"Man really just ate that whole catfish and passed out behind the toilet." I've had weekends like that.
4:29 Those are addax antelope. A critically endangered species from the Sahara Desert. A lot of people privatley own these animals but they're also found in zoos.
So cool there’s in Texas where they should be /s
Yeah this otter is like....way friendly for a totally wild otter not used to people. River otters aren't exactly mean to my limited knowledge but they aren't known to be this friendly. I would have expected some fearful vocalizations as it gets more food amd rest but it just seems really exhausted and grateful to be cared for? A few other people have mentioned thinking this was originally someone's pet but as these videos go on I'm more and more inclined to agree. He is SO friendly if he's not used to being around people. He literally approaches and investigates Uncle Ben regularly and doesn't seem frightened of the volunteers either. It would definitely explain why it's so skinny and was approaching people at the golf park. If he was dumped there they probably thought he would be fine hunting the fish in the area but if he doesn't know how to hunt because he has always been under human care, they really just left him out there to slowly pass away. 😕 And he was probably super scared too?? I keep seeing people under videos of people who own otters thinking their cute pets but they're wild animals and no amount of cute videos changes that. People usually want the much smaller asian otters so maybe they tried to release him because he's freaking huge and feeding him would be either time consuming or super expensive. This just doesn't seem like a wild ahh otter.
River otters actually are pretty territorial
@@jacobgober3875 I mean yeah but how many of us are really rolling up on a gang of river otters. 😐 Most animals are territorial to some degree. Moose are extremely territorial and not afraid to get aggressive basically on sight. So are hippos. I'm pretty sure they're one of the most aggressive and territorial animals in the world tbh By my own measure of course. I'm not sure if that's scientifically true. I just know hippos take hundreds of lives a year and that seems like a lot for an animal that doesn't prey on other animals. Comparatively a human could likely be near a river with river otters in it and be safe to fish within a reasonable distance. Whereas a hippo will charge you the second they detect significant motion.
I'm definitely not suggesting that it's safe to be near river otters. Uncle Ben is super clear about warning folks about how freaking dangerous these animals can be if appropriately provoked. I think an otter that grew up in the wild wouldn't seek refuge with humans and the fact that so many people were so close to it is what makes me think it's more used to people than it should be. Because like you said, they can be pretty territorial and a starving otter would likely be even more aggressive. It doesn't sound like it was attacking anyone for food or anything. It was just like ... approaching people and falling asleep. An otter that started to see humans as a source of food later in life would still be territorial and all that. He does also mention that he may have narcolepsy - maybe as a joke I legitimately can't tell - but he's so skinny my brain is like "Poor thing is starving and exhausted." Then he fell asleep halfway out of the shower and I'm confused again. Because I would still suspect this big guy of being a dumping victim even if he is narcoleptic. Which would mean these monsters dumped a dependent, disabled otter off in the wild and expected it to survive?? Idk I am absolutely intrigued by this otter.
Otters are dicks! That's not a normal otter.
It's very upsetting. The exotic pet trade is.
@@victoriabaker4400 More and more every day 😕
This might be controversial opinion but I like these videos more than the main channel videos. Both I like and watch I think these are more interesting
I see no real difference.
yeah, the meme slop gets tiring

Big Once is on the old channel...I actually wish this was just 1 channel. ...I just love any video Ben puts out..
If Mr otter is a narcoleptic, will he possibly become your first proper ambassador?
🙏 please
Ikr? If he wS starving already as a release and was going up to people I don't see how he could be safely released. .
@@victoriabaker4400fr
Sorry to hijack your comment but I have Type one Narcolepsy (With Cataplexy). If Ben or anyone at the centre reads this, look for symptoms of cataplexy in the otter as an indication for potential narcolepsy. In humans it presents as a brief loss of muscle tone, normally with a sudden emotion such as anger, laughter and excitement. I also get it with surprise. In humans the face muscles can start to switch so iit can be mistaken for an epileptic seizure. You can have a look on youtube at dogs having cataplexy attacks for a better idea of how symptoms may present in smaller animals.
Hopefully the otter will become fully healthy and can get released though!
@georgewilliams3560 Unfortunately, I just don't see how this otter could ever be released. It is way too comfortable around humans. Otters are super territorial animals. Sick or not it's friendly behaviour is super bizarre and probably means he was an abandoned pet.
I'm a big Boo-Boo coyote fan:) BUT Mr Beans is my fav. That duck has gots loads of love,
Narcoleptic otter was not on my 2024 bingo card
That’s amazing getting to see the Green Herons out in nature doing their thing. You’re doing great work Uncle Ben 👏🏼👏🏼
I love how of course they recognize Ben, but they have so stayed wild. Seeing them fishing as littles really shows how dinosaur they are.

Ive treasured Boo Boo's (coyote version) growth. Coyotes are real special to me. I wish him much luck in the wild. Thank you for all you do, Uncle Ben. ♡
2:02 That's what I thought he's way too friendly with people. Sad the captor didn't at least bother to make sure he was fit to survive before just dumping him. 😢
that's probably why he was dumped in the first place.
I'm glad to be around folks that share those feelings
@@victoriabaker4400 Like seriously I know it's a hard ask since what they are already doing is illegal and selfish but man you really can see how people feel about animals by how they treat them like actual toys.
4:26 I believe those are Addaxes! Critically endangered in the wild, but apparently common in captivity.
yep
That’s actually sad. I know Texans like to hunt scimitar horned oryx, which is extra sad because they’re extinct in the wild.
@@ferretyluvthey got downlisted too endangered
@@ferretyluv Happy update for the scimitar oryx. They were successfully reintroduced into the wild in 2016 and at the end of 2023, they were reclassified as Endangered. Still very protected of course.
@@ferretyluv They aren't extinct in the wild anymore also those texas game ranches are part of what helped preserve them.
Incredible the Waco Wildlife Rescue was so integral in the FBI's investigation into P-Diddy. I heard Big Ounce personally arrested Diddy during the raid.
Have to say as a non-religious person, I find the scripture at the end very heartening. Thank you Ben.
Not to my taste, but it takes all kinds.
Imagine the person you love the most in this world, God loves you more! you dont need to be overtly religious to see his mercy move in your life, just takes a mustard grain sized amount of faith!

I wonder if an MRI or something might not help figure out why the otter is so sleepy. I mean Narcolepsy could be a good diagnostic, but it's always good to be sure, y'know? Regardless, he's so friggin cute and i'm so happy to see him gain weight! You're awesome, Uncle Ben!
they do sleep alot during the day. but i never seen one just pass out like that.
@@gogereaver349 Yeaaaah that's kinda why I was suggesting a brain scan of some sort. Make sure the little guy is okay. Maybe some blood tests to see if he doesn't have a deficiency of some sort. Although this little guy literally just... Boom! Passes out :'D
I think something cool that Uncle Ben could do is set up live stream cameras in the flight pens where he keeps the animals where we can get a 24 hour stream of them like some zoos do. Now I don't know if that would be allowed or how it would effect the animals, but I think it could be pretty cool
Bobkitty made me forget everything.
Yes we need bob Kitty information 😻
Can’t wait to see more of the little fluff🥹
Bobkitty healed my depression as soon as I saw it
Same!
More bobKitty! I agree.
I love Boo Boo the coyote! He’s been one of my favorite animals you’ve rehabbed so far. Ngl, I wouldn’t mind seeing him stick around as an educational ambassador, but I’m glad he’s gotten well enough to go back out soon & live his best wild coyote life!
I love Coyotes I'm so glad you're educating people on how amazing they are.
They’re really cool and important animals. They have zero interest in eating pets if we’d stop encroaching on their habitat.
Otter has neurological issues.
You can tell by the way he presses his head into surfaces, and falls asleep easily. Look up "head pressing" behavior.
Ben grows a mustache at 10:03
Thought the same thing 😂
Uncle Ben there’s a guy on RUclips with coyotes as pet dogs I think you’d really like because he’s hilarious & not serious!
Now he mustn't get closer than 300 feet to kindergartens

Honestly, seeing the rehab process of Booboo has given me a lot of insight into the rehab process that I will put to good use in comics
The young coyote has gotten so big, and so healthy. Ben you are a wonderful human! 💜
great job you do. more people in the world like you would be a good thing
Mustelids cant be emeciated like that and NOT sleep. They straight up crash every so often.
Love from germany 🇩🇪♥️
From Heaven Biggerton, Homelander, Remmington continue to cure our depression.😁🙌💕
It always possible it could be a Narcolepsy case, but Ferrets/Polecats like Otters are Mustelids, that it's normal for them to sleep up to 20 hours a day. When Ferrets/Polecats sleep they enter a lower metabolism state, a torpor state (mini-hibernation), to conserve energy since they won't be eating.
I have ferrets and used to have a part ferret part polecat mix. I can attest they sleep 24/7 and on multiple occasions I've had to double check they weren't dead.
Oh and in case you were wondering my ferret/polecat mix was a rescue who was found on the side of a road as a kit. She was surviving off of vegetation which caused severe kidney problems when she was older and she had to be put down because of it. She had a happy life though, don't worry.
Fairly certain Ben will either have to hang onto the otter, or rehome him, but no matter what, I don't see I'm going back to the wild with the (apparent) narcolepsy. That, and the presumed former pet past.
I would watch a channel with nothing but the beaver. I adore that cutie!!!
My cringe ah assumed green herons would be as tall as a blue herons 😅
When I introduce my wife to people I say "this is my dog booboo". Thanks Uncle Dad Ben
I love Boo Boo! I hate that he and his new friend will have to be separated. I don't even like to leave my dog alone while I work so I come home at lunch time even though I don't even need to. I did for my senior before she passed.

The otter likes the coolness of the tub. Lots of animals, including dogs and cats like laying against cool surfaces while sleeping.
Clearly, some animals need releasing, and some cannot. I hope Ben is wise. 🤞🏻🥰
I'm liking and appreciating the verses at the end now, uncle Ben! 🙏

Boo-boo is amazing, and I love him. And I would never tell you how to do what you do, but I think if it was my rescue, I wouldn’t seriously consider keeping any of them as ambassadors, unless they very literally could not survive on their own-not even the new back property. Again, just my thoughts.🤗🤗🤗
