Tearing down the iPhone 8 is oddly familiar... With the same basic construction as the iPhone 7, its a relief to not have to use a heat gun to repair components inside the iPhone. The screen of the new Apple iPhone 8 will come away from the device with a screw driver, a suction cup, and a thin metal pry tool.
The battery inside the Iphone 8 has a bit different construction. It is held in place by four different pull tabs. One on each corner. I like this because if you mess up on one pull tab, its not as big of a deal.

"as long as you kept them organized and haven't sneezed them off the table" i love how you describe everything in your tear down videos and its encouraged me to do what i love repair phones as a hobby. thanks for making these videos

03:46 "if you want to keep things functional, go slow"
This tip can be applied to a bunch of situations 😂
Wink wink
Wait what do you mean
life advice.
Except if you want to keep your phone functioning and protecting it from your parents when you are in the middle of an exam and only have 30 minutes left but you still have to do 50 percent of the questions for a 3 HOUR MATH TEST

After 2 years, this teardown is still relevent.
@Daniel Pereira His comment is about the iPhone SE 2020
Dinesh S P it’s probably for both, since i’m looking back at this to open my own iphone 8 to replace battery and camera
As your comment is also still relevant.
Its relevant because they can re sell the 4 year old parts for iphone SE again. Apple’s tactics are brilliant for making loads of easy money
@@salsaproductions6286 what battery did you use to replace?
Not an easy to repair phone!!! great work man!
...it actually IS simple as fu*k to fix basic things like bad connector, broken screen or not charging battery...
wut? its nearly all modular. most repairs would be easy
This and the One Plus 5 are the easiest phones that you can repair. Look at the S8 or Note 8 with glued back panels that are horribly difficult to remove.
What the fuck are you talking about? This is probably the most easy to repair phone out right now!
Raptor Swire , lmfao you actually typed fu*k instead of fuck. Come on bro. Really?
"So I found it easier to slip in just the tip of my tool"
Haha good one Zack 👍
Dave caught that and looked if anyone else did lol he made sure to say tool
I just did this on an iPhone 8 Plus and the repair went perfectly!
“And haven’t sneezed them off the table yet...”
OMG! I've never laughed that hard!! 😁😂 Your expertise and dry sense of humour is such a good complement to your videos. Keep up the great work man! 📱⌚️💻🖥🎉😝
3:13 How did you read my mind???
I know it's late but congrats on your 1 Millions subscribers. Hope your channel grow even bigger.
+Light Thank you!

Great job, Jerry have you ever played back a tear down video to remember the screws places??😂

Aakash Sharma but you are right tho, he's indian or Pakistani so that means that he's probably a Hindu so I'll give you that

I don't know why I hate you
What the hell happened here?
Well, I usually watch these videos out of curiosity of how everything’s built inside. Also, when my phones get old enough (since I wouldn’t have anything to lose), I will be referring to these videos as well. And man, this is really entertaining.
Pretty sure a headphone jack could fit there
"Innovation"
Jonah Pettrich its about pushing a wireless world, not that it was too tight internally. Stop being dumb guys.
+Medo Gabr It's actually about the fact that the headphone jack is the only thing on the IPhone that Apple doesn't own and as such doesn't make money on for 3rd party stuff.
Medo Gabr did you know that most of 20 dollars earphones are better than the wireless earpods that iPhone sells for 150 dollars. A question. Not having a cord is worth 130 dollars more?
Medo Gabr that's simply not true. It's not okay to remove an important and simple feature of a phone that high priced. There are still really much people out there that own an "old" headset. I don't, but still: the jack is useful if you gotta play music over non-bluetooth-speakers or such things, you can imagine (or don't you?). But it's always the same thing: apple-fanboys keep ignoring the truth.
“Or if your board and just want to watch the rest of this video.”
Me: HOW DID HE KNOW!! 🤭
I genuinely miss these screen and battery replacement videos from JRE. I feel like I haven't seen one in a while. Either way, I got a free iPhone 8 with a damaged display. This video helped me out with the repair. I appreciate you dude.
Here's a drinking game. Take a shot every time Zack says the phrase "like legos".
Hunter Zolomon Well I'm drunk.
Everyone would be sober because his name is not Jerry.....
Joe Tischer Whoops, I keep forgetting that, I've edited the mistake.
I was waiting for This Video Since This Phone was launched. Thanks for providing It.
+THE BEAST'S CHANNEL I got you fam
THE BEAST'S CHANNEL why the fuck did u capitalize every word
Medo Gabr Just For Fun LOL.
He made this look so easy, after an hour and a half I finally got it. And did the repair successful.
With only sneezing a few screws off the table.

5:02 “As long as you kept your screen organized and haven’t sneezed of your screws off the table”
Flashbacks to me fixing a customers screen and (didn’t sneeze) but sighed the screws out of place... from that day forward I have always used a face mask.
I love how you know I listen to your video to get to sleep,
I just watched this after your 6 battery replacement and I didn’t realize how far apart they were
That being said your way of making videos has grown over the years and I only know this have on two videos haha, which is cool
"and everything works, I'm kind of surprised myself" i laughed so hard at that, wow jerry your such a funny man, love you videos
Jerry - I'd love to see a video where you just show your process for keeping all those little pieces organized. How the heck do you not lose these tiny pieces??
I’m 4 years late, but for anyone wondering you can keep the bracket next to it and underneath put it’s screws parallel to the bracket so you know which one in which
Took me much longer than 7min but I couldn't have done it without ya! THANK YOU
The production workers who assembling Iphone are the best!
Well I must admit one thing.
Apple products are very well engineered.
how ?
No they aren't haha, profit is priority on apple not innovation or cutting edge technology. You must be a brainwashed apple fanboy to believe that apple still holds relevance on a world were people have options.
Hydro_Gaming laziness is the new apple logo, if you don't see the effects it will have on the current generation (defending the route apple is taking and the uses of theirs patents) then you are just naive. Of course I know the priority of profit, I just can't stand the way apple and the lack of something new or innovation brainwashes people into believing they are getting the latest and greatest.
Michael creech no, it just can't stand the way an status simbol made it way into the real of "normal" and "utilitarian". Apple products are the gold and silver of yesterday, yet people defend apple as a technology company, frankly we can't be passive anymore, we should put people like you in the gulags. Cheers.
Michael creech gulags>camps
Does anybody feel like JerryRigEverything's videos are kind of like ASMR.
wow EXCELLENT quality, narration, straight to the point, good comic relief. Just very RARE nowadays with RUclips videos. Thank you!
Jerry, I love your videos, and I’ve noticed that you slip your ‘thin metal’ pry tool, everywhere.
you FAILED? You've gone so far in this and you fail NOW? HOW DARE YOU!
thats what my mom told me
Excellent teardown as always. I haven't taken apart a 7 for a battery change before but the 6 is pretty simple, this does seem a bit more complex but not much more so.
@2:22 No heat or violence required for battery until the strip rips off and then the fun begins.
it's amazing how replacing something like a battery
is such an involved process on an iPhone
New drinking game:
Anytime he says, “Fragile”, take a drink.
Jerry I have a video idea for you. A lot of people say that one of the shortcomings of the lg v30 is it's front-facing camera. I watched your teardown video and saw that the front camera module is the same shape of other front cameras on other phones like the galaxy s8 or lg g4. Would it be possible to theoretically buy a gs8 front camera module and place it in the lg v30. Could you possibly test this out and see how the phone would react to different hardware?
jameljami11 great idea
+jameljami11 the software wouldn't match the hardware. Plus the physical connections are different
Would it be the same story with using an lg g4 front camera and what about using a camera app from the app store. Would it care if a different front camera was plugged in.
The problem with this is that the phone is not made to have different parts like a PC, so if you somehow can swap a camera or whatever with a different phone it will most likely not work because of the drivers/controllers.
That's why i'd like someone with the resources to do so to test it out. Because there is that uncertainty. It may not work with the gs8 front camera but now im wondering if the LG G4 front camera would work instead. I'm just curious.
Quite a few of your videos have helped me during the past few years. Using this one now to fix a neighbors phone. You’re the best!!
How could someone fall asleep? Your voice always keeps us focused on the bus!😊
"Slip in just the tip of my tool"
"So if you want to keep things functional, go slow and be careful"
Meh at least you tried to do clear back... Plus i terdown my asus memo pad 7 (old version2013) and now at least charge and work...
You teared down your asus? Sounds painful.
Everything apples pro did it
I never take time to comment tutorial videos, but this one is properly the one I should. Thank you for your time, your explanations and the video. Thanks to it I was able to replace the tricky iphone 8 lcd screen. Thank you again, amazing work.
Man, you do it like a professional!
God damn, you are like the Mozart of repairing!
"...or bored and just want to watch the rest of this video..." how'd you know?😂
Your repair videos are very helpful to me. thank you very much.
U are the best phones fixer ever and also , ur voice is relaxing ..
Great video!
TSP congrats you are first

-Zack 2017
Knowledge AND comedy in the same video? You sure know how to spoil your audience :D
This tutorial is just excellent. I did it thanks to you help. One thing I was unaware of at disassembly is that the screws on the same bracket can have different lengths, so they must go in the exact same hole position they came out of. I managed somehow ;) also in my case the replacement battery came with magic strips of the exact shape, but I recognized too late that there is a good and a bad direction to put them. If it starts rattling tomorrow I’ll know why :) Thank you very much for your effort, I appreciate!
Agent 47 back again with iphone 8!!!:-D
Good work agent 47 your paycheck will be in your mailbox
Can't wait to see a clear back version of this phone!
Best iPhone repair instruction video I've seen!
Looks like the lightning cable connector can be easily removed if damaged
Not so sure. The dock looks like it connects on the left of the motherboard, like the iPhone 7. And if it's anything like the iPhone 7, you would need to remove the motherboard before you could get to the dock.
Thanks for the vids
I find quality replacement batteries for iPhones to be hit and miss.
Any recommendations for quality batteries??
Thank you so much! This was my second succesful iPhone 8/8plus repair while watching your guide.
0:52 "So I found it easier to slip in just the tip of my tool and slice through that adhesive." Giggity!
I clicked on this video slower than Apple's A7 chip. =/
More like A5 in 4s
Hehe A9 here.
Shellyman Vol.2 Here Snapdragon 835 and i7 4770k
A10 Fusion Chip here!! 😁
Daniel Trejo same
Hmm there is still space for 3.5 mm jack inside the phone... I CAN SEE THAAT 😒
Taptic Engine for Taptic feed back.
Wouldn’t be water proof
Iphone looks really premium outside and inside than any other flagship out there
Had to stop and rewind about a hundred times but I got it done! Only took two days, haha
I hate apple, a lot. And videos like these about tearing them down just makes my day.
And apple also hates you😅
DISAPPOINTED!!! The most important question is uncovered... IS THERE ENOUGH SPACE FOR A HEADPHONE JACK?!
Strigoy yes it is . internals are very very similar to an iphone 7 and you could fit an headphone jack
just look at it, it's full of pieces of plastic! my god what a whaste of space.... with that super huge and unoptimized 1800mha battery...
Strigoy there is
Yes there is, apple is trying to push a wireless future
They give you an adapter. Whats the fuss bruh
MasterM 1214 English but yes there is, no the plastic has a use but isn’t a waste, they just don’t want people to fit headphone jacks
Amazing video! It is not an easy job to do this! Salute.
2nd time replacing my iphone 8 phone screen and this video was still useful to me a year later, thank you Jerry!
Why do I feel like we are about to get new video on *How to make Clear Glass IPhone 8"
You clearly didnt pay attention to the video
DROP TEST PLS :-)
Ahhh Yes. Back when JerryRigEverything was not a breathing sponsor
Funny thing I noticed: The device readout for on the calendar app says “Thursday September 21 2017” but the upload date says “Friday September 22 2017,” but, great video! I ❤️ it!
Could Zack give it a headphone jack?
If you had teardown a iphone 7, i bet no one will notice lol
557badboy the glossy one!
Yeah, well, I learned through the school of hard knocks today. I couldn't get the tapes off one end, so I made a cut with a box cutter through the tapes. I saw white, then the battery glowed progressively red, then lit up like a sparkler! The phone is toast!
After dropping my phone several times. And paying $100 plus dollars. I learned how to change the screen of my phone.. i have changed the screen about 4 times.. but i buy the full assembly screen.. that way i don’t have to change the camera and ear piece.. and its a whole lot easier.. learned a lot watching JerryRigEverything.. thanks for the videos!!!
So much wasted space for battery... Make it even smaller next time Apple
Pawel Wroniecki all they care about is battery power. Nothing else.
Pawel Wroniecki I remember they reduced the capacity when they went from iphone 6 to 6S and they did the same from 7 to 8. Let me google it real quick
For anyone that cares, these are the numbers for the battery capacities. Smaller phones only, not the plus
iPhone 6 1810mah
iPhone 6S 1715mah
iPhone 7 1960mah
iPhone 8 1821mah
(I know the mah isnt the only factor that affects how long the battery lasts, just comparing numbers)
i have a 3100mah in my honor 7. 3000mah+ is todays standard tech in a phone. if it doesnt have atleast 3000mah then it wont last charged long enough when devices need more power usage these days, for instance 1080p screen doesnt use as much power as a 1440p screen on galaxy.
The iPhone 8 has a 750p screen.
Zack I know this sounds boring but could you durability test Huawei P10? :-)
interested in it too, not sure why he has not done it yet?
ProGamer193 I agree. He did the teardown for the P9 and I expected he would do a teardown for the P10.
ProGamer193 he needs to duralibity (idk how to write this) the first galaxy s?
The iphone parts one by one u dismantled do, very impressed me
I love how u narrate the procedure

Thanks man! Been a while since I've fixed an iPhone and I'm fixing one for my friend. Great refresher!
still looks the same with other iPhone's
John Castillo why change it when it's fine
2:10 my ears got raped
how? his voice was louder than the sound of the adhesive.
Though I have nothing to do with the new iPhone 8 but man I dig your commentary!
I will never have use for this video but I always watch them. Once again, UR VOICE IS MY FAVORITE VOICE.
Omg ip67.... samsung note 8 has 2 big holes in there phones and still better water resistant.... sorry for my english 😂
You made my day 😂
One of the best comment bro 😂😂😂

Doesnt mean the iPhone ist as water resistant as the Note 8.
EveryThingApple Pro testet the iPhone 7 & 8, they did survive more water that the S8 & S7

Technical Anmol What the fuck?
I like how you cut the most important steps out, some one with no knowledge wont know that youre using heat to loosen that adhesive. They will surely fail from watching this video! But I guess most people arent going to be watching this as a step by step anyways
“Sneezed your screws off the table,” BRO. That’s something I would do 😂😂💀
Its nice that iphone like to a keep a consistent design and only develop flagship phones, BUT seriously its same design every fking year, can't they atleast release new colours, some metalic with pearlesent or something, its getting boring now.
Who else is here and doesn’t want to tell there parent?
Me

Me I’m taking it apart because of a cracked screen without my parents permission
Used this this morning and replaced my screen. It is working great! Thanks!!
Re returning the many size screws into the phone in the original location.
Before opening the phone I search online for some images of the phone circuit boards, then print them. (bigger the better)
I then use a pen to mark the location of each screw on the image. Next I place a strip of double sided tape on the print out sheet for each screw, or series of screws. Now as I remove a screw I place it on the image next to its location. If I find I have a few screws from the same area, so space is tight I draw a line from the screw on the double sided tape to its correct location.
Double sided tape is good as it holds them in place yet is easy to pick up each screw by using tweezers.
