get into international schools, and those are the golden ticket, but it can also be a lot more work. I would teach back home in Canada, but I don't like the politics in the school system at the moment. I understand why some people get tired of the China life, but at the same time, there are tons that love it and understand it. It's not for everyone.
Can you just come to china and find a teaching job or is it better to get one before you arrive?
It is hard to say. I would personally say yes, as doing in-person interviews and being able to do a demo class instead of online interviews is always better. It can also depend on the time of year, such as late December-February and August-September when semesters change. Sometimes, it's easier for the school to start the visa process with you when you are in person. You just need to make sure you have all the documents you need for the visa, as once you are here, it can be hard to get the things you need to be done from back home.

Hi.Im a non native with BA in English literature, a 120hr TEFL and 5years experience. Why cant l get a job offer from outside of China? Its getting really hard 😢
Do you mean, why can't you get a job offer in China? If that's the question, it's because you are not eligible for a work visa. You need to be a native speaker. If you are looking to teach english, then your only other options would be Vietnam or Thailand, as countries like Korea and Japan also require a native speaker, from my understanding. Sometimes, the best option for non-native speakers is to find work in their country with their degrees.
@@collyslifeadventureinchina thanks for your sarcastic reply! To be a native speaker doesn't mean that you are eligible or you can be a good teacher but means to be judged and paid for your passport! 😊 I've had job offers from other countries cuz lm quite eligible to be an English teacher (maybe not in China or...) but l wanted to work in China. Sometimes the best thing for a native speaker is to be nice and thoughtful when giving comments that are NOT facts!😊
@@coralgh6484 Sorry, I did not mean to come off as sarcastic. I was just trying to say in order to qualify for the work visa, you need to be a native speaker. That was the fact I was trying to get across. I have met a ton of horrible teachers who work in China just because they are from a native-speaking country and have a random bachelor's degree. You could have a PhD in english lit with years of experience, and China still wouldn't accept you. That's why I mentioned trying Vietnam or Thailand if you are looking in Asia.
@@collyslifeadventureinchina thanks for your kind reply. 🙏🌹
@@collyslifeadventureinchinacan I ask to clarify re the native speaker. I have a British passport, not born in uk however lived here 33 years of my life. I have a BA degree in finance and computing. With TEFL 120 hours after obtaining the certificate though I’ve never taught English to students or kids in classroom. Am I qualified to get work visa to work in China? Best to know beforehand if I am qualified before I delve and commit my time into getting online English certification. Also in terms of salary in my situation how much salary estimate I would get in a month. Doubt I will be able to get into private school as they only seek specialised teacher who has tons of experiences. Thank you.
That font on the thumbnail, aka Chop Suey or Wonton font, is Orientalist (covered by outlets like Wall Street Journal, CNN, and so forth). It doesn't match the vibe that you'd want to go for.
The font is Oriental, and my channel is about China...
Uh.. you did post that the property bought you don't "own" you don't really "own" property in China. The government owns all land and property.. you lease it for 70 years and have to relenquish it back. Once you get the property, tell me how it is after a year. You're mixing words here. Rent (you don't own) / Mortgage (you own)
You own the property, and you don't relinquish it back. Yes, you don't own the land, but you own the unit. after 70 years or 55 years, in some cases like lofts, you either pay a fee to lease the lot again or you start paying a property tax. In Canada, you pay property tax right off the rip on any property you own. The government will take a property back after the lease is up if they want to re-develop the area, but they almost always provide the unit owners with a new property in the new development. Sucks for sentimental value, but financially doesn't hurt the people. My wife has family members who are wealthy now because of development take backs. Yes there is the chance they will take the property as its written in law but it almost never happens. One of the reason China has things called nail houses.
Can you tell us ANY case about the owner relinquished their property in China? 😂😂😂
its not like you have a choice, if they want your land, they take it whenever and then demo the whole property. Many people lost their property and had to relinquish it due to the government wanting to establish the "Green tech" such as fields of solar panels. It is pretty documented.
yes, check on people had to relinquish their property in china and had their whole property demolished regardless if they liked it or not and solar panels where built in their place. It is WELL documented.
Actually you lease the land but own the building.
This is a rather speculative investment. It doesn't just feel like luxury. While not large, it is a luxury apartment in one of the most expensive places in the country of China. That square footage is more costly than a nice, upper-middle-class American suburb. Downtown real estate in America can fluctuate pretty wildly. The property market in China isn't exactly stable. You be the judge.
Great points. I wouldn't really call it an investment, as I don't expect the price to go up much. The main reason for buying would be to live in the apartment. The interest rates are very low, so instead of losing money to rent, the money just goes right back into the apartment. If I were to buy the property as an investment, I'd buy a place in Texas or back home in Canada, Vancouver, Toronto, the GTA or Calgary. The property market in Tier 1 cities is pretty stable, but the second you buy outside of Tier 1, it can fluctuate a lot.
The main issue with property investment in China is that its value primarily depends on appreciation. Buying a property to rent out isn't a smart financial move-that 82m² unit might only bring in $10,000 to $12,000 per year. In contrast, here in Texas, a brand-new property worth half a million dollars can generate over $30,000 a year in rental income.
I would never buy a property to rent out in China. If i did so it would have to be in my wife's name as foreigners can't rent out properties. If i was to have a rental property, it would be in Canada. I am getting a second property to live in, and my current property is smaller. A family member would use our current property.
I made a mortgage calculation, if you purchase a half million home with 20% down ($100k) at 6.95% interest rate (current market), you will be paying about 3k a month including home insurance and property tax. On top of that, to make an extra $30k a year income, you will need to rent out $5.5k a month. Is Texas rent per month that high? or you mean only getting $30k a year, without calculating the mortgage? In that case, you will be at a lost of $6k a year. Also I'm not even counting the $100k you have to invest first (down payment).
They're so lucky to have an awesome teacher like you. Does the school have a cirriculum for you to follow? And what vpn do you use to access Google for the learning materials (if you do that). Thanks
We follow the IB learning structure using units of inquiry and materials like RAZ and red rocket readers. I don't use a VPN in the classroom.
how much does the average person probably spend in GZ? 30k USD/220k RMB good enough for a single guy living an average life?
Do you mean yearly? Check out some of my cost of living videos.
@@collyslifeadventureinchina i saw, just surprised you said 30kish USD annual is a salary for someone with 0 experience teaching english. i know salaries can get really high depending on the city but i would've guessed 30k USD annually to be pretty average, no?
@@agsdjklshadsabn 30k USD is the low end for a legit first-year teacher. you can live a decent life with that salary. After a few year's experience, you can make 50k USD a year and live a nice life. If you get a teaching degree and credentials or a specialty, you can make even more.
@@collyslifeadventureinchina 50k is nice but i wouldn't want to force myself to wake up and teach 9-5 for years of my life, maybe as a last resort if i run out of funds. i was just curious what an average and above average salary looks like so i can plan out my spending for the future. do you think in tier 2 cities (think capital cities like hangzhou, nanjing etc) 30k USD annually (1850 rmb monthly) would be mid instead of low? or are you only saying it's low in the first place because you're comparing it to teachers, who still earn more than most local careers? interesting convo lmk
@@agsdjklshadsabn Yes, in tier 2 cities, it would be mid, but you are really only saving money on rent when you go to lower tier cities. The cost of living in all other aspects is pretty much the same. If you live wisely you save more money in a tier one city. If you dont want to teach for a long period, places like Guangzhou, Yiwu, and Shenzhen give you so many opportunities to start your own business.
What a beautiful home to live in! Thank you for making this video.❤
When Are too going to make new kinbo market video
Maybe this week. I plan on going today.
how to find a cheap condo?? Maybe near a station to city center
You won't find a cheap condo in the city centre or even really close to a metro station. The word cheap is subjective, however.
@@collyslifeadventureinchina around 300 or 400 dollars???
@@fearless6947 400 USD, you might find a one-bedroom on the very outskirts of Guangzhou, but it is impossible anywhere near the city centre, from my understanding. 600 USD would be a really good deal
@@collyslifeadventureinchina Are there condos, near train or underground station? 30 or 40 minutes ride towards the city center around $400 or less? Outskirts is far :( Are there any other cities with large shopping malls and super markets?? That offer affordable ($400 or less) condos. Sorry for asking so many questions. China is such a great place, I'm trying to figure out the affordability for myself. If it goes above budget, I might not be able to live there. Thanks for answering most of my questions
@@fearless6947 Yes, the outskirts of Guangzhou in areas such as Panyu are a 30-minute ride into the city centre. There are big malls in every community. Even tier 2 cities have huge shopping malls. You should travel to China to see first and find a place you want to stay. You can't just stay in China, though you would need to work out the Visa situation first.
I saw as foreign can only buy one and not rent it out or earn money from the properties? Is this not correct?
Correct. Even the property you own needs to be registered with your work visa, so people on business visas or tourist visas can't purchase a property. If you want a property as a rental unit to make income, you would be a lot better off buying a property in Canada.
@collyslifeadventureinchina Thanks mate if I don't stay on the prime tiers like Peking but is the suburb how much would rental property cost and is RV a better choice if I want to travel around the country?
@@computerjoy Rentals outside of tier 1 and new tier 1 cities are extremely cheap, in my opinion. I've heard of people renting rooms for 800 RMB a month and people renting whole places for 1500-2000 RMB. To travel around it would be best to stay at cheap hostels. Technically, you need to register where you stay with the local police station, and you can't stay just anywhere without breaking your visa terms.
China has very low interest rates ! Be cheap to finance !
Correct low interest rates, but the initial down payment can be a bit higher. once you have that, instead of wasting rent, the money goes back into your own property.
Airbnb in china?
No. The main reason is probably because people need to register where they are staying with the local police station. It might be something similar for the Chinese people, but not that I am aware of.
He looks like a cool guy and his wife seems lovely. He’s done well for himself.
Thanks. Still have a lot I want to accomplish.
how much is it in US$ and i believe you only have it for 70 year lease and then you have to renew it? How much would it be to renew the lease once it expires?
Just under 500K. The lease depends on the type of property and can be less or more years. This property would be a 70-year lease. At the end of the lease, you usually start paying a yearly property tax, but in some cases, they are renewed.
First tier city property prices are still expensive even when compared to places like where I live in Vancouver. Personally, if I lived in GZ, I would look to buy properties in adjacent cities like Foshan or Shunde, where it's much cheaper, and still somewhat close to GZ. Foreigners can only own 1 residential property in China and you must reside in it.
If you have a Chinese spouse, your name can be on more than one property. If my name was the only one on the property, then yes, I could only have one. You also need to have a work visa and other documents before you can even think of buying a property. I'd say Guangzhou prices are similar to Vancouver and Toronto prices if you compare the size of the apartment and how old it is. You are 100% correct about adjacent cities being way cheaper but at the same time you gotta live where work is. I have friends who purchased property in Foshan and Dongguan and have lost over 400k rmb in value over the past few years so its risky. If you are using property as an investment and not just the place you live you are better off buying in Canada.
I would like to see older properties!
When we start looking for new places, I will show them, but that will be a while from now.
That's crazy expensive
I mean, it is Guangzhou, and it is a brand-new property. It's not much different than getting a new place in Toronto. But yes, it's expensive.
that 82m really is the cream of the crop, but 700k CAD? and you have to furnish it? sheeesh insightful video though, thanks man
If we went one city over, it would be less than half that, but that's a nice area. Guangzhou prices for ya.
You will get a concrete box with nothing inside-no furniture, no floor, etc. That's how it is in China. I also live in Guangzhou, but personally, I rent rather than pay a mortgage for 30 years. A 50% down payment is 250k USD, which will bring you much more if you invest it (which I did). Those properties won't increase in price any time soon because of the economic situation in China right now.

so, in Guangzhou, we have Sams Club, which I use often but didn't have a membership when I first arrived. Check out my latest grocery shopping video, where I go through all the options I tend to check out. Shenzhen would be the closest Costco to me, but that's too far away for them to deliver at the moment.
Hi colly i have email you.but you not reply
Sorry, I don't check that business email often. With your resume, the only job you would be able to find in China is a high school or university subject/science teacher. I could only recommend contacting many international schools and sending them your resume.
