Went on the Railway last Saturday 26th Oct. A Brilliant experience amidst stunning scenery. This has been a lifetime wish to travel on the Snowdon Railway and I've finally done it a few weeks shy of my 70th Birthday, the best present ever in my lifetime.
I absolutely see why Wilbert Awdry came to a breath-taking railway that captures such mountainous lanscape in all of Wales. And why he based a neat _Railway Series_ book of it to equivalently advertise its suffice. Wonderful to promote a mountain railroad/railway making the premise of traveling, and railroading, a neat preliminary. Just think if Christopher Awdry had made a "Mountain Engines" book to counterpart as sort of a sequel to Wilbert's "Mountain Engines" book would be astounding to market. I humbly would suggest Christopher would base his book on the Manx Electric and Snaefell Mountain Tramway in the Isle of Man. I could kinda see where he would go to write out the settings to charter a new railway location, some new characters, and events to tie in what happened in the stories to make the book itself seem a bit constructive. Js
it's a nice ride up but I got a little scared on the way down thinking what would happen if the pinion became disengaged. My vivid sense of imagination gets the better of me sometimes!
I know what you mean. TRAPPED in a confined space with that noise for so long would drive me nuts. I'd be jumping off the train and heading up the path on foot if that was me!
I remember doing the journey with one of the steam engines at the back of the carriage. Once the train got underway on the inclines, we had no problem of noisy people... ... the engine sound drowned them out.
They are usually pushed up, with loco on the rear. The steam engines are unusual as the boiler is on an angle - so when it's going up/down hill its level. I'm local, and like a lot of locals I have never been on the train up. A lot of locals have never even been to the top walking or otherwise.
Walked to the top some years ago and yes what a walk ! The sourpussies wouldn't let on the last train down, they probably made well enough money that day. Waugh 😢 eh
nice views but had to turn the awful audio off...and what a rip off at £40.00 return trip....and £31.00 for the diesel train....plus the £6.00 charge for parking...will avoid the place...now far too crowded just look at that long line of walkers at 34 minutes....glad I walked up to the top of Snowdon via Crig Goch back in the 70's -80's...and the train did not even make it to the top so a double whammy if you paid full fair....
I think the fares are well worth the money. Where else would you get such mind blowing scenery in the British Isle? Don't be an old grump bag. You are the loser.

I agree with the previous message why didn’t the train go to the top of the line .

it's nice to take in the beauty of the mountain.
I'd like to do this excursion one day, preferably without noisy kids on board.
I know what you mean. TRAPPED in a confined space with that noise for so long would drive me nuts. I'd be jumping off the train and heading up the path on foot if that was me!
Well, why not go on the trip when the children are in school...

Lichtsignale bei d e r Geschwindigkeit?
picture of the train would have been helpful. eg was it a railcar or was it being pushed by a steam or diesel loco?

Who is that Engine in the begining?! Is it Ladas or is it some other engine or a rejected engine?
Ladas was totaled in that accident.
Ok., And By the way Though it Was just a theory i made when i Commented Who that engine Was at the beginning
Kyle Gamer 19 it was number 7 Ralph’s boiler

Why did train stop?
It couldn't go any further due to the snow being too deep at the top.
Thank you for letting me know, hope the cafe was open for those at the he top.

What's the function of the middle rail[s] inside the two outer rails?
Those ore for the cog drive system the tram has a cog with teeth and the two rails in the centwe is basically a flat gear that the cog meshes with,.

Were you informed before the start, that you would not be going to the summit ? If not, I would want my money back.
Yes, they told us when we paid for the tickets. They also cleared a lot of the snow off the tracks so we could go further up the mountain.
