- My living situation is definitely hard to keep up with to say the least. I recently left japan (for the time being) very abruptly and had to summon a plan for the next few months. There's a reality to living alone in japan that I want to speak on. I wasn't able to talk about one of the main reasons I left.

I feel like this is so relatable. I love listening to you talk because these are the same conversations I have with myself, especially not knowing what path is going to lead to success or happiness. It's nice to know that we're not alone and its probably just a natural thing, especially being in our 20s

I think its really unprofessional of your professor to show your video to the class without seeking your permission first. I think its quite questionable to do that to a student without seeking clarity if you would be comfortable with that. I'm also wondering if your videos had any relevance to the subject at all. It would be a courtesy to ask you first before showing it to your peers or having you find out on your own. I would question the level of concern the professor had and their professionalism and would even bring this up to the school. But that's just me. The fact that you told her you didn't like it, and SHE STILL DID IT is a total red flag and very unethical of her.
I think everyone is admiring you. especially for anxiety-prone people (totally understand because I'm that way lol), any attention seems like an invasion of privacy. but it's an invitation to make new friends and have an outlet to discuss common interests since you already created an online community. your channel is thriving and most people have no ill intent and are inspired by you. you're doing great and good luck in finishing your degree!

tysm for this episode! i studied japanese for 4 years in high school and was considering attending temple u's campus in Tokyo but decided against and now I think I will just solo travel after I graduate college next year.
i love how "all over the place" this was. It shows a raw and unedited or filtered version of you and your thoughts. And tbh this is exactly how i talk and think so i don't see being all over a bad thing. I feel like we're friends when I watch your channel lmao. I also have a hard time actually connecting with people, I can make friends easily but like you said, I'm picky with who i choose to be around. I hate the feeling of being perceived by people, so I can imagine the feeling of walking in a room and all eyes being on you. I hope when you go back in the fall semester things are better, and maybe people become more self aware.
You probably don't remember me WHICH IS 100% alright!! but one time I was in a reserved room with a mutual that you had revered way earlier ahead and I wasn't aware of this and you were so kind enough to let us use it afterward. I am so extremely sorry about that! But I wanted to come here and say that your feelings about this are so valid. I actually relate to it and had the same feelings as you ever since I got into the school. I've noticed a lot of shallow people and how everyone just knew each other which made it so overwhelming. I actually dislike the majority of the school for so many messed up things that I've seen other people do to each other including myself. I'm also trying to try to enjoy my uni experience too but its hard knowing that there are people that have hurt me and having to pass them in this small ass buildinG. I am so happy to hear that I am not the only one feeling like this.

Your professors exposing you is totally inappropriate, and I would consider it something to be fired over. Students outing you for being on social media sucks, but should have been expected. I'm sure it was so much worse for actor James Franco, when he decided to go to college at Columbia University. I've only seen a fraction of your social media, but from what I've seen, there isn't anything that would be embarrassing for your classmates to know about. I do understand wanting to be under the radar in public/school.

you deciding to take a leave for school for your mental health is so me, you’re actually so relatable. i changed my major from nursing to biology because i knew it was going to be so stressful and there is so much more happiness in biology for me. thank you for sharing your thoughts and what’s going on with you ryan, virtually you’re like a person we can all look up to and be like oh he’s a real human being being so true to himself online idk it’s such a nice thing to be able to watch and i’m pretty sure most of us are very appreciative for your existence and decision to share your journey with us

nah you still have my dream life. i cant leave my town, let alone my house. im dirt poor because im severely disabled, mentally ill and whatnnot. im on EBT im so broke. i cant get a job and the gov wont give me the disability i need. i WISH i could travel out of country, but i have no money and airlines are well known for breaking wheelchairs. you truly are quite lucky. i dont reallt have friends irl, mostly online so it wouldnr bother me any. for some people your life truly seems like heaven. i will never get to travel outside of the US like i desperately want and im in a small town in a flyover state where theres nothing.

i begrudgingly joined a friend group in college bc there was no other way to have friends, i mostly only talked to a girl who moved to america from korea in highschool and we became very good friends- my only takeaway from college really. i felt like everyone was really immature too for some reason. im not international but its interesting to hear someone else say college felt like highschool bc i think that too.. anyways you can finish! it will be annoying but it will be ok

I went through the same thing and also took a break too. What you're talking about tbh is a veeeery common international student experience unless you're like extremely extroverted and not give a fuck about changing your environment. I mainly focused on my life outside of university (bc going to class stressed me out so much) and focused on the few friends I had. I had a lot of lows but also a lot of highs i will never forget. Now that I'm graduating ill miss it sooo much. Don't take it for granted!

You don’t owe them anything Ryan. Just don’t worry about what they have to say, just roll with the punches. Focus only on your education the school politics is temporary and a remnant of high school drama/social status, don’t let a first or second year bug you bruv.
As a foreigner whose lived in Japan for 20 years, I can confidently say the xenophobia here against foreigners is off the chart! You foreigners love Japan….. but the Japanese don’t love you!

You should def look at how performers handle recognition and para-social relationships. On a smaller scale, I'm recognized in my area a lot from people I don't know. Don't be freaked out by it, you're a performer. It might feel scary or weird, but that's what you signed up for? They don't have bad intentions

It's so funny because even though I don't have any kind of followings sometimes I don't like when people I know in person pop up in my online life. Like, even on Facebook if I comment on some random page about my asshole view on something, someone from my friends list will chime in and I'm like "we don't personally talk about this, go away." It's the internet, you feel like there should be a level of anonymity, even if you are the one putting the info out there.

I understand u so well with moments like "all eyes on you", "u'r popular now" and the thing about dressing up everyday...I had pretty same story at school! I literally have 300 (not even thousands, just hundreds) subscribers on my IG, but everyone in my class was talking about me behind my back and get SOO mad at me sometimes. some teachers were also saying bad things to me such as "u don't have time to do your homework, but u uploade your videos everyday..." and shit like that while my blog was the most important part of my life!!! I didn't became popular, cause I needed to pay attention to my studies all the time and get high grades, tho :•<

A Mac that only is good for 6 years, that is not good. Heck, I always keep a PC for 10 years and that is possible today because the technology has surpassed the software. My last PC lasted 10 years and was still very fast and was still working well, I just thought 10 years was good for a upgrade. I put the old one as a standby.
honestly if youre not working in stem as long as youre able to get into your first job and show you got real skill,s the degree doenst really matter cuz youre not a doctor or engineer anyways

I have similar problem right now, going to school feels so hard and im stuck in a country because of school. We have a law here that we cant drop out of school until we reach a specific age. I still have almost two years of school. I'm also lonely
I'm a new subbie from just a few uploads ago but have really been enjoying your content on YT. But oh my goodness. I could feel my anxiety just climb as you described what happened. You had certain boundaries that people just disregarded because you put yourself on social media. It's not fair to you and it's unfair of them to impose this on your whether they're aware of it or not. It's hard though. You couldn't be vulnerable on your own terms. I hope that during this hiatus you're able to find more peace and good energy from that mess. ❤❤❤
