My Mother used to make this soup. I lost her in 2012 and today is her birthday. This brought back beautiful memories. Will make this week. Thank you for sharing! ❤️ 🥬 🥕 🧅 🍅
So sorries for your loss 💔🎉
Oh thank you Love. I appreciate that. 💕
Sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. I lost my Mom in 2017 and I also have beautiful memories. I am happy my video brought back a fond memory on her birthday. Enjoy the soup❤️Grandma👩🏻
My condolences to you and your family 💕
Thank you. And thank you for taking the time 💕
I remember this, though I never made it at the time. I think I better try it now, the years have added some🤣😂. Missed you and grandpa, so glad to have you back!❤
We are glad to be back and we missed you also. We have been busy helping family members out and planting our garden. ❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
Grandma, you just have no idea how glad I am to have found you. I am definitely going to make this soup this week.
Welcome! I am so happy you found my channel. I hope you enjoy the soup as much as we do.❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
I made soup today and I got the idea here! I boiled my corn cobs for the base! It was a corn, potato chowder that I'll freeze in serving sizes ( cottage cheese or sour cream containers). I'll make this recipe soon! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa! I hope you enjoy this holiday weekend 💗💗🥰
Your soup sounds so good. Hope you enjoy this soup when you give it a try. Take Care! ❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
How do you do the cobs? Do you just make sure to use the corn water, or do you boil the cobs in the partially made soup, or something else?
@Levacque check grandma's channel for corn cob soup. Basically you just boil cobs after you have used the corn from it and use that as a starter/stock for soups.
It’s good to see as another video Grandma and Grandpa! The soup looks delicious and nutritious!
Thank you so much. Hope you enjoy❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
Hi G & G, hope all is well. Just got back from a trip up to NY for the grandsons graduation from NYU. Had a great time. I’v been making this soup for about 50 years when I learned it from Weight Watches. I made it very similar to your recipe but with more vegetables. Great soup to loose weight. Have a great Memorial Day and thank Grandpa for his service. I miss being in the military sometimes.
Hi George Glad to hear about your grandsons graduation. What a happy occasion to celebrate. Yes this soup has been around for a long time. Glad you also make something similar. Have a great Memorial Day and we thank you also for your service.❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
I remember my neighbor’s moms all eating this.
Hi this soup was so popular years ago. So many people have eaten it. Thank you so much for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻
That looked really tasty, going to have to make up a batch when all the fresh produce is available at the farmers market later this summer, good to see you still providing us with good recipes 😋
Hope you enjoy. Happy to hear you like the recipes.❤️Grandma👩🏻
So happy to have you here. Was thinking of you both. I remember that diet years back. It looks so yummy. I could eat some now. But I will make that, because I live anything with cabbage! Happy Memorial Day. 🇺🇸❤️
Hi Linda we are happy to be back after keeping very busy helping family members out. If you like cabbage you will definitely enjoy this soup. We are having some wind and rainy weather this Memorial Day🙁❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
I was thinking about you guys yesterday and hoped everything was OK.
I haven't seen this recipe for a very long time. It really is delicious. Thank you Grandma!
I hope you and Grandpa had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.
❤❤❤
Hi Marty Rose we are glad to be back. We have been very busy helping out family members and getting our garden planted. I have not made this recipe in awhile so we both enjoyed it. Like you said, it really is delicious. We had a relaxing Memorial Day. Monday has been a windy and rainy day.🙁 We hope you are doing well ❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
That looks great. I am making vegetable soup right now for an easy meal for the week ahead. I remember when this soup was all the rage for people wanting to lose weight. Mine is not to lose weight, but it has a lot of the same stuff and it really just makes you feel good.
Hi we enjoy vegetable soup also. Especially since we can have it for a few days. I am lucky because Grandpa likes to eat leftovers. Thank you so much for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻
Very nice Grandma ! I have a feeling my mother would really enjoy this. normally she don’t eat soup much during the summer months but I think this would be a great soup in the autumn for her and I think I would also enjoy it. What I like about what you showed us in this recipe is that you can add other things like PEAS! 😄 , I know Grandpa don’t like them 😂, but even cubed beef would be nice. So I will let you know when I make it. Wishing you both a nice peaceful and enjoyable Memorial Day and God Bless you both …. Brian
Hi Brian we are glad to be back. This is a great soup for the fall and winter. Glad to hear you mother would enjoy it. I hope your mother is doing well and you are also. We are having a relaxing Memorial Day as the day is windy and raining at times. Take Care! ❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
I was so excited it's been a minute since you guys posted anything
We are glad to be back. We have been helping out family members and working on our vegetable garden.❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
@@GrandmaFeral looking forward to more videos
@@GrandmaFeral I've been missing you, too. Glad to see you're well and happy.
Hey, here's an idea - would you like to share your garden with us, or at least the harvests, and what you like to make with them?
Thank you for showing the recipe! I remember a similar soup with kale and canned green beans but this one looks much better for my tastes. I can certainly lose a few pounds so I’ll give this a try soon. Thank you! ❤
Your so welcome! Hope you enjoy❤️Grandma👩🏻
I remember this craze. For myself, I would add garlic.
She put garlic powder in it.
@@Linda-in9ns garlic, not garlic powder
@@lisapop5219ok real fresh garlic would be awesome! The more garlic the better! 🧄
Yes fresh garlic is better.❤️Grandma👩🏻
Hi Grandma and Grandpa. Thanks for the great filmwork :)
Your so welcome! Thank you so much for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
This reminds me of my aunt Ruth Ann Lapinski from Riverhead Long Island, she used to make it all the time with fresh cabbage from the local farm stand.
Hi what a wonderful memory. Nothing like a fresh cabbage from the local farm stand.❤️Grandma👩🏻
Oh does this bring back memories. I loved this soup.Still have the recipe.Thank you for this wonderful video.
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.❤️Grandma👩🏻
Perfect timing, just today I was thinking I need to drop some weight.
Most of us do especially when we get older. Enjoy the soup❤️Grandma👩🏻
The soup looks delicious and I love that it doesn't have any added salt. Thank you for the video!
Your so welcome! Thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma👩🏻
Looks delicious! Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure 😊❤️Grandma👩🏻
Looks delicious
Thank you 😋❤️Grandma👩🏻
Must try!! Thanks for sharing!! 😋
Hope you enjoy and thank you so much for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻
So glad to see you again! We teach our salt-restricted patients to use a little white vinegar or GREEN hot sauce to get the tang of salt. I hate hot spicy things, but cannot taste a few drops of green hoy sauce. Love your soup, thanks :)
Hi thank you for the tip. I have never used green hot sauce. Next time I make it I will give it a try. Thank you so much for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻
@@GrandmaFeral When you first try it, add a few drops of the green hot sauce to your individual bowl just before eating it. We started with one drop to a serving spoon of soup. It gives tang, not heat. Love your videos!
I know this soup, it gets popular every decade. Looked delicious Grandma.
This soup seems to get more popular over time. Have a good week.❤️Grandma👩🏻
A squeeze of lime also mimics salt. Thanks grandma!
Hi thank you for the tip.❤️Grandma👩🏻
Not only delicious and good for you it has like 0 calories and no fat. Used this soup to lose weight...guess I have to make it again and knock the fat off! Thank you from an ex-Long Islander.
Hi good to hear from an ex Long Islander. Thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma👩🏻
I found your mashed potato cookie video while scouring the Internet for just such a recipe. I'm making them this weekend and I'm looking forward to working my way through all your cooking videos!
Welcome! Glad you found my channel. I hope you enjoy the cookies❤️Grandma👩🏻
Have not commented on your channel for a while now, thank you for the nice recipe. The soup looked delicious and I’m gonna have to try this out soon!❤️
Welcome back! Hope you enjoy the soup.❤️Grandma👩🏻
I don't need to lose weight, but because I love veggies (except peas), the soup sure seems yummy! And since I'm skinny, I'll eat this soup with buttered toasted rye or pumpernickel. 😋 Thank you for sharing the recipe!
Hi thank you for sharing what bread you eat your soup with. Rye and pumpernickel are my two favorites. I don’t eat them very often. I never had a weight problem but now that I have gotten older I have to exercise much more. Thank you so much for watching and have a nice day.❤️Grandma👩🏻
We learned you have to add white vinegar when making chicken stock or bone broth to get the nutrients from the bones. 1 or 2 teaspoons per quart. You will never taste it and may need a bit less salt if you use salt.
Hi I don’t use salt but I made bone broth for my Mom all the time before she passed away. I would always add some vinegar.❤️Grandma👩🏻
@@GrandmaFeral Perfect ! Bet your Mother loved it :)
I’m going to try this soup in the original recipe. ❤
Hope you enjoy and thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma👩🏻
Thank you! ❤ Very delisious and light soup! I add usually some oat and sunflower seeds in it 😊
Sounds great! Thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma👩🏻
Thanks so much for sharing this with us, I hope you and Grandpa are having a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!!
Thank you! You too! We have been enjoying the warm sunny weather but sadly we are having rain for Memorial Day. ❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
Thank you gramma and grampa❤️
Your so welcome! Thank you so much for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
I make that plus I end up making borscht!!!... lol😂❤
Sounds delicious another great soup.❤️Grandma👩🏻
As an advocate for people with eating disorders and chronic illness, I recommend adding protein to this dish. Also complex carb such as brown rice noodles and or potatoes to make a well-rounded nourishing meal. Adding a tablespoon or two of extra virgin olive oil , butter or avocado oil is important for absorption of nutrition. Balanced eating is important. Sustainable, eating and not crash dieting.
It is no longer a weight loss soup when those additional items are added to it. People have been using this soup for easy weight loss for decades without succumbing to eating disorders and chronic illness. Anyone with an eating disorder or chronic illness should seek treatment.
@@GrandmaFeralI agree. I work with a dietitian and they are required by law to only give you science back nutritional data. The recommendation would be not to consume the soup for weight loss without making some adjustments.
No one I know who has eaten this soup over the past 40 years to lose weight has ever suffered from any ill effects from it. Meanwhile, people I know who have gone on low carb diets, or who have consumed artificial sweeteners, processed diet foods, drugs to lose weight, etc. have all gotten gravely ill. Old-fashioned and natural ways are always best. 😁
Delicious! 😊
Thank you 😋❤️Grandma👩🏻
Yum!
Thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma👩🏻
Wow great idea, Grandma!! Thank you! Yummy...minus onions and bell peppers! 😋🙂 I do like soups tho. I can try it and see how it goes! Big hugs Grandma!! Hey Grandpa! 👋👋
Hi Grant you can add whatever ingredients you like to this soup. We are glad to be back after helping family members out and working on our vegetable garden. We can’t believe June is almost here. Love & Hugs Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
@@GrandmaFeral Missed you! 🤗🤗😍 Glad you are both back! Say hi to all the furkidz from BonBon, Charlotte and myself! ❤❤❤
Think I'll try it in the insta pot😋😋

My mother used tomato juice in this recipe...
Thanks for sharing and for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻
Brings me back to my anorexia days. It is tasty though.
Glad to hear you are better now. Thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma👩🏻
I remember the Dolly Parton soup diet from the 80s. Is this the same one?
This was just the Cabbage Soup Diet that was so popular here. I have never heard of the Dolly Parton soup diet. It may have been popular in the south. Have a nice day❤️Grandma👩🏻
Hi there , I am going to make this in a few days , may I ask what the apple cider vinegar does for it , I love apple cider vinegar 🎉❤
I would imagine it's like lemon juice - just adds a little zip, and brightens the flavors.
Hi the apple cider vinegar rounds out the flavor. Hope you enjoy the soup.❤️Grandma👩🏻
@GrandmaFeral Yummm I love apple cider vinegar
Looks delicious, I have congested heart failure and have to stop using so much salt. I notice in most of your video's you say you don't add salt. Do you use saltless or low salt items in the dish, or just don't add any salt at the end. I'm trying to eat more protein for lunch, but I don't like sandwiches anymore and wondering if you have any ideas. Do you just make your original recipes and leave out salt or do I have to go crazy looking for other recipes. I'm 76 and my husband is a year older, and I don't want complected things. Thanks if you have any idea you can share. Thank you. Stay well and safe
Hi I don’t use salt in any of my recipes. You do get natural salt from carrots, celery, spinach and other vegetables. Some of my recipes are original recipes and I leave out the salt and some are recipes with no salt at all. We like a salad for lunch with some chicken or tuna added. A regular omelette with some peppers and onion added. Also we have an egg white omelette with baby spinach added. We also like plain yogurt with some fresh fruit or a no salt granola added. A tuna salad, chicken salad or an egg salad on lettuce or in an uncooked red pepper in place of bread. These are a few meals for lunch that will give you protein. Beans are also healthy and give you protein. You can make a bean salad. You add three kinds of can beans that you like drain and rinse add some diced peppers, diced onion vinegar and olive oil a little pepper and store in a large glass jar and enjoy for a lunch. I hope this gives you some ideas for lunch.❤️Grandma👩🏻
@@GrandmaFeral Thank you so much, wonderful ideas. I hope I do well without salt. I'm sure I'll get used to it and follow you. Thanks for your long list of ideas.❤
Can you really lose that much weight on this diet? can i use purple cabbage instead of green? i like purple better bc it has more anti oxidants . may i also use fresh tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes? canned tomatoes make me have really bad throat and mouth sores.
You can use purple cabbage I would cut it up in smaller pieces. You can also use fresh tomatoes. Enjoy! ❤️Grandma👩🏻
This looks so delicious! I have to try this! Love you Grandma and Grandpa and the kitty's❤❤
