Great Video! - here's a tip for aiming at a moving object - don't fly directly at the ship but aim ahead and try to keep the angle of the ship constant in your FPV view relative to centre frame . In this case hold the ship right of centre frame. If the ship tends to move more into frame steer left a little if it drop backs steer a little more to the right. That way you will fly a straight line and meet the ship without curving your flight and end up chasing up the stern . But who cares really? It's all for fun and enjoyable to watch!.

I have a Phantom 1. My friend Rick has a Phantom 2. I've been able to mod my Phantom 1 SO much further because I don't have to deal with the expensive proprietary batteries.
Why is the Phantom 3 better?
the day you fly a phantom 3 you will know why. from my opinion has much better range. just google phantom 3 long range flight and you will find that it goes much further. remember that i made this video long ago and technology changes fast with copters. plus it has lightbridge built in and the djipilot app has many many many more features that the phantom 1 can ever dream off. thanks for watching and if you have anymore questions contact me through my Facebook page facebook.com/djicopters thanks.

Yup liked your page on FB over the weekend and watched a video were you talk about your setup. Again, much appreciated. I bought my Phantom v1.1.1 last January and am totally hooked. Now I'm trying to soak up as much info as I can. I have the Tarot V-2D Gimbal, and now want a good first timer FPV. It won't be as nice as yours, but it helps me figure out whats available and at what price.

Great to see the range of the Immersion 5.8 gear. Im running a TBS Discovery with the same vTX (600mw) but with the fatshark dominators and built in vRX using the spironet clover/skewplanar antennas, ive been struggling getting the confidence up for more than about 400m due to live feed starting to break up. Ive heard that if you fly through it then the signal gets better. Your video proves this as you got some break up around the 400-500m mark but was perfect beyond that.
Great video and VERY brave over water ! ive had a fixed wing in the sea once (see one of my videos) but recovered it as it was foam and floated, the Quads wont float :)

Nice video. Just made my first flight tonight with my new Phantom. Once I master the controls and get really comfortable with the performance, I will probably upgrade to something like you have. I was so nervous flying it out of my backyard, and to see you fly yours out to the cruise ship. BALLS!!!! Great job.

I got my P2V+ a week ago and I'm using that WiFi booster app, which helps a lot, but I want more FPV range.
I mostly fly over water here in Newport Beach (Orange County, CA) since it's so thrilling and I'd love to go further.

That was an interesting excursion, I've always been leery of flying my drone over water like you did. Now that I have had a little bit of experience in flying with you, I think I'm going to try it, only for me I'll have to do it over Lake Superior, lets hope my luck holds out along with my batteries, lol.
