This is literally my go-to video for teaching people Napoleon Total War. You are literally the only one who did a run through of each nation's strengths and weaknesses in MULTIPLAYER. That is what is important. Everyone only does campaign guides.
You have no idea how much you've helped me dude, I just got napoleon total war so I was lost in what units were better or worse, and or how to find my playstyle, thank you so much
Thank you for the whole playlist for beginners! It is the best and most complete tutorial for Napoleon I know. I watched it twice and I recommend it to every noob I fight against. You just make me love this game in his depth. I would be glad if we coincide in some battle.
My main build (singleplayer) for Prussia is; 6 line infantry split in 2 groups of 3, 4 fusiliers/2 beside each line to counter calvary and support, 2 Jagers either side to cover fusiliers and also skirmish, 3 calvary (of any) to aid all/flank and take out artillery, 2 horse drawn cannons/1 for each line, 2 rockets to harass and cripple morale.
Playing the Darthmod as the Papal States to recreate Roman Empire; only major problem is I don’t have access to horse artillery; and all the specialty units are like 12 units of light infantry.
Good vid. This is well timed. I've just started a thread on twc discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the 'minor' nations. Hope you get a chance to look at it.
Ok just a little quick question. If i have a unit which has a accuracy of 50 would that mean if i have 240 men only 120 will actually hit a target or targets?????
That's kind of a (bad) joke, like calling Dragoons "dragons". It developed from having a couple dozen guys speaking a couple dozen languages all in the same clan, each mispronouncing words according to their accent/language.
I know this is a really late comment, but those of you who are watching this video right now, listen to him. He really knows what he is doing unlike other youtubers.
One thing for naval battles i was in a multiplayer match and a guy had a 106 gun Prussian ship how is that possible they don't have that in army set up how did he do that and can you tell me how to do it
Strange, most online builds don't have funds this high. Most builds have 1-2 artillery, 4-5 light inf (many use 125 units), 4 cav, and the rest inf (6-9ish). No fixed art, no unicorns etc.
If he related to navies, he would basically say "Britain's the best they have the best naval units don't bother with the rest of the countries just play as Britain"
that really is the truth. I have no idea what CA was thinking when they balanced navy. Britain's got the best ships AND they're cheaper. Unless you want to use that Santi Trinidad, I guess, or for some reason want to try out the portuguese 86-gunners.
What do you say about artillery? I used it a lot in ETW and destroyed everything but you didn't even mention it in your NTW video. Is it bad in that game?
This is a reply he made to a comment made by a guy that asked why no artillery and this was TWReplay's response. (It's somewhere in the comment section.) TWReplays 4 years ago Most 'serious' players viewed artillery as imbalanced. It encouraged camping, has unlimited ammunition and results in uninteresting game play where both players would just sit and shoot cannon at each other. The same was true of light infantry in a way. As a result, most 'serious' players adopted a rule set of "No artillery and a maximum of 5 light infantry". It was the most common way to play the game at higher levels.
@@ruskibeaner5983 Charge bonus is nothing, while other nations have better accuracy, reload speed, morale (every fucking stat) on every counterpart unit. So yea, Russia in this game is garbage.
@@Nikit4445 I don't think you know what you're talking about. Russian guards are op because they have the melee, charge bonus, and accuracy. Russia's cav is one of the best in game cuz of their good shooter cav and lancers. Charge bonus by itself is and insane stat. If russian muskets hit u with a charge and u don't square, ur screwed. That's also the reason why lancers are the cab unit to bring if the nation doesn't have shooter cav. All of this is why in top games u never see a russia vs prussia match up, because russia steamrolls prussia. Russia is a popular counter to france, which is also considered the best nation in game (the other counter to france is sweden cuz shooter cav).
The problem is that slight increase in range. Jaegers are more optimal for harassing units, with paper defense but excellent range. Due to this, jaegers demand attention; leave them alone for too long and enemy li/infantry get a shot in and deal damage. So though jaegers are good at range, they demand a ton of micro to ensure you are shooting the enemy but the enemy is not shooting youZ

Generally, most NTW battles are fought on flat ground maps; I have seen very few fought on terrain that have an extreme inherent advantage to one side. 6 units of anything is not spam. Spam is when the mass majority of you army is the same unit. So no these armies are not spam. You could argue that he could branch into all of the units. The problem is that some of these units are not cost effective, so they are not worth bringing to the field at all.

Could you do an updated guide with the newest units? ty
Can you please make an updated video with the new meta? (4 lights rather than 5, and max 3 swords)
@poort1710

you do realize what the Austrian Windbusche Jaegers can do right?
the grenzers are interesting in empire
They are called Jäger for English guys = Yager
Nice profile picture you got there Mr. Atkinson!
I've actually beaten France with the Dutch before...
@TWReplays But denmark does have the Riflmen along with a guard troop so they are better than most minor nations. Besides the aspect of cav.
Young guard makes the units (friendly) around them tougher to kill
doesn't the old guard do the same?
I don't even play this game and it's been 8 years. Yet here I am.
If you want to feel really old you could watch the 10 year update:

great work! thank you! could you please put your builds for at least the 3 main nations into the description for quick reference?
@PowerfulOz1
Historically yes, but in terms of this game they are decidedly not as strong as the other three.
Why do you have more units in custom what version is your ntw
Why don't you do a ntw3 nation description

Andrew Wang to be fair, Britain was the dominant navy in the period so hey, realistic but still.
it's one of the instances where I'd happily sacrifice realism for more interesting gameplay.
Ottoman heavy calv don’t have lancer stats. They have a heavy calv emblem in the game to back that up
@thehallowedelegy
This is probably true. Denmark has no real identity. With UN you can at least put together a cogent army.
