  • Well-aged scotch whisky? Finished in sherry casks? Obviously, we were very intrigued and needed to taste them to fully appreciate them. The ‘Double Double’ series from Dewar’s marries incredibly well-aged whiskies with finishing in three different types of sherry casks for each expression. The 21 year old is finished in Oloroso. The 27 year is finished in Palo Cortado. The 32 year old is finished in Pedro Ximenez. It is very difficult to warp your head around these expressions from Dewar’s if you’ve only ever had the white label. These whiskies are completely different beasts! But are they good? Are they worth the money? Do they live up to the hype? Or exceed our Dewar’s expectations? We had to find out how these Scotch whiskies were in the ‘real world’ and not just on paper.

Wow 32 years old! I just saw what I thought was a new double double newly released and it was reviewed in the December Robb Report, Black Label on the bottle, $1,800 with 2 Baccarat glasses. It sounds like a very different expression! I am excited to try and find these Dewat’s double doubles. They sound beautifully complex which is important to me. Did I get it correct that these are complex? I love Oloroso casks. Talk about a delicious influence! Rich and dense sounds spectacular! Fabulous reviews! Great channel! New here! Thanks so much!! Cheers!

Superb review. I love the concept of a ‘friendly’ whisky. I have the 21 year old (50 cl in Scotland) but I need to try some of the older ones. You have a great rapport with one another so keep up the good work. And, fix the clock! 😉

Thanks for watching! They certainly opened our eyes. Oh, and the clock, it’s always 5:00 somewhere!

I love the idea of the half bottles; I hope more producers go with this approach. I just ordered some Killowen Irish Whisky and they are packaging things the same way.

Absolutely. I'm always interested in exploring as many different whiskies as I can. 375s would make it so much easier! And of course I'm talking about a 375 not a 'pint' haha.

That makes sense. I need to save up for the 27 yo as it is £260 here, so, not an everyday tipple.

Dewars definitely gets less attention than Johnnie Walker and Chivas. My brother in law is a huge White Label fan, for whatever that’s worth. I tried the Dewars range from 15-25 years old at Whiskyfest last fall, and my impressions were the same as yours here. The 19 may be the sweet spot on the quality-price curve.
