Pat is my favorite musician ever, started listening to his music back in the early 80's , have most of his live concerts on video, but I will finally get to see him live here in Memphis TN in October of this year.
Watching Pat play with these cats is unreal. Dave Holland’s bass work is fantastic, but as an aspiring piano player, watching Herbie Hancock play is nirvana.
Thank you. I wanted to read the comments before I decided to ask about the who's who, because that always needs to be included here or in the description. It's especially helpful for those who can't see and for those younger musicians who are being introduced to Jazz.
I saw this tour when they stopped in Toronto. I also saw Holland play the Montréal Jazz Festival around the same time. I can confirm, he’s an absolute beast. And fearless.

Jack: And has been that great on the bass since at least the late 1960s. One place I really enjoy listening to him is on the Metheny/Holland/Haynes CD "Question & Answer" (which came out in 1989 or 1990).
Yes, the drummer and bandleader Jack DeJonette and the bassist Dave Holland also played with Miles during the Bitches Brew era. Miles met Jack when Jack was playing with Bill Evans, who played with Miles on Kind of Blue.
This whole group is amazing. I just read another poster's comment who has recently seen PM in concert and said it wasn't all that great with the new band. I still would like to see him perform and am definitely hurt that Lyle Mays isn't with us anymore.
Don't believe everything you're told. I saw him last year on February 26 here in Atlanta, and he was brilliant! I couldn't take the smile off my face for a couple days after that show! People need to put themselves in Pat's shoes and suspend judgement just to see how he plays and how he always finds great and even young musicians who can play this music. He's a champion!
@@heatherstub YES! I've had the pleasure of seeing him TWICE since I posted that!🥰❤ I never doubted otherwise. And you're absolutely right....he and the band were each BRILLIANT!💯💥 I can't get enough of his music.
@@davidlord7247 Actually, they're correct. The uploader didn't include the full title, and he named the performing artist, but the original artist who composed this is indeed Herbi Hancock.
would be about time for a reunion of this group. don’t know if they could still pull it off in such a blazing manner. i saw pat with his new group and it was honestly not cool.
Lol ummm have you experienced the eye of a hurricane mr. Hancock? It’s not a blitzkrieg weather-war zone….the eye is absolutely calm surrounded by the worst storms imaginable. The actual eye is serenity itself. But if you’re from NYC ….

Me, too. How was the show? Ha! Dumb question. Have seen him five or six times.

The term 'supergroup' doesn't even do justice to this quartet.
This quartet are some of my favorite muscians. Definitely, the top tier of jazz musicians.
@@anthonysmith4449 same!!!
All brilliant in their respective mastery, but Dave Holland? Holy hell!! What a beast!!
Yes he is!👍🏾🎼🎵🤎
He's always amazing but in this performance he goes double (maybe even triple) beastly! Just the ability to think & perform at that tempo!

So is Bird's music, though.

Damn, what a magical performance by such totally amazing talent.
Great musicians came together that period.
Purée, quand la basse envoie, ça envoie !
Fantástico, cuarteto ideal, quizás añadiendo a Cris Potter ya sería el quinteto perfecto
This is exquisite explosive I can't get enough of listening to it
Love these Cats...yes it's the rhythm section 🎸🎻🎹🥁
Hay, don't forget the bass!

Looks like Herbi Hancock on piano, Fave Holland on d.bass, …
I thought so, too. At least now we know, because it's here in the comments.
