This video will show how I replace the battery in my Apple iPhone 7. If your battery is lasting less than 2 or 3 hours, or maybe it gets to 30 percent and just shuts off randomly, it might be time for a new battery. Sometimes disconnecting the battery will get rid of any software errors like it did with the 1-1-1990 glitch: • January 1, 1970 Bricke...
Remember all repairs are done at your own risk. The repair itself is not that difficult if you have worked with tools before. And you are careful removing that screen.

Much easier to do on the Galaxy Note 7. Just plug the charger in, rattle the phone, and the battery just explodes out of the phone. Reassembly is a little tricky, though.

WONDERFUL! I accidentally clicked on this instead of 7+, but your directions were so succinct but thorough! My favorite part was about you warning us that the white sticky strip might break and then I believe you said "you will have to do the pry of life" or something witty. The 7+ had three strips and two came off fine. The third didn't! I had to do the "pry of life" - so difficult, and it ended up bending the old battery. So then I was thinking "if I don't get this new one in correctly, I'm f***ed!". All went well. New battery installed. Battery capacity meter in settings went from 70% to 100% and all is well! Today, you are my hero!

Just coming back because I found this video incredibly helpful, but have a remark too.
Note that (other than said at 0:28) a suction cup is helpful, just make sure you REALLY heat up the respective area (bottom) with a hair dryer. when sufficiently warmed up, you can get under the display with a plastic opening chip without any hassle (no metal blade needed).
Other than that, just follow the video, it's been brilliant for me.

Your videos usually are amazing and "well made". I think this one gives me a feeling that you rushed it it's like you wanted to be done with it and not take your time and make a nice informative video like the others.
You cut the adhesive beneath the battery twice and in the end there was some left in the bottom. Also, you do not mention what we can do before we place the new battery, i mean does it come with its own adhesive in the bottom? Should you take off all of the adhesive left in the bottom from the previous battery?
Thanks for your videos mate they are truly brilliant.

One comment to make, my Iphone didn't have the ribbon you mention and I had to remove only one screw to install the battery. I had some trouble with the pull tabs. The first one broke just in the start and it was accesible, however, I managed to pull it offwhile removing the second one. I was surprised at how easy it was. 3 minutes to get the old battery out yes. Putting it back together took me a bit longer though no longer than 10 minutes. You should order the toolkit or at least have a magnetic screwdriver. The screws are tiny and you don’t want to lose them.

I saved the day by using 3 rigid plastic sticks as cantilevers to lift the battery from 1 side (since i was able to remove the adhesive strip on one side). I guess i was lucky combined with that battery is almost drained, it didn't catch a fire. I did it outdoor just to make sure it doesn't catch a fire anywhere near the house

IMPORTANT TIP / METHOD: if the adhesive tears it will take 1-2 hrs vs 15 minutes. fill a cap with alcohol and a couple q-tips. using the tweezers start to peel back the adhesive and after every / every other small movement back and keeping pressure pulling the tab, dab with a small drop of alcohol with q-tip. Videos say to pull back evenly but it should be more at 60-90 degrees because the metal behind the tab is what causes it to tare

Just done this on the *2016 iPhone 7 Plus.* Thanks for the guide. Those pull tabs tho' got me. The 7 Plus has *3* (three). I was able to pull the right and left without issues, but the middle one tore off -- taking me another 10 minutes to shimmy the battery out.
Once all is set and done, I've successfully swapped the 3 year old *2900 maH* battery with a *3300 maH replacement.*
The *Battery Health* settings went from a used *85%* back to *100%.*
And this *slightly bigger* capacity replacement doesn't seem like it's going to be drained as fast. Onwards, with the 7 Plus for another 3 years *(Year 2022).*
I've also purchased a *$9.99 Qi charging lightning pad* and put a matte black case on it. Now I have *wireless charging.* 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Just did one of these. Took 6-8 heating the phone and pulling on the display to get a gap. Once I got a spudger into the two bottom corners. I heated the sides of the phone and then was able to slide the spudgers up to the top releasing all the clips. Then gently try to separate the top of the display by wiggling and sliding it down carefully.
Best of luck not cracking it. Razor blade is helpful to get the bottom started like jerry did with the tool in the video.
Took about a half hour or longer to open the phone and not destroy the glass.

mateus pollonio No, it will not be water resistant anymore. Opening the phone will also void your warranty, no matter the circumstances.
To answer your question more adequately, opening the phone and then re-sealing it exposes it to all kinds of danger ranging from water leaks or dust infiltration because the then tightly sealed body will be slightly open and expose it to the elements. No water resistance, no warranty.
Hope this helped, have a good day, sir!

This is an extremely tricky procedure, not easy as video implies. Opening the case requires a Stanley blade, plastic kit tools OK when started. Had a screen protector fitted, substantially reducing cracking risk. Remove the taptic, 3 screws, keep separate, they are different, to give yourself the best chance of extracting the battery adhesive, its a nightmare when it snaps. Ensure you note the plastic hooks top end of phone otherwise they snap off, slide down front to open. Mine all snapped off but no detrimental effect. The metal cover has 4 screws the longer one is closest to phone edge. Screws are the tiniest Ive ever dealt with, it requires immense care/diligence not to lose any .I cleaned out the sealing gasket. Closed phone with battery fitted but home button didnt work even though not touched. It is powered by the battery, no mechanical spring. Broke top tape while attempting to diagnose home button problem, new camera reqd. Phone with repairer at present!
