@@johnojelabi1405 Dont forget to also buy the Waterproof seal that you removed when opening the screen. And also, disconnect the battery first! Before anything else, you can risk shorting any small components in the mobo. And also, if you were a fan of the True Tone functionality, you won't be able to use it unless you reprogram the screen with a reprogrammer. The one I have is the JC V1

I recommend using a heat pistol for the top so the camera goes out easily and also for the home button cuz if you pull it to hard it may be damage cuz of the glue but with heat the glue gets soft making it easier to take it out

Had to install a new screen because I cracked it whilst putting in a new battery. The kit i used didn't come with a metal prying tool or anyway to heat the glue around the screen! Anyway, managed to follow this excellent tutorial and my phone is back to 100% again. Be warned that some of the steps can be quite tricky and re-inserting the plugs can also be tricky!

Well done for mentioning the screws need to return to the same spot, as the longer screw will go too far into the shorter holes and damage the circuit board immediately below. This is important! Its best to use a magnetized mat with the screw positions labeled on it.

This is my 4th time fixing my screen. All of my three attempts have been successful but home button did not work. This time also I dropped my phone on concrete sidewalk while running and had to replace screen made from China which is gambling. The part to fit sound and camera do not have the ports but I gave it a try. Just right now, home button is working miraclly in which I thought I damaged it when I tried on 2nd time. And sound and video are working good despite the screen did not have the port to hold like past three screens I had or on your video. So overall, I'm very happy. Only thing that I will look for are battery life and charging time. One screen had short battery life and one screen had my charging time very long time after replacing it. So let's see if this one takes care of it.
My learned lesson: make sure buy the screen from legit. maker b/c the one that I bought had home button not working, short battery life, or issue w/ charging. So far, I got home button working out of three issues of the past. Thanks for your video. I give myself 9.5/10 on mechanical repair skill.

If it doesn’t work try a different screw driver. You stripped the screw and may need to use a special tool to remove it if you can’t get it out

Two key points: MUST have a Y-tip 000 screwdriver. Never saw this before with other phones but never did a 7 or 8 before. Also - be extremely careful peeling back the home button cable on the far right side. On a black phone it is very difficult to see where the difference between the cable and the bottom of the phone. Best to wear glasses of do under a magnifier. I was so careful but still damaged this cable. Hope that helps someone.

I wish It was this easy I just paid a cell phone repair shop 110$ for a screen replacement, well worth it and it looks great and feels premium again but I felt like I got over charged. I bought an otter box for it for great drop protection

It’s better to give the edges of the screen a little heat to open it up
