Almost too much! I never thought I'd live to see the WHR running again, but here it is, looking like it's never been away. Brilliant filming and editing - thank you.
Breathtaking! No human noises to detract from the wonderful sounds of the steam trains and scenery. Perfect choice of locations and excellent editing. Thank you for your effort 🙏
Thank you for your kind comments. The scene was filmed on a charter at the railway and we had a number of these staged runs but this one was the best of the lot
This is a fantastic experience for anyone who loves steam train travel .I shall be going to have that experience in September when I visit north Wales. I've had a great time last year thoroughly enjoyed it.
A fabulous compilation, thank you Austin. So many memorable shots with (IMHO) those standing out at 04:05 with the two carefully timed trains, 09:05 and 11:20 - superb framing and locations and, presumably your own favourite at the end, the 5* magic finale. Hard to describe the enjoyment of watching! Kind regards, Bob.
Thanks Bob, the first shot you mentioned was on a charter in 2014 and had obviously been set up by the organiser to get the two trains passing. I've asked if a similar shot can be attempted again in November. You're correct in saying the last shot is a favourite and it semed appropriate to finish with a train going away even though this is a shorter version to the one on the full video of the 2014 charter
A brilliant compilation! You had just about every engine on each line. Good to see the Tasmanian Garrett and Fiji as well. It made me realise how the two railways enhance the scenery. This was well demonstrated in your last long distance pan.
An absolutely stunning compilation Austin, covering both lines perfectly and many shots in glorious sunshine, I particularly liked the low shot at the Cob in the evening sunlight.
Thanks Bob, we've had some lovely days out at both railways over the years. We had hoped to make another attempt at the Cob shot during last years charter but the light was never good enough. Hopefully this November we may get lucky
Fabulous footage. I love the composition of placing the trains in the landscape. It brought home the place the F-WHR has within the scenery and the amazing restorations of locomotives and stock. Particularly enjoyed the appearance of the now-departed K1!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the video. I think that when you have such wonderful scenery it has to be included in the shot whenever possible. It will be good to see K1 return one day, the shots here are from a charter in 2014, the only time I've seen her
@@acw71000 How good of you take time to reply to my observations. I sort of gathered it was previous footage of the K1 but it was much appreciated. You know sometimes I think we all tend to concentrate on the machines and underplay the line's surroundings. However, nobody could accuse you of that in this offering. Keep up the good work.
Exceptional compilation Austin. Coverage of the great narrow gauge railway in Wales. All captured in superb countryside. Enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
Excellent compilation of the F&WHR Austin, great locations used. Really like the shots at 7:17 and 10:16. Regards James P.S - I've another layout video due out soon and I think your going to like it.
Superb footage and great editing Austin! Some very enthusiastic running by the crews and, if I'm not mistaken, a couple of appearances by the little K1 Garrett, which i believe is now at Statfold Barn. Wonderful scenery as always. Thanks for a very enjoyable video! Best wishes. Ken
Many thanks Ken, glad you enjoyed the video. Yes I was lucky enough to get some shots of K1 on the 2014 charter and I think she was withdrawn not long after that. I'm sure the good folks at Statfold will do an excellent job on her and hopefully we'll see her in action once again
The railway recreates from time to time the early days. Slate would be brought down from Blaenau Ffestiniog in these wagons and gravity would carry them down to the docks at Porthmadog. Horses, and later, locomotives would haul the wagons back up
Incredible footage Austin! I work on a radio show that has a weekly 'Sounds of Wales' Quiz. Can we possibly use your sounds from this video to feature in our quiz?
Almost too much! I never thought I'd live to see the WHR running again, but here it is, looking like it's never been away. Brilliant filming and editing - thank you.
Thank you. Rebuilding the WHR was a magnificent achievement
Breathtaking! No human noises to detract from the wonderful sounds of the steam trains and scenery. Perfect choice of locations and excellent editing. Thank you for your effort 🙏
Thank you so much. It's certainly one of my favourite railways to visit. Glad you enjoyed the video
Thanks for 22 min. of viewing pleasure, Austin.
Thanks for enduring those 22 minutes! Glad you enjoyed it
The clip at 4:05 is one of the most incredible videos I have ever seen!
Thank you for your kind comments. The scene was filmed on a charter at the railway and we had a number of these staged runs but this one was the best of the lot
Wales is a very pretty county for making holiday. Your railways are wonderful there.

I once went to Statfold Barn for a privet day out, and we had Fiji to our selves all day!!! :-D Wonderful engine. :-)
It is a fine loco. The shot included here was taken on a charter at the WHR which ws excellent
Een genot om te zien.. De natuur. De infra-structuur. De smalspoorloks. 9:05 leuk gedaan.
Thank you for watching. It is a wonderful railway with spectacular scenery
Fantastic video!

Thanks very much. Always room for improvement though
I watch the color of the stack smoke on a lot of these FWHR videos and I must compliment the skill of some of the firemen.
Yes, the Ffestiniog does have some very skilled drivers and fireman
Austin, my favoured narrow gauge railway
Me too John, no other comes close
12:04. Why are the freight cars going down the hill with no locomotive?

Not so little Nina!

The Ffestiniog. The train is approaching Tanygrisiau

Hi. I'm an electronic musician from Warrington who would love to use sound samples of some of these trains in a track I'm working on. Is that okay?
