- In this DCS F-15E Strike Eagle video, we will talk about the aircraft PACS or programmable armement control system. This system provide and interface with all the aircraft weapons to the pilot. Part 2 will cover the PACS A/G pages and functions as well as A/G delivery menu.
More videos soon.
Module looks great. I’ve never been so excited to spend 80 bucks.
Please we need this jet, it’s just bloody beautiful
This is going to be a complicated beast to learn but it's going to be well worth it.
Complicated is good. Means that every mission will be interesting. I think that the F-18 is too simple to reliably have fun. Fun sometimes.
The F-14, Viggen, and A-10 on the other hand are always fun.
@@rhysgoodman7628 completely agree, the multicrew adds a whole nother layer of complexity to it which really makes for a fun module
@@rhysgoodman7628 i'll only fly mostly on GS pvp server, hopefully i'll only use A/A, A/G on this beast seems overly complicated even more than the F16
@@CMBelite-FR lots of options for sure, but I think if taught correctly by the right person you’ll get it easy, this video is a little hard to follow.
Getting this when released primarily to be my buddies WSO, and I am exceedingly excited.
Haha, same
I am thoroughly hyped for the Mudhen, your Harrier is one of my favorite modules so far and the improvements over the last year were noticeable.
So hurry up and take all the time you need to get this module into great shape before release.
So have they then fixed the incorrect behavior of the DMT, INS, Mavericks, TPOD and all? I haven't flown Harrier for at least 7-9 months as it did annoy to fly unrealistic plane.
I know a lot of folks think of this as being the premiere air to ground jet (which it is), but this thing will be an absolute monster in the air to air arena.
Just keep in mind your heavier and a little less maneuverable than a normal F-15C, drop your fuel on start up and you should be good to go. We’re gonna have a massive fantastic radar in the nose so lock range won’t be a problem, but speed/alt combo might be. We will have to wait and see
Got the F-15E since pre-order and tried it once or twice just to see how it performed but stayed at AV8B and use F-15 for later to learn. At this point in the Playlist, it seems nearly impossible to come from AV8 to F-15E without watching this or reading all the manual. Some things are similar but most are not :D Good videos!!!!!
Alright, it’s like a fast A-10 when it comes difficultly. I love it!
Would be pretty awesome if you guys included the mission planning software as part of the jet so you can pre-plan and save missions to a DTD and load them up.
Pretty sure that’s everyone’s dream. ED needs to work on that. It’d make multiplayer far more fun an interesting.
I’m so ready for this Plane 🥹
Some very nice menus with good features! I like the programmable jettison button for multiple presses. It would certainly smooth out this process.
Haven't been this excited for a game in a very long time
I'm continually impressed by how straightforward and user-friendly this jet seems to be. I mean sure, there's a lot of different stuff to remember, but it all seems very thoughtfully organized and accessible.
Just in case, there's wrong spelling on when you reprogram PROG 1. selecting delivery method, CIDP -> CDIP
awesome vid!!
CDIP
This thing is a beast. Can't wait.
Very well explained. Thank You.
I really hope the F-15E is close to release, I don't enjoy playing DCS anymore and the F-15E is my favourite aircraft along with the Rafale. I can't wait to start it and learn everything about it
Totally agree, would KILL to get a Rafael or Gripen
The OP F-22 is what I'm not liking in DCS.
@@shaneduc it's not even an official module it's a mod so I don't know why you hate.
@@burningpotato9447 did I use the H word? Unless your in a F22 you will lose.
@@kinggooseman5373 I don't even expect one, but it would be SO awesome ! I'm already happy to get an EuroFighter, the placebo Rafale/Gripen for Europe
I am probably not gonna buy the F-15 but i must admit it looks impressive. Gonna get the mig-23 tho
Definitely getting the MiG-23, me and my friends nicknamed it the bearcat because it’s pretty much the offbrand Russian tomcat
Razbam, every day you delay the release, God kills a kitten. Please, think of the kittens. Can't WAIT for this bad boy!!!!
Anyone notice that CDIP is listed as CIDP until he clicks on it while setting his program? Hope that’s caught before release.
You mentioned during the jettison discussion that MER/ TER are "no longer used"; do you mean that they are no longer authorized for use, or simply that they are not in common use on current SCLs? My understanding is that the aircraft should be capable of carrying MER or TER on centerline or wing, is that accurate?
Will you include MER and TER as valid options in-game for the sake of completeness (and to enable mission creators to configure the aircraft for missions set during the early years of the aircraft)?
If nothing else, I'm sure there is SOMEONE out there just itching to load up full MERs and full CFTs with as many Mk82s as physically possible and waddle the poor overloaded beast in the air just to see if it can flatten an entire town in a single pass.
Me. It's me. I wanna sortie with highly inadvisable quantities of Mk82.
I would love to take off with a million MK-82’s all over my aircraft
Next, could you talk about the control layout? Specifically the Mudhen's HOTAS
Is the AG Ranging source hierarchy planned to be modeled in some detail? Will it be necessary to set hierarchy correctly to avoid boo-boo's? I.e avoid bad R-ALTs over uneven terrain or for example get more accurate solutions with LAS range? Thanks.
literally my two favourite jets the mudhen and the phantom.....im going to be broke 😅
Do they give release dates for aircraft or do they just surprise.
Surprise
You might get an announcement from the company for a time frame, but sometimes they kinda just poof
It's usually two weeks.
GBU-15 sounds like a fun time, because air defense can't shoot at "bombs".
Looking great…..
Fantastic!!
Can we set the fuze on the bomb, so that it will arm itself after x seconds. Otherwise the function would be useless in the jet and maybe fuck the run up.
Thanks Notso!
Why is the initial CDIP/AUTO selection typed "CIDP" - is it a typo in the sim model ?
When selected, it read CDIP.
Super interesting :)
What are you doing STEP Program???.....
Not sure what takes longer, this guy waffling on just about everything over and over again or razbam releasing the plane
Thanks, Notso
OH MY GOD, I CANNOT WAIT ANYMORE PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE RELEASE IT SOON :D
Top 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Huh... so this implies the aircraft cannot carry mixed ordnance on the CFT pylons; you couldn't carry, for example, 3x Mk82 and 3x Mk20 on one side; you would have to put 6x Mk82 on the left and 6x Mk20 on the right if you wanted that mix?
Indeed, there are two quirks with the CFTs.
First, no mixed load-outs, they are not really individual pylons, it is best to view them as weirdly shaped Multiple ejector racks.
The second one is, that only the lower three stations per CFT are wired for GPS guided munitions, so an F-15E can only carry a maximum of 9 JDAM (2x3 on the CFTs and 3 on the wet pylons)
@@kilianortmann9979 That latter part is apparently no longer true; I just saw industry press releases indicating that the F-15 can now carry 15x JDAM, accompanied by photos with GBU-38 on all the CFT stations. I think the update was only in the last couple months.
*edit: apparently, they were only cleared for ferrying ordnance, not employing them from the additional stations.
...which is all kinds of retarded. If you can't carry JDAM on all of the stations of a CFT, then by putting any JDAM on the CFT at all, you rob yourself of employment capability. You can't even put anything else on that CFT if you have any JDAM on it, and it would be so easy to fix with a simple wiring harness update and a tiny tweak to software to recognize the additional stations in the PACS.
@@bronco5334 It is all a bit whacky, but a cost cutting decision. I think upgrading the PACS to recognize the six CFT stations as individual pylons might be a bit complicated, while wiring the upper CFT stations for smart weapons might be more straightforward.
I am afraid it all comes down to expected requirements. Missions where an F-15E drops more than 6 GBU-38 equivalents are probably exceedingly rare, and if they occur probably better covered by a B-1 or B-2.
An F-15E with two fuel tanks under the wings, two GBU-31 (2000lbs) on each CFT and one under the center belly is pretty much spot on MTOW and a very potent warfighter.
In the mid 80s they probably didn't expect every weapon to be smart and now it does not warrant the upgrade cost, because most missions are flown with reduced load-out anyway.
I guess, we'll have to get a bit creative in DCS to get the most out of the Mudhen, there should be a triple launcher for the Maverick under each wing, resulting in a lot of fun.
@@kilianortmann9979 Still doesn't make much sense to me, really.
As to the "will you ever need that many bombs?" question... the answer depends heavily on what mission set you're looking at. In GWOT, no. Loiter trumps weapons load, and it is rare more than a couple bombs are dropped in any given sortie.
But GWOT is not representative of every war that will ever happen. I can certainly think of mission sets where a high quantity of 500 pound JDAM would be extremely handy to have. For instance, a long range mission against, say, an airbase. The wing stations will be needed for fuel, so you're going to be limited to CFT stores. The target set includes numerous DMPIs; say you want to put a bomb into each aircraft shelter, plus you have the traffic radar, multiple fuel storage sites, ammo dumps, and you'll want delay fuzed weapons each onto the runways and taxi junctions. That kind of target might require 30-50 DMPIs, many of which (aircraft in open-top revetments for example) do not require a warhead as large as a Mk84, but absolutely DO require a high munitions count. Might a B-1B be a better choice than the F-15E? Maybe, but those are extremely limited in number, and don't have the self-escort capability of the F-15E. The ability to do a supersonic (or very high subsonic) lob ripple of 12+ GBU-38 would be invaluable against such a target.
The same could be said about numerous types of industrial and infrastructure targets. A good example: ammunition storage on military bases. Typically, it's stored in numerous individual hardened munitions bunkers. You have to put a bomb in each, and frequently an ammo yard has dozens (sometimes hundreds!) of them. Factories will often have numerous independent DMPIs that need to be struck, as do oil tank yards, refineries, dockyards... there are a LOT of target sets for which high counts of precision munitions are appropriate.
And it doesn't make a lot of sense to not just do it. They already had to program the PACS to recognize munitions on the CFTS; expanding that programming to recognize 6 per CFT instead of 3 should not be a difficult task. Running the wiring can't be that difficult, either.
I get that they want to save on costs and labor expenditures, but it just seems like an odd choice to withold a capability that could be invaluable in high intensity conflict, just to save pennies on the dollar. Compared to operational maintenance for routine training, retrofitting the smart wires in should be a drop in the bucket.
Patiently waiting on MiG-23....⏱
Seriously?
F15: CDIS, every other jet: CCIP
F15: PACS, every other jet: SMS
Why?
Also let me get this straight. They found that weapons were inaccurate with specific delivery maneuvers and they came up with tables of correction factors. So they then decided, in their wisdom, that they didn't want to program those tables into the aircraft to do it automatically for you, because the aircraft knows it's attitude, speed and the weapon being dropped. And instead they printed those tables on a piece of paper for the pilots to remember or carry with them. Is that correct? And they STILL had to update the aircraft systems to allow the entry of those values. Someone needs to be fired.
Do you have some expectations when it’s ready to buy?
Let's goooo
How do you do a TOT attack? It's configured in the PACS or in the waypoint?
Is there a release date as of yet? Anyone?>
Any Date on the release.
On the Jettison knob, do the A/A and A/G selections jettison those specific thing? Ie all air or all ground weapons? Or do it jettison everything EXCEPT the selection? In other words, does the A/A selection jettison all A/A weapons, or does it jettison all ground weapons in anticipation of A/A combat?
Normally what you select is what you jettison. For example selecting jettison a/a would jettison all of the air to air armament.
I've never flown the f15 of course, so I'm basing this entirely off of my knowledge of the 16, 18, and harrier, which all work in this manner.
If you rotate to A/G selective jettison, the selective jettison page will come up on any page that displays the PACS and on the front cockpit MCPD. There you will have the ability to select which station you want to jettison and if you want to jettison only the stores, the racks or the entire pylon.
Do you guys have an approximate date for this release?
EAGLEEEEEEE!!!
Great Video, when can I buy it and how much.
so when is it getting release ? like 2 years
If I jettison everything on ground i would not open canopy :D
no ground radar ?
I would love to hear some kind of prediction for release, not like a date or month, just know if the aim is this year, or if the aim is next year
I heard December for it to be playable but not sure if that's correct
@@Max-prime1212 that’s what I’ve been told, buts it’s super unofficial, I just want razbam to tell us if we should expect this year or not
yEAHHH Thank's
when is this supposed to be released?
you can just release it then keep updating it!!!!
Is tomorrow the day?
What a coincidence, I also identify as a MK82
when will it drop?
Will TGP use the same broken implementation of F-1 and F-18 where there is no inertia at all in terms of camera movement?
Can confirm. The crew chief would (respectfully) beat the shit out of you if you emergency jettisoned everything on the ground.
That would be more of a Weapons problem crew chief would give two shits lmfao
@@KENMACK29 yes they would. Crew chiefs are responsible for the external tanks. Not to mention getting the shit scared out of you, or killing someone because a pilot decided to punch every store into the dirt. And guess who would have to clean up 600 gallons of fuel spilled if you just punched 2 tanks. The crew chiefs (:
I already want to fly and launch 8 rockets in TWS mode .
