    I am an introvert and hate small talk. Been a BU HR frm last 9 years. Some judgemental managers disliked me for the same even though my work always gave very positive tangible results. There has never been an issue with my behavior but some of my reporting managers wanted me to be overly friendly with people. Such disgusting immaturity!!!

    From my 4 months of HR experience and as an introvert...I would say that if you can learn some social skills along with day to day work, you can be a good HR...
    As you said, extreme extroverts have a tendency to seek friendship with everyone so they might leak information...💯

      No one enjoys removing someone from their source of income. At the same time, it’s not personal. Usually it’s because the employee made bad choices to get themselves fired, or it was a business decision outside of our control.

Is this due to my career break? Pls advise.

    • @thehrdestination
      @thehrdestination  Год назад +2

      No dear, that lack of calls is very common for anyone looks for HR job, specially as you get more experienced, there are lesser and lesser opportunities, and I am sure you know why...
      1. There can be only 1 HR manager in a company while HR exe can be many
      2. 1 HR position can be easily filled through ref
      3. Supply is way more than demand.
      But do not be discouraged, it might take time but you will get there, I am saying this from my own exp, as I took gap 2 times in my career and second time it was harder as I was looking for senior profiles.
      Tip- Spend more time on LinkedIn, I found my most calls from LinkedIn jobs

      @@thehrdestination I would disagree here. Online education is valued by many employers equally. On the other hand, it provides an added advantage as the learner would have applied extra skills to work on it. Nobody presents it on a silver platter and many work hard on studies whilst holding a full time job. that's something of high value. I know of 2 high level employees in a multinationals that have studied their MBA on distance learning. However, it's from a top school. Maybe that makes a difference.

    • @newtonmoon
      @newtonmoon Год назад

      I'd say an MBA is not everything. You need some experience working in HR. You can ask in your current company to take on some HR related duties and then later apply for an Assistant job in HR. That' way you can break into it. I also recommend taking HR courses and certifications more than a MBA. MBA in HR is useful for HR leaders perhaps but irrelevant if you want to break into HR without experience. A degree is not everything. There is so much more of professional and personal skills that are essential of making it in a job.

    • @newtonmoon

      @@djfrans7153 I know of HR leaders who have no degree. They were just lucky, in the right place at the right time. Nowadays often an undergraduate degree is good enough. If you want to differentiate and possibly increase your earning potential, a post graduate degree could work well.

      Hmm.. its not mandatory but... understand from this perspective, when companies are hiring freshers for HR role, they have lakhs of MBA students who are applying and are in queue to be shortlisted, then why the company will choose a BBA..
      Most of them put a filter of post graduation (MBA/PGDM) while searching the resume, your resume will not be even visible to the recruiter to check your skillset..
      If you really do not want to do MBA, then prove yourself with your HR skills on a social platform and get attention of the companies towards you.. that might help!
