I love that she's her direct and no-bs attitude. I was inspired when she said she doesn't go to the studio unless she's already inspired to making music, and that she records jams and only gets back to them after several months to actually see if she likes them and to arrange them.
Very inspiring to have such an accomplished producer openly admit they need to spend more time learning about a particular aspect of music production, in this case mixing and frequencies. I don’t feel as inadequate now haha! Thank you for the video!
EB: for future Ask the producer, maybe you can use the artists different tracks and play them as short snippets when the question is shown on screen? The little loop played now can get a little repetitive.
Love this series, this may be my favorite one. I do wish that they'd break to some b-roll of the producer showing some of what they are talking about. I know it would take significantly longer but would also make it significantly better, IMO of course. Still one of the best channels on YT.
Thanks for this! Really great questions and its nice that you made a list of them so its possible to go back to them several times. Steffi is very knowledgeable, thanks Steffi!
Steffi, awesome interview. I love hearing you discuss areas where you'd like to increase your knowledge and skill. It makes me feel less self-conscious about my own knowledge gaps, like everyone here is on a similar road. Very inspiring. Thank you.
oh look, a real artist who makes amazing music and is not playing pretend with ghost producers while taking selfies on Instagram and DJing with sync on like 99% of the DJs now.
She comes across mad cool . I’ve watched the other videos with her a bunch of times , Her studio is amazing ..great gear and ergonomic approach to creating...good content ..wish she had her own RUclips channel
02:45 if you're splitting your midi signals (fro te cirklon's 5 outs °) you are not using a merger , but a midi splitter aka as midi thru box You're welcome
Steffi is een topper. Keer gezien in Breda, super leuk. Vroeg welke plaat ze draaide, kreeg de plaat mee naar huis! Echt aardig. Zie dat ze af en toe in berghain draait. Past ze precies. Geen poes pas. Gewoon goede muziek!
I love the answer regarding eurorack. I have similar fears, along with the monetary investment. Although partly it seems like a nice thing, to be less tied to the desire to make complete tracks.
This is a fantastic interview. Hey, if you read this. You could try to contact Björn Torwellen about lerning to mix with his Sinee Institut, or contact Robert Babicz? He starts teaching as well.
Such a great producer and humble which nowadays is rare, unfortunately this new generation is all about the looks to a point that is actually embarrassing. I really love this series it's all about music not about a shit fashion show. Thank you EB!!! :)
i used to own dx200 for easy hands on control of fm synthesis, but later i discovered Yamaha FS1R and its very powerful 16 op engine sound and easy to use. But quite expensive
@Steffi Is your data knob or your Scene knob broken? With the octatrack you could route the most used knobs via CC! If your scene knob this would be a possibility to spare your DX Hardware! I Use it this way! + I got that Elektron sequencer and 64 steps!
@@ElectronicBeatsTV if you have one it’s good, if not everyone should get one for much more reasons than just that one! It’s definitely worth it’s money! ✌🏽
can anyone point me into a direction where i can find replacement potentiometers and encoders for a dx200? mine is also slowly starting to fall apart and i am too stupid to find that on my own on the internet ;(((
I love how she just gets straight to it with no pretentious fluff when she answers these q's. Great interview.
Completely agree. It's so refreshing to hear interviews with producers who just talk business, not ego.
she's actually leaning most of the interview.
@@xaosm_os thats funny😉
"If you don`t wanna do music, you don`t do music!" ...really, that`s all there is to it! loved it!

So transparent and direct, really liked this interview
That's the famous Dutch bluntness for you.
She is amazing. I just knew her by name but her down to earth attitude and clarity made me watch the whole thing. Cheers!
Love Steffi's work and play her trax out often.. great artist and pragmatic, informative interview. Real deal.
She answered the question i had posted in the first 5 seconds, im so grateful!!
I changed the internal battery of my dx200 - the encoder was working fine again afterwards
Dx200 for the win!
Really my an200 has been giving me headaches , gunna replace it
Hearing other producers talk about process is my higher education ! Thank you EB for all you make !
EB: for future Ask the producer, maybe you can use the artists different tracks and play them as short snippets when the question is shown on screen? The little loop played now can get a little repetitive.
Agreed, 30 mins of that same sound is just too much. Even silence might be nice =)
Why not play tracks from the artist ..would make it more interesting..especially if it was unreleased material
💯
@@GoodfaYou The loop is from the end of Steffi's track "Kokkie" from the album World of the Waking State.

How great is Steffi! She has some really interesting insights. Really enjoyed this.
Steffi such a legend. Thank you for doing this q&a EB and Steff! Longtime Dolly supporter. Great label
My favourite so far, great series!

So straightforward and humble. Nice.

Fantastic interview - thanks for this!

Really liked the selection of guests for this series so far.
Loved this, thanks for answering my Microwave question....I struggle with mine too but love the textures.
The woman is dead straight with her solid no nonsense gaze. Inspires trust.
replacing the encoder on dx200 is not difficult. It is just time consuming because there is 3 circuit boards you have to remove to get at it.
oh look, a real artist who makes amazing music and is not playing pretend with ghost producers while taking selfies on Instagram and DJing with sync on like 99% of the DJs now.
Big love to you Steffi - thanks for being such an inspiration, both in the club and the studio

Nice interview. Good questions and a lot of useful information :)
Wonder if Steffi has the Roland TR727 latin percussion machine?.
Love her (Studio & Workflow) ;-)
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Steffi! A lot to listen to, nothing much to say but I'm in love! Keep on keeping it real!
Great approach on producing really good timeless music

The Cirklon currently has 4 years waiting list😂. We'll get there fellaz. We'll get there.

3:53 what is it... something timeline?
Doepfer Timeline Sequenzer but guess she means Doepfer Darktime, just changed some words.
@@ElectronicBeatsTV maybe she means Dark Time sequencer, this one actualy exists :)
@Buka Glasna Yes, I think so too
Doepfer (but perhaps Dark Time?)
Exactly, it’s Dark Time, i guess the only available sequencer from Doepfer beside the A157 atm.
Thank you!!! X
I love this channel
She’s a keeper! She’s good 😎 🇬🇧
Steffi is a freaking beast 🖤
what drum machine , Steffi mentioned at 25:57 minute? thanks
ult sound ds-4 by toyo gakki. it's the yellow/cyan machine beside her in the video.
At 3:52 which sequencer is this? What’s the name? Thanks!
Doepfer Darktime

Mainly in the first two hours after release, so they are probably subscribers 🙄
she is the best : D
i'm curious about the effects she did not talk about ( ;
Eurorack does not need to be synthesis! Use it as fx, sending virus b through qpas filter blows your mind. Small rack is fine.
What kind of Sequenzer aside Cirklon ?
Doepfer Dark Time
She rite, more patchbays. Loved this!
hahahahahaha Steffi...those closing comments made my day ! Loved your honest opinions : )

There has to be a producer called "Bleep Galore"... Thx for the video!
