A bit misleading as there is no PS5 version. There was a patch to run the game at 60 frames a second on PS5, but it's still a last gen game running in emulation on PS5.
Well, that's typical ... just like the thing with the engine block and the oil ... a mosquito is turned into an elephant and it is actually compared with a ps4 version

It is a PS5 version because it had to be moved over to PS5 in order to get it to run at 60fps. You see all these people being like. This game is just backcompat it isn't a proper PS5 version. That's because with PS4 games. In order to get the extra fps and higher resolutions. It has to be moved over to be a PS5 game in order to get 60fps and higher resolution from it. So this game is technically a PS5 game now.
It's not really a PS5 version. It's the PS4 Pro version with a frame rate unlock via a patch for the PS5. Textures and everything else are as in the PS4 Pro version
Only difference between PS5 and PS4 Pro version is 60fps unlock as far as I know. It’s not a PS5 game...it’s a good game though. Enjoyed it at 60fps and the zombie hordes don’t slow it down...
Yeah this is my only concern with this video. Seems odd to discuss this game like its a bespoke PS5 version, which definitely isnt the case when you can play the game from an external drive on PS5.
WRONG. THere is more difference between PS4 pro and PS5 than fps. According to ElAnalistaDeBits video comparison, the PS5 version has slightly higher drawing distance and some models have increased their polygon size But fps is the biggest difference
The optimization is miles ahead of HZD and the game itself looks so good that you will enjoy the beauty of the game no matter what settings you rock. The details are on another level plus the photo mode is a banger
Agreed. Although it only runs at 30fps on my base PS4, I really enjoyed my time with this game. It was the smoothest 30fps I've seen in a minute, maybe next to Ghost of Tsushima.
@@NoxBruh The smoothest 30fps? I dont think so dude, the game was notorious for its performance issues on ps4/ps4 pro. The smoothest 30 ive tested has to be spiderman or ghost of tsushima.
This is the second time DF have done this now. There is no 'PS5 version', there's only the PS4 version running in back compat with a patch to unlock the framerate. Calling it the PS5 version implies a native app. So this is a comparison of PS4 and PC.
But, there is though. The PS5 version is the altered version of the game with adjustments to rendering (dynamic resolution) and frame rate. The game is running backwards compat but the build of the game is altered, making it a different version technically. I don't know why people must be so critical of this.
@@riceeater79 Of course it does, the PS4 build was migrated over and changes were made to accommodate the PS5, making it the fucking PS5 version. Do feel free to think otherwise, but facts are facts.
@Transistor Jump Agreed! But that's simply a technicality. The PS5 version is simply a modified PS4 Pro build of the game. I don't understand why this is difficult for people to grasp or comprehend.

@WD Forty If they tweaked the game, why the fuck they didn't even touch the loading times? They clearly just made a lazy fps unlock, this game doesn't even use ps5's SSD and CPU power to improve the loading times...
To be fair the only upgrade ps5 got was 60 fps so the fact that the graphics are so close considering these settings were for the ps4 pro, I think that's pretty impressive

Hey all. Just be aware that playing this single-player game (with absolutely zero multiplayer or online functionality) requires giving Sony Bend, Sony Corp, and some 3rd party I've never heard of access to browse and record EVERY file and folder on your entire PC, view and record EVERY web page you visit, and worst of all, view and record EVERY key you press on your keyboard (like, ya know, your passwords or bank card numbers). This is, of course, all done in the name of "preventing cheating" in this single-player-only video game. You also give permission to all of those parties to take all of the data listed above and give it to their partners to use for whatever purposes they see fit. This is true whether you agree to the "limited data collection" option or the "full data collection" option (your only two choices) before you start the game. Yes, privacy policies in modern video games _always_ suck, I know. But THIS IS NOT NORMAL-- it's way, way, WAY beyond even what EA forces you to agree to in order to play _their_ latest game (Mass Effect Collection). I'm not telling you to buy it (which I did, before I had this info) or not to buy it-- just making you aware so you have all the info to make your choice.

@@EpicConspiracy Xbox seems to load BC games very quickly, maybe it’s because of the way BC works on XBsX/S which is vastly different to PS5 BC. This bears out when you see that the latest native PS5 games are loading sections in around two seconds....RE8 for example, 2 seconds on PS5, 6-8seconds on XBsX. “Lie and misinform people” or maybe he made a fucking mistake? Seriously. Stop taking minor things like this so seriously and go take a walk or something.
@@sprogg11 that’s only for games that use dynamic resolution scaling, Days Gone uses a fixed resolution with checkerboarding.
By far the biggest change you're likely to notice switching to PC isn't even lighting, it's resolution.
Native resolution is just night and day over console upscaling and reconstruction in terms of image crispness, it's not even close.
Literally like putting a pair of glasses on you didn't know you needed.
Amazing how well a PS4 game holds up to be honest.
well, the most ps4 exclusives are above the third party stuff graphics wise, even a game like inFamous Second Son, which was released at the beginning of the last generation, could be released today and it would still look gorgeous
@Lov Mir get a grip
@Lov Mir they've never downplayed any consoles, check out their ac Valhalla video, they mentioned the ps5 is on path of the rtx 2080
@Lov Mir Schizo
This. This is optimization done right. Amazing work both of the devs and you guys for the effort of doing this video
PS4 Version running on PS5* looks great considering all things. I would like to see them give us a PS5 version if only for the SSGI and loading times, and do a dynamic 4k.
PS5 couldn't handle SSGI.
@@Mkilbride2599 pretty sure you’re just a troll, but just in case you actually believe the lies you’re telling yourself.. We’ve already seen SSGI being used in Demon’s Souls. Also, RT illumination and reflections are more taxing on the hardware.. PS5 has handled that pretty well. It’s ok to be a troll, but at least be accurate.
Only quirk I have with this comparison is the constant referral of the PS5 as the platform, but the game is running on it's PS4 Pro format but with unlocked framerate on PS5, so technically we're not comparing the game with it's visual fidelity turned up for the PS5 versus the PC.
Well its not ps5 game, its still PS4 game.
@Steps meaning the ps5 is playing the ps4 game. Not the native ps5 game
@Steps so the only difference is FPS. Nothing else. They speak of the ps5 version is the top quality version when it’s the same as ps4.
Basically the best version to play a ps exclusive is on pc.
@WD Forty and a ps5 isn't going to be close to a 3070 or above
Its is a ps5 game I see Sony fanboys crying all over the place. The ps5 version does have higher settings then ps4 pro and pc is the superior versions get it threw your thick skull
Pretty unforgiveable to state your comparing a PS5 game, basic facts are not hard to establish, and DF are normally more reliable than this.
I played this PS4 game on the pro and loved it enough to platinum it. Im glad pc players are now able to finally experience what was one of the best of last gen imo, and maybe we will get a sequel if people enjoy it.
This PC is wonderfully excellent. After the lacklustre port of HZD...this was so surprising in a great way
I played this through on PS5 and am also playing on Steam. Wow, the PC visuals are definitely kicked up a few notches. The light in the forest and overall sharper textures come across right away.
Alex u know very well ps5 runs days gone whit backwards compatibility, the settings are the same was ps4 pro, devs only unlock the frame rate and thats all
It sounds a bit confusing because you keep saying ps5 settings but it is the ps4 pro settings on everything except for framerate....SMH
Don't matter. It's running on the ps5 so that's all that matters. Pc version is better. Even the almighty SSD is trash on the ps5 😭😭😭😭
seeing that most people still have 1060 on Steam, can you guys do a review on what kinda settings we should use for a 5 years old GPU?
Exactly, reviewing PC port tech does not make sense if people dont have the same hardware.... Consoles however are just knowing what you get watching a video like this
1080p at medium or high seems like a safe bet from what I've seen
@@frisia3371 which is why PC optimization videos are more useful
GTX 1060 will probably run it 1080p optimized setting 60fps (with some drops). Don't expect anything better than that
The Steam hardware survey is very misleading
isnt the "ps5" version still ps4 version?
Yes, just with 60fps at 4K resolution.
Great underrated game that didn’t get the attention it deserves. I went in at launch not expecting much, but I loved it.
ergh it has/had problems and can be criticised in many, many ways
Me too
@@emeraldcelestial1058 And? So can any game. Doesn’t mean it’s not under-appreciated.
Nahhh the game's physics is terrible. You literally walk past a corpse like they are some ghost. The dialogues and story felt shallow and cringe. If it had the physics of rdr 2, it would've been really great.
@@goldensperm7182 did u played it lately?
I need a mod for Deacon to actually have a flashlight 🔦
I thought it was his beautiful personality shining through , but I guess a flashlight would make more sense.
*Fleshlight
Let Deacon borrow a flashlight from TLOU2
For transparency, the PS5 version is the PS4 version running in compatibility mode.
The only upgrade it got it's dynamic 4K and 60FPS.
So Alex is actually comparing the PS4 version of the game vs the PC version of the game.
You're discribing this wrong my friend
it's not a PS5 version
it's just the ps4 version running at higher frame rate, on the ps5. it's not a ps5-updated / graphically enhanced or whatever.
i mean, it is "on the ps5" but it's all ps4 pro stuff, just running it slightly faster, so the dynamic res is (always) 4K, and the framerate is 60.
Days gone does not have ps5 version as far as I know, it has only PS4 pro version running 60fps on PS5
Now Sony should release a PS5 version of this game.
Yes this is a dumb video because its literally not taking advantage of PS5 hardware, if returnal ever came to PC then it would be fare to compare
Trust they will sony the remaster company and then make you pay 70 bucks for iy
@@ramerefauntleroy4881 of course they won't... "fake" PS5 version right now is already almost perfect and nothing will justify a real port, as you can see it on this vidéo, the difference will be way to thin.
@@-Barbo- Except the game doesnt even use Ps5 SSD's decently, It was just a lazy fps unlock.
Something he missed, or maybe changed since then is that 'Render Scale' effects Draw Distance and shadow quality. Look out in the distance, increase Render scale and watch as shadow quality on close objects become more accurate and grass in the distance appears where it previously nonexistant
I'd love it if you could do a mention on ultrawide support for these PC tech reviews.
It supports ultrawide nativity
@@93836 yeah it supports it natively but it would be cool if they take ultrawide resolution and performance as well unless they wrote an article on their site about it
I don't know why he keeps mentioning the PlayStation 5, it's a PS4 game running in back compatibility mode, so it's a pointless comparison when it was designed for an 8 year old console that had already out hardware when it was released.
This is PS4 Pro version running on PS5 via BC.
I'm currently playing the game myself on my PC and I'm blown away that my GTX 1080 is handling this game with buttery smooth framerates, and the visual fidelity is just breath taking. This is such a great game to play in a market where it's impossible to find an rtx card. definitly enjoying my time and I can't wait to do a complete walkthrough.
Was just wondering how well the 1080ti does. Now I will check it out too
Playing on the Steam Deck at high settings motion blur disabled and I'm getting 45fps mostly locked, could lock to 40fps.
Interesting comparison. Good to see pc getting some love. Only feedback I'd have is that the vid could have benefited from a caveat that this not native game on ps5. Think that is quite an important oversight
What you mean? It is native on ps5 PC has stronger hardware and this is why PC has higher settings. The ps5 version does have have better settings then ps4 pro
Meaning, this is the PS4 version with a patch for PS5, so it's not an native PS5 app, it will still boot on PS4, so not a direct comparison
@@maxsettings2906 nope it is not a native PS5 version... It's a patched PS4 version running on PS5...
@@maxsettings2906 of course pc can be stronger. No denying that.
But put it this way, I can install this and play on an external drive, which you can't do with ps5 apps... It also actually says 'ps4' beside the app. So yeah, it's basically the PS4 pro version with the framecap removed in back compat.
He did mention that when talking about loading time, specifically stating that its a backward compatibile title on PS5 to explain the slow loading time there ...
To be honest Alex, whenever you say "compared to PS5" you should quote PS4, as this game received no upgrade whatsoever except 60fpson PS5.
Hopefully this means maybe we'll get a proper, full next gen update for PS5 beyond the 4K/60FPS update.
Excellent videos as always and very fast too! Great to see a DF video about a game on the day of its release :)
Keep up the exceptional work!
Glad to see a Ryzen 3600/RTX 2060 setup being used for testing, as I'm sure I'm not the only one with such a combination.
Alex is acting like there is a ps5 version. It is still the ps4 version with minor upgrades :p
Yup... he only mentions this with the loading times.
Yes there is no ps5 version. I dont like how they act like there is.
The only patch it had was to unlock framerates . I hope the developers give it the full ps5 experience
@Lov Mir ahahaha not seen so much shit in my life, devs lie all the time kid
@Lov Mir watch nexus mods, the gpu in the ps5 range from a gtx 1050 to a 1080
Great work Bend studio. Hope this review encourages people to try this game out, it's better than it is reviewed and the battles with the horde is a stand out gaming moment.
My AMD 5800X and nVidia RTX 3080 easily hit 85FPS as an average at 4K, max settings, rarely dropping below 80 and more commonly sustaining 100+.
I am very impressed by this port so far!
I am rewarding Bend Studio for doing such a great job on the conversion by buying the game. Well done.
It’s not a native ps5 game. Actually we haven’t seen any native ps5 exclusives. So far all major titles have been cross gen. Horizon 2 and god of war Will also be cross gen. We’ll have to wait 2-3 years to see an actual game made for the ps5 that uses the next gen consoles max power to the limits
FALSE! Demon's Souls is a native PS5 exclusive and Rachet n Clank will be also.
you can say the same about the pc version. no dlss, no ray tracing, no amd fidelity
this game can look and run even better on pc
This game, 1440p monitor @ 144 - 100hz with g sync, maxed out gfx.. chef's kiss 💋
Ps5 couldn't run it this well if it has a remaster
Loving how SSGI is looking in days gone, can't wait to see how far screen space global illumination techniques go as it seems to be a great middle-ground between fully raytraced global illumination. Offering a great improvement to lighting while not being nearly as heavy as RTGI. Although SSGI does have some noticeable artifacts especially in days gone where that third person pov often occludes the shadows that SSGI casts, being most noticeable around lots of foilage when looking around deacon's body.
He should have really made it clear on this video, that the PS5 version is really the PS4 version just with 60 fps. He makes it sounds as if this was made for the ps5. Come on man you got to do a better job at this.
I always forget how in depth your videos are. Amazing content!
That's like the one thing they're known for lol.
Beautiful on Pc. Good port too, I can play at 4k/30 on GTX 1070 TI or 1440p/60 all maxed settings. I'm so happy with the game.
I wonder if these upgrades on the PC can be done on a proper PS5 version upgrade. The current PS5 version seems like a quick update just to take advantage of the extra horsepower over the PS4, but nothing like this robust overhaul of the PC version, which looks great.
Take a look at Spiderman Miles Morales with increased texture detial, Ray tracing and machine learning muscle deformation at 60fps! There is no need to wonder, this patch didn't touch PS5's power or capability it's just the PS4 Pro version with an unlocked framerate.
