Last 2 days she's going more in her crate😢 i guess i have to let her out sooner. She really doesn't complain. No barking in crate. My issue is that I'm getting a 8 week puppy that's been vaccinated once. Most vets advise that pups should only go out when they had a second vax unless you have a garden that's safe but live in a flat no garden, I have a front grassy communal area however I don't feel it be safe for a puppy as other people's dogs use this area too so it could be a risk of catching diseases.

I sure wish I would have watched this before or right when we got our puppy. Our 15 week old puppy still goes out 1-2 times at night. She poops right before bed. ( usually around 10) but poops again in the middle of the night, every night. She also barks a lot in her crate, and I’m afraid she’s associating barking with being let out, but also don’t want her to have an accident.

My puppy is so different! He uses training pads inside really well but has never gone to potty outside and doesn’t understand that he can do it outside. We live in an apartment so slowly moving the pad to the door is not an option for us. He also holds his bladder really well, so we have no idea how to explain to him that it’s okay to do it outside. 😢

I'm getting a new puppy in a few months and your videos are so helpful, thank you for sharing!! Do you have a recommendation for potty training in an apartment in a city? I know consistency, timing and limited distractions are important so I'm trying to figure out which option would be best for training: out in the patches of grass next to the busy sidewalks or a porch potty on our small balcony. Once they're older/trained, we'd like to take them outside in the grass or on our apartment's rooftop dog run. Any insight would be much appreciated, thank you again!

Sounds like my same issue, also just got a 10 week old puppy from an outdoor only living situation, and I'm afraid to pull the crate in the house bc he is already showing obvious signs of seperation anxiety and I suspect that might be the same issue with your pup, they have tons of calming treats, bones, peanutbutter ect out there for pups with melatonin and L-Theanine, you could also try some cbd products and if you still have issues some vets can even prescribe anxiety medication for your pups, my last pup had such bad anxiety she would obsessively groom to a point of mass hairloss and meds have her obsessing less and a much fuller coat

Does he ever get quiet for even a second? IF so, HEAP on the praise in those seconds. I had a similar issue and this worked but you need to get the timing right. Eventually, when my dog would spend a minute of quiet in there, i'd let her out and give her a treat and lots of praise and she realized this is a good thing... good luck!

My problem is during daytime ☹️. He doesn t wanna go out, so it s always picking him up and going outside. And idk how to make our garden more fun and desirable. Even with all doors open, he d rather stay in, unless me and my husband are both outside and call him. Any suggestions?
(also crate training....he sleeps inside it, he's fine with it, until the door is closed, he goes full on crazy once that happens no matter how many treats we have tried. he d be chill if me our my husband are on the floor next to it)

Found a dog along the road. It’s about 5-6 months old and has had no training. INTENSE separation anxiety and absolutely goes wild in a crate. At this time, I’m just taking him to the back yard, getting him to exercise a bit and then just quietly wait. Most often it works and, when it does, I give him praises and pats. Still, that’s not the same as him knowing he shouldn’t go in the house, so I’m still cleaning up inside as well. I’m just wondering how to cement that inside is just not ok.

We just got a new puppy yesterday and we're trying to be proactive, I create him & take him out as soon as its time to leave the crate. Even though he clearly had to go, he gets outside & only wants to eat leaves or deer poop. I tried finding a spot with no leaves or animal droppings & keeping the leash short but then he just gets really agitated like spinning and throwing his weight around & still won't go. He'll often even lay down & do nothing. If it's time to back in the crate he doesn't have accidents inside but when it's time to play or just sit with us he'll go on the rug pretty fast. No matter what I do he just refuses to go outside most of the time. Any thoughts?

Pooping is our problem. He is on a feeding schedule. We go out on a leash before and after feeding as well as before and after crate or play time. We also go out whenever he start sniffing and/or turns in circles.
Yet the minute I am distracted, he runs out to the front parlor and poops. I am using the enzyme cleaner to eliminate his scent.

You can put a pad in the yard and just get her going outside, so she knows it's okay to pee and poop out there. I'd do this and walk her around /play until she goes outside. Praise her for going outside and try to take her out at her regular times when she needs to go. She should figure out that you want her to do her business in the yard.

We use pee pads btw. When we went to our parents to stay for the holidays last month, he had spots where he pees and sometimes he peed outside the garden since my parents' has an outdoor garden. After staying there for almost a month, when we came back home, he pees everywhere. Marking everything 😭 He still poos on the pad but the peeing is the problem. He is 7 months now. How to retrain him? 😭

My dog is about 15 months old. He only had 1 accident in the house from the time I brought him home at 8 weeks. However, he never, ever asks to go out. He's like a camel. He can be in his crate overnight and not gone potty for like 15 hours and I let him outside and he just runs around the yard and sniffs everything. I have started having him go before I give him his breakfast and he has kind of tired Oh, I get to eat if I go to the bathroom right away. Sometimes, at night, he just won't go no matter how long I stand outside, but he never whines or wakes up at night. Normally, it isn't a problem, but if I'm going away for half the day or something, it would be nice to know he's gone before I leave. How can I fix this?

We live in an upstairs apartment and he will freeze and just sit and won’t move or run back towards our apartment. He will come back inside and immediately poop or pee on the floor. I have been making being outside positive and happy, but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

In ur oppinion is there an average time puppys learn this or is it down to the breed and intelligence of dog eg. My boxer learned in a week when my labradore took a month

This is an important question, David! Time-bound goals aren't always appropriate for things like puppy training. What's really important is understanding your puppy's level of understanding and your CONSISTENCY! Specifically speaking to house training, a puppy can learn VERY quickly that going poop/pee indoors is much easier than holding it. So being a great leader for your dog, by being proactive is ultimately the fastest way to train them. Students who don't allow their puppies to be wrong by supervising closely 100% of the time (during the training period) will always see success faster! Happy Training! ~Ken

Looking for a little guidance…I have had my lab mix puppy for a month now. She is currently 12 weeks old. She is typically very good with potty training as long as we are home, but she continually pees in her crate when we leave, whether it is one hour or 4 hours, even though I take her out to go right before we leave. Any help on how to get her to stop peeing in the crate? It is only during the day when we are gone for work etc, usually at night she stays dry, although I am up with her once or twice a night yet. I wash all the bedding (just a towel) and I wash the crate itself after every accident. HELP!!

LOVE the video. So good - very well explained . So many people get shock when they get their first puppy... it is a new lifestyle for sure .. I have a wish: PLEASE make a video about your take / idea when it comes to Rage Syndrom and/or Dominance in dogs I do not belive the dominance myth ( it was after all debunked by the "inventor") - but the kind of dominance that you actually see in some dogs towards owners - and why. The innes who hate to be touched, have collar/harness on etc.. And i am not just talking about the spoiled dogs - i mean the once showing signs of being extremely strong minded dogs even as puppies.. . :) Would LOVE to hear what you think. If not a video - i would be very pleased with a reply here .. Love you guys!!! you are all awesome xx

My puppy is currently crate training and it seems to be going well and he goes toilet when I take him out, however the problem is he seems to have no problem with still going toilet inside mid play.
I am not punishing him for this behavior as I've heard it ends up making the puppy try hide when he goes, is there something that I can do to teach the puppy that he needs to go outside?

Hi there, Chad! Being proactive with your puppy, so that he has an empty bladder will help to lessen the likelihood that your puppy will have an accident. Marking the moment he makes a mistake with your voice (as mentioned in this video) will be an important step in his training. Thanks for watching! ~Ken

I used to have this issue too with our puppy. The problem is most likely you're playing for too long. Set a timer (10, 15, minutes, whatever is "reasonable" for your puppy) and take them outside. If they don't go, put them in their crate for 5 minutes and try again. Keep doing that until they go, then they can play again.
Especially during a playtime, they're too distracted to focus on the feeling of their bladder or bowels at a young age. They're going to suddenly, immediately realize they need to go potty, pop a squat, and then resume play. This is not their fault, it's yours! Setting a timer is super helpful, and you can increase the length of that timer every week until you've forgotten the last time you had an accident inside.

Taxi-ing, taxi-ing, taxi-ing. No water or food after 8pm. Do it from the age of 2 months to 3-4 months old. Their bladder grows quite a bit during this time period.

We rescued a 3 month old who was abandoned on a highway and then adopted but returned.
She fights us when we try to put her in the crate, even when we put treats and toys in and try to encourage her.
But shes also deathly afraid of being outside. We have a fenced area that we try to get her to go outside with us, but she will fight us when we try to get her leash on and when i pick her up she tries freeing herself/nipping at me. Other than that she is very sweet and understands basic commands.
Im worried it might be a trauma response, anyone have any tips or do we need to hire
    A professional trainer?

My dog is part of the family and we just don’t lock members of the family in crates! And you are talking only about locked dogs! My dog is free around a house all day. In that case accident can happen just any minute! And it’s happening just like that. Maybe your methods do work for locked dogs but for feee dogs won’t work!

Dogs are not family, they are just pets and, let's face it, they are not very bright. That's why I have never had dogs and, each time I visited people with doga, I witnessed potty accidents in those houses. "Trained" dogs...That's it, they have to stay in crate in order to learn, their brain is simply very bad...

Apparently many dogs, especially the smaller breeds, feel more safe and secure inside a crate. I wouldn’t, but apparently I’m a different species. Or so I am told.😂
