Here's something I've noticed. If you place your cannons at the flattest piece of land you can find, the enemy infantry will walk head first into them. Switch off fire at will, until the enemy is close enough. Then, switch to canister shot, and switch on fire at will. Also, make sure there's some infantry to support your artillery.
For all those that have a hard time winning, even against the AI, it's likely because you aren't experienced enough to manage your whole army at the same time. Train against a normal AI with an army small enough for you to be able to manage every unit and have a clear understanding of what's going on (it can be smaller than the "small" battle setting if you need so), also play on grassy flatland where you can't hide and give your opponent the same army as yours (so you know what to expect from it). In battle follow the instructions of the video to fight efficiently. When you can defeat the AI multiple time and with many troops remaining, increase the size of your army. Once you can beat the AI without ANY effort with at least the small army battle setting, you can try training in multiplayer with small armies. Always learn to manage more troops against the AI before going multi with a bigger army. Tips : Unlike in the video, stretch your line as much as possible to allow more soldier to fire at once.
You have to predict where the enemy will break and then react quickly when the opportunity arises. You also need to make sure that your attacking force doesn't run into a wall by micromanaging them. Using the map is also a good idea as you can quickly tell whether the enemy is trying to do something like flank you
I tried using my light infantry with light infantry behavior in front of my line infantry. The problem is, my light infantry keeps getting friendly fire from line infantry
This is all fine but totally ahistorical. The French did not use rifles, generally fought in column not line, and relied heavily on artillery. Your guide reflects my general frustration with the game, where proper Napoleonic tactics don't seem viable.

perfect explained. thank you
hello can you record this battle again but quickly taking over the ridge(1)? maybe advancing in columns(2), and using artillery(3).
I still lose every single battle I get into even if I have even number of troops. Even on easy.
I dont

It's harder to lose in easy than to win in very hard. NTW's AI sucks.
@@SabreVellerium Yes
Dont every charge your cavalry if your line infantry are firing stop your line infantry from firing otherwise your cavalry will receive friendly fire
I don’t even understand how to move groups without holding down a button and they move agonizingly slow
if you are playing against a competant player who would actually out flank you then it would no go so well for you
one word:basic
I mean, great video, just one thing, please put the subtitles on the top rather than the bottom where the most is going on and makes it harder to read

I use darthmod
@vinnceisaacarloabril7348 yea thats the issue with darthmod, it kinda glitches the light infantry
Try putting your line infantry off of "fire at will" because on this setting they will shoot at enemy units regardless of friendlies in the way
The king is supposed to go at the front of the battle💙💛💙

That endangers the general, as it puts him under enemy fire.
My army count is alway like 80 Man's. How can you add more like 120 180?
You may use a mod for that. :)
You can adjust the number of units in settings, alternatively try darthmod with regiments of 360-500 men
I'm failing miserably in win the waterloo battle 🤣
For some reason my units just never attack no matter what I order them to do
bugs
@@michaelalexify yeah it probably was I deleted the game and reinstalled it and now it works
