The DJI Phantom 2 Vision + is the latest and greatest DJI Phantom. It features a high-end and built-in camera and gimbal. *Note to new Phantom 2 Vision+ owners, or anyone thinking about getting one*: They are great, don't get me wrong, but as of this date (Nov 20, 2014) the manual that comes with them or is accessible online hasn't been updated since the Phantom 1. If you get a new P2V+, and the remote control has its own, rechargeable LIPO battery built into it (instead of the earlier version, which uses 4-AA batteries), there's something you need to know to connect it to your computer in order to use the Vision Assistant software which calibrates and can re-configure the controller. The current manuals (Pg 47) say to connect the controller directly to the computer using the supplied micro-USB cable. WRONG.

Here's what you need to do:
1. Use the supplied micro-USB cable to connect your computer to the port in the front of the quadcopter (under the little flap).
2. Turn on the controller.
3. Remove the gimbal clamp and lens cap from the camera.
4. Activate the battery in the quadcopter.

Once the quadcopter is on, the controller is on, and the quadcopter is connected to the computer via the micro-USB cable, THEN you'll be able to start the DJI Vision Phantom 2 Vision Assistant software and perform calibrations, and/or switch from the default "Phantom" mode to the more advanced "NAZA-M" mode, make configuration changes, etc.

Finally got mine yesterday...
Took two days to get to my country from China then sat in my country for a week due to customs and DHL screw ups... But got it in the end.

Hi, I am P2V+ (First in ITALY), had it for 2 months now. Great TOY.
I asked a guy and he told me GS was an optional kit to put on the ground to fly with Waypoints. Now thanks to you I discovered it was just not Flicked in the APP settings, and now is available.

I started with the Phantom FC40 by DJI, and so far, I have 33 flights in with it. I LOVE the FC40, it has a great little camera, and great features, however its getting time to upgrade to this baby here :) Thumbs up video!~John

Hey thanks for the nice demo. I was having trouble getting to the GS screen on the iPhone no matter how much left swiping I did. Then i discovered you have to enable GS and FPV in the settings from the initial page of the DJT Vision iPhone app. I'm really psyched to go out and try it now, thanks to your demo.

Great stuff once again! I tried Ground Station on my 3rd flight last night, seemed to do ok, lost wi-fi signal at 800 feet, hit come home and it did, I may have had my waypoints a little too far apart, but still playing.
It's so much fun isn't it? I'm trying to think go things to film next...prolly gonna do a small nine-hole golf course.
Question for you. On my iPhone the video feed is ok, but nothing like on the videos I upload, is that normal or am I doing something wrong in the settings on my phone?
David Evans The video you see on phone while flying will be degraded quality. When you upload to your computer you'll see the full HD. You're not doing anything wrong. Just know the area cause you may not see power lines and such on the screen while flying =)

For better flight control connectivity, bend the radio antenna 90 degrees to the right, not straight up. For better wifi reception, angle the flat end of the receiver so the wider surface area is pointing directly at the P2.

Great video! I have so much to learn... But first I was wondering if you would help me with something. I'm having a problem with my Micro SD Card. The app isn't reconizing the Card, it says "SD card error" and I have already formatted it. What do you think is wrong...? (I've tried ejecting and re-inserting a few times and I've turned it on and off the phantom, both of them didn't work).
Is there anyway of removing the 500m range on the Vision Plus? I heard the iPad App which supports this doesn't work with the Vision Plus, and that there was an Android App which will allow you go outside 500m but can't locate it online. Any ideas?

Quick question ,when you record/take pictures does it go straight onto your phone for uploading to you tube etc or do you have to plug in the cable to the gimbal and download to your laptop/pc then upload etc ....thanks mark
mark pulling It stores the videos and photos on the memory card, so if you share via phone it is sharing from there. To download for video editing on my computer, I use a microSD to full-size SD card adapter. Check the link within this video's description for the P2V+ and various accessories that I use.

Another similar question, is there any feature where the drone would "shadow" or follow the transmitter? Say for instance if you are transmitting from your car or boat and moving at a speed the drone could keep up with could the drone be programmed to follow your car or boat and possibly film the car or boat while you are driving/sailing?
Should it gain the height before proceeding to check points? From take off to first check point it didn't even get close to selected height.
how far can it go from the controller? like how many miles?
hello Need some advice I own a DJI phantom 2 Vision Plus drone but no able to use the Ground station app in DJI Vision apps using my Iphone I do th compass calibration but the problem is my Present location on the Map not seem correct position it been offset a little far from my present location I set my Dynamic Home point enable i have 11 GPS satellite receive, but still the present location is offset far to my present location ,what seem to be the problem i do not know so I am afraid to use the waypoint feature because afraid my Drone will land on different location as seen on my map in my ground station which is a little far from my present location may you can give me some advice how to do with this

Watching the video, it looks like the phantom went gradually up to the 200+ feet altitude you set for waypoint 1. I'm wondering if it would be best to set the 1st waypoint close to the starting/home point with the height you want it to be at so that it climbs at a higher rate? because there were some trees around you and if it didn't climb fast enough, you could've had some trouble.
Andrew E Good observation. Yeah and it may be a good idea to start the "Mission," after manually flying to a safe height.

Thanks for showing the way point app. I'll need to look into getting that. I have an "Age of Drones HD" video that shows some fun stuff with the drones. Attached a Wright brothers model to it in front of the camera. Flew good most of the time but crashed when the wind at the coast was too strong for it.

Satellite waypointing works only on iOS? Because my android smartphone doesn't have that (HTC One). I slide the screen but nothing happens. It's the most updated version of the app.
