I've been trying to find good tutorial videos for Nap:TW for a while now, something clear and snappy. Finding those tutorials turned out to be way harder than it should've been. But boy, am I happy to have found you, lol. I think that I finally might be able to play on regular speed continuously if I follow your tutorials :). Thanks, mate!
@TWReplays thanks and thanks. Found the camera thing, thats really nice to have. I noticed i had some units mixed up that looked similar but weren't the right ones, so it works now. thanks a lot.
@UncannyRicardo There are pros and cons to each method. However, the "speed" question is pretty simple. In 3 ranks, only 40 men fire. In 1 rank, 100 men fire. even if it takes a second for the line to reposition after casualties, you still get much more firepower out with the entire unit shooting. I've heard arguments that 2 ranks is ideal, but I'd still rather have everyone shooting.
Correct me if im wrong but doesn't spreading out ur line infantry make them have a weaker firing rate when taking fire? This comes from a battle of mine where I saw that my units would NOT fire (well not as much) until they reformed their whole line to fill in the gap after each of their men is killed. Having them spread out I believe even makes that faster. However if you have them in 3 lines, the gap can easily be refilled.
Also doesnt having them spread out increases the time to get into square for a cavalry assault? Aswell as maybe even hurting them in melee, but im not sure.
i find this works better (your formation) as france with 3 old guard and for lights 1 chasseur and 4 volts....and 5 lancers, the old guard will destroy a prussian flank with 3 muskets and 2 lights (just got out of a game doing that)
@22Alec2222 To zoom out you need to change the camera settings. Try searching for "unrestricted camera napoleon total war" The build here is: 1 gen staff, 5 fussiliers, 4 musketeers, 3 foot guards, 1 milita, 6 lancers
@TWReplays I guess ill have to relook and see. The thing is, is that when I noticed that it seemed like a "domino effect". In that by the time my line got repositioned and ready to fire another men had died and thus they had to reposition again and again and again. Atleast I believe thats how it went. I'll definitely look into this.
