Those Mountain Engines always make me think about the American Cab Forwards Built By The Southern Pacific Railroad, this reminds me of Sherman hill Mullan Pass Stevens pass and Donner pass.
One of those lines that I have tried to visit but usually the weather has decided to play havoc and I have not managed to get up there yet! Will try again as soon as I can. Lovely video and some cracking shots. Very nicely done
Excellent video John!. Have yet to visit Snowdon Railway. This fabulous movie, and info you have provided gives me some idea on what to expect should I venture over there!. It's a thumbs up from me!
Congratulations John on this magnificent production....Stunning scenery of course, but you've managed to capture some unforgettable images of those trains working some incredible gradients. Some wonderful long shots and you've even captured two following each other closely can't fault it...10/10...Best wishes...Bob
What a great day out & some brilliant footage John, very enjoyable to watch however I did feel for you on the return on foot but the only way to get those stunning shots of the trains. I can feel a trip coming on but without the 'mountain goat' experience!! Regards, Brian.
Yes John, I appreciate the difficulty so will not try to emulate your excellent effort. Looking at fares, maybe that helicopter would be a reasonable option... lol. Regards, Brian.
I know why the train has a cog wheel In the middle, The Cog Wheel is to help climb the steepest hills and mountains. And cannot do it without the Cog Wheel to support it. ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
Those locos sound brilliant. Amazing view at 2:15 going into the clouds. Only trouble with that line is you don't get to choose which train you get, so you may have to end up with one of the diesels, which are just noisy.
Hi John , very good , lot of people walking, could not do it myself had an accident on my knee a few years ago See a few of the locals with there white fur coats on .Once again great filming ..Dave
Spectacular production John, wonderful scenes of the trains battling their way to the summit in that magnifiecent scenery and you got the weather you needed too with little wind. Like yourself I've often wanted to visit but never made it, hopefully I'll rectify that in 2016. How long was the walk down from the summit?
The Culdee Fell Railway is based on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, and most of the engines you see in this video are the bases of the characters. For example, you can see #2 (Ernest) as the engine chugging up the hill.
yes I have read the Thomas and friends book secaece and if you look you see a lot of narrow gage line from that like tylwn line is skalolys and snowdon to

Great video John that has certainly whetted my appetite. Thanks Alan
Kinda reminds me of my old 'Exploring Welsh Railways' DVD i have. Put a catchy tune and it would have been perfect. Great filming, Simon :)

“Culdee” and his friends in real life! This is cool.
Very enjoyable viewing John, we went a few years back but your footage looks a lot better than mine with the sun out.
You did pretty well for steam. Nice footage.

An interesting fact. Thanks for watching and for your comment. Regards, John
Wow amazing new sub friend.
Many thanks for your comment which I appreciate very much. Regards, John
So they can have two trains in section at once following each other? How'd they get that past the Railway Inspectorate?
It's a pity it's become so dieselised. I can remember when it was just steam.
