I lost my dad when I was 16 and was still able to eat, went to volunteer shifts (it was summer time so I didn’t have school), and continued with all my usual scheduled tasks. Grief is so different for everyone, but I remember feeling guilty about seeking comfort in routine and “normalcy”.

My mother-in-law died at 80 in her sleep. We actually thought it was a blessing rather than having her slip into dementia or have a terrible cancer journey. Still... it was shocking for everyone because we did not have time to prepare our feelings like you would with a seriously ill family member. Sudden death in the elderly is odd for sure. know that you were loved and that you loved. It's the best gift.

Ryan, please accept my sincerest condolences for the loss of your grandmother. I wasn't searching for this video- youtube recommended it to me randomly. I can honestly say, this is the greatest Christmas gift I will receive this year. THANK YOU for taking the time to upload this and share your experience.
As someone who has also gone through grief due to the loss of close relatives previously, this is so relatable. One relative in particular passed away unexpectedly a few years ago right before Christmas. This Christmas, I am now coping with a very close relative in the hospital, which has been difficult.
You are bang on with regards to how the experience of processing grief is very different from person to person. The experience can also vary greatly based on how close of a relationship you shared with the person who passed away.
Quite often when the relationship consists of excellent communication between both people, the experiences of getting accustomed to resuming basic everyday activities, such as getting coffee, do feel "weird" at first, yet relatively guilt free. Knowing your loved one would want you to continue enjoying these experiences demonstrates this excellent communication you shared with them.
It is also normal to cry, or feel depressed, or take time and space to process things. What you touched on with regards to families reuniting, despite having had previous conflicts, is very relatable as well. As difficult as it can be initially, it can be a good thing.
Your grandmother sounds like an absolutely wonderful, strong, caring, beautiful, and kind person. Despite how you said you are not necessarily "religious", I am happy to hear you have an open mind to possibilities- such as going to heaven, being with the Lord, and reuniting with those who have already passed. You grandmother strikes me as though she knew the Lord, and lived a happy and blessed life.
We have all been blessed to hear your story today, and I truly thank you for your strength and compassion to honor your grandmother and share this wonderful story with the world. I'm certain there are many other people who needed to hear it as well.
I wish you comfort, healing, and peace this holiday season, and a Merry Christmas!
    Fawn ❤

In the last 10 years I've lost my parents, three good friends one of who was my closest friend for nearly 40 years so I know what you're feeling all too well. The one thing that you said that they will always be with you is so very true. Every time I have a joke about something totally absurd and inappropriate, I think of my best friend and how much he would've love it and would build on that joke and make it even more inappropriate. That man could make me laugh like nobody else. Such an awesome sense of humor. Those times happen and it's like he's standing right beside me once again. And my parents are always there in voice and spirit. A couple of weeks back I was talking to someone at Edward Jones about my finances and I know nothing about that stuff....but suddenly I felt that Dad was in the room with me guiding me to ask the right questions and say the right things. He was literally there. I got to my car and just burst out crying and thanking Dad for being there. So, it's true, Ryan your Grandma will always be there when you need her the most...you can count on that. Take care, young man and thanks for your videos.

I would like to begin by expressing my sincere condolences to you and your family. I understand how difficult it can be to lose a loved one, and I am deeply sorry for your loss. Seeing your vlog. your, I can relate to the many emotions you described in response to your grandmother's passing. In my own personal experience, I have lost several family members, and the weight of each loss has impacted me in different ways. While I am able to maintain emotional control with some relatives, others have left me feeling overwhelmed and struggling to cope. I appreciate your candidness about your own experience, as it closely mirrors my own journey through losing my beloved Nana.

Sorry for your loss and the grief you're experiencing. Three of my grandparents that were living when I was a child, they lived in separate States, so weren't in my life, and their passing didn't impact me anymore than that of strangers. I've had tremendous grief in adulthood; my brother was murdered, my mother lost the will to live and died two years later, and my father lived12 years thereafter. I've also lost two close long term friends whom I'd thought would be in my life for the entirety, and lost dearly loved pets. Sadly, if you live long enough, you'll experience a lot of loss. Hugs and warm wishes to you Ryan

When you mentioned imagining the day she passes and getting emotional i felt that. But its like you said once you lose someone you just become distraught and you go through the everydayness of it all. I lost my other grandmother who i was pretty close to and idk if it was cause i hadnt seen her in person for years it just felt so unreal and even now its like wow like I can never call her again and thats how it feels real.

The best way to honor our loved ones who have passed is to carry on the way they would want us to. When my mom died, I felt like I wanted to die too, but that would have been disrespectful to her memory.... that's NOT the way she raised me. I'm so very sorry for your loss, Ryan... May she rest in peace.

So sorry Ryan. Your grandmother sounds so much like my grandmother. Mine didn’t raise me but I was very close to her and she told me so much and so I felt so close to her. When she passed away she was in her 90’s so it was expected for her to die when she did. But it still was so hard to believe she was gone. But I had to move on and take care of my kids and live my life new life. It’s hard but so good for you to talk about it to work it through. So good you have so many great memories.

Ryan...our Grandparents are from a different generation...many spouses did not live longer after the other passed away. I remember as a teenager, my fathers dad passed away, then about two months later my moms dad passed away...then my dads mom passed away followed by my moms mother passing way..all in a span of 4 months...Husbands and wives from that point in history where dedicated to each other, they held to values of loving each other unconditionally "till death do you part". They laterally did not want to live without there husband or wife..I think this philosophy is lost in this new time.....Your grandmother was a great person, so keep all those special thoughts in your head and memories!

She has my with my family a year or two due to my parents job require them to have business trip every 3-4 days per week so I live with her and have her take care of me, she is the sweetest person I’ve ever met and she loves her grandchildren so much
But ever since I am 18 the Covid-19 was coming and the quarantine has prevented me from visiting her
Even after that, I was drowned in the society and working adulthood and didn’t have much chance to take a 3-4 days off to come back to my mom’s hometown
