Wow wow wow wow!!! Great view, and good thing you've take some cautions on this flight considering being at sight of an airport. Wow again. I Couldn't do that. Good thing to know that FPV is able to do this.
That is amazing, I never thought a mulitrotor (let alone a racing quad) can get that high, only fixed wing. Been proven wrong! I did a 4.2km climb with my flying wing some years ago. Now I will have to beat your record again! Also for the confused and misled, this flight had an insignificant risk for manned aircraft, the FAA and CAA of various countries came to the same conclusion that the probability of radius intersect of two full aircraft with random flight paths are 70m:1. Also, any full scale aircraft with have to deal with 1m times more birds that are heavier before worrying about a single 15cm object.
Nope, you will have to deal with 5000m. In our in-house tests, we reached that altitude. We believe that 5500 could also be possible, but we will need to protect the battery from cooling for that and that sounds tedious :(
Just curious I have one and the 500m kicks in , does it let you acknowledge and bypass? Plus for those that don’t know the drone notifies you when a plan is nearby I think it pings their transponders, I’ve seen this when flying below 400’ but when planes come by general vicinity.

I am amazed you got that high and back again on these batteries.. what was your total actual flying time? I got worried when I saw the contrails.... amazing footage though.. up and down
I had wondered when someone would take the FPV all the way up! 😄 was there a lot of paperwork to fill for authorities to allow it? gotta say it holds up VERY well for it's design.
But how were you able to circumvent the height limitations? I want to fly up mountains but they are higher than 500m. Is there some kind of hack or alternative firmware you were using?
You’re able to go up to X, height depending on your local laws. For example you’re able to go up X altitude from ground level. If you’re using a mountain as an example that is 400m and local law states 500m is the maximum for flying a done, and if you place your drone directly upon it’s peak and wanted to go higher you would legally be able to be flying 900m. Drop the slope and your altitude must drop to meet regulations. Everything is situational.
@@stantonsellers2137 I thing you are wrong, the 500meter altitude is not based on local laws, but a limit coded in firmware (you can configure less max altitude, but not altitude abobe 500m). It's truth that altitude is fixed based in home point, not distance to ground. I have the same question as @MBUG, how they get to go so high?

Because the air gets thinner the engines need to do more rpm and the drone calculates a wrong battery drain for the rth and starts to early with landing.
awesome - thank you for your arrangements with local authorities :) nice images!
Wow - crazy!! Glad you did this properly!
We believe that 5500 could also be possible, but we will need to protect the battery from cooling for that and that sounds tedious :(
@@IronManFPV Would like to see a YT video of...
Yeah, but the birds are flesh and bone, very light bone. Not plastic and metal with lithiumion battery inside them.
@@IronManFPV a lightweight insulation material like polyiso foam or aerogel would be good at keeping the battery pack warm
great ! you use the HAck to do this with enough

Sure in acro mode. And autolanding disabled.

Sorprendente la performance de este pequeño drone! 👍🏻
Just curious I have one and the 500m kicks in , does it let you acknowledge and bypass? Plus for those that don’t know the drone notifies you when a plan is nearby I think it pings their transponders, I’ve seen this when flying below 400’ but when planes come by general vicinity.
The drone receives ADSB data from aircraft but it doesn't "ping" them. It's a passive system.
Did you ever figure out how to get pass the 500 m ?
@@jadensmith9060 Really cold winter by me now so I haven’t been flying in awhile. Since this post I’ve seen others go way past 500m. Still not sure of the exact behavior of the craft above 500m though
@@coryteerlink1386 The normal firmware limits the drone to 500m. I'm pretty sure the drone needs to be hacked in order to go much higher than 50m.
Someone find a way to go higher then 500m yet?
hello There, congrats for the 4500M!!! can you share us how did you boost your signal that much? witch part did you use?
and How to put off motors when its flying that high ??
4.5km is only half of the advertised range. Also, you can enable a setting in the goggles to turn off motors while in flight.
@@ackack47 the range is really not that great and the signal is not that great to penetrate trees or concrete
like the other day i was trying to fly under a bridge the drone was like 300 meter away and i lost my video signal for 5 sec i almost shit myself 🤣
@@Frodokeuh The max I've gone with line-of-sight is about 5 miles. The radio range isn't my limit it's the battery. In sport mode, full speed 60mph it gives battery warning at about 60-70% because of my distance. I'll have to try flying in Normal mode to see if i can get more range and actually see if i can get to 7 miles or so.
@@ackack47 According to DJI, 25 mph gives the max flight time (20 min) and is the best cruising speed for distance (10.5 miles).
Well that is just AMAZING!! Thanks for sharing!

como logras configurar la altitud de vuelo? lo max que me sale en mi DJI FPV es 500 m, alguien me podría ayudar?
You need to have some mad faith that you keep a steady connection. Imagine losing connection at that height😱
The Drone would just come home by its own
DJI can keep connection beyond 10 kms

I now saw your video and I complimented you on a great pilot.🤙👏👏👏👏👏
That is awesome! I wish the video was streaming back telemetry so we could see the decent rate.
3:43 is that an airfield close by ? Cool flight but dangerous for commercial flights in the area if that is an airfield that I see. But as per highlighted mention (WARNING we've made all precautions, arranged this flight with authorities, and constantly checked the airspace) then should be all good. Amazing the drone can fly so high can see the curve of the earth WOW.
You cant see curvature from that hight. This curvature is because of the camera lens. Min hight to see curvature is arround 35000 ft or little more than 10km.

You have to manually reset the altitude of your craft and also fly with the GPS disabled.
@@kristoffaninkama3883 can it be done on other DJi models. Like the zoom2?
where is this place my friend?
I had wondered when someone would take the FPV all the way up! 😄 was there a lot of paperwork to fill for authorities to allow it? gotta say it holds up VERY well for it's design.
Nope
I'd just go do it who's gonna stop you out in boonville

Haha! Space = 100.000 meter... so it's 95 500 meters left... Keep going :)
There is one video 8km+-
The only way you could get that is by putting one on a big weather balloon lol
The air gets too thin for rotary wing drones pretty quickly

Muy buen vídeo, gracias por compartirlo.
Me puede decir a que altura sobre el nivel del mar está el sitio de despegue del dron?
Gracias.
But how were you able to circumvent the height limitations? I want to fly up mountains but they are higher than 500m. Is there some kind of hack or alternative firmware you were using?
You Fan Turn ist off
You’re able to go up to X, height depending on your local laws.
Amazing footage, very relaxing on the freefall.
You have officially blown Me Mind Mate.
Now I'm sure that earth is not flat
, thank you DJI.
I wonder if you found recapture some of that power from the props like hybrids do under braking?
Don't think they would since any reversed current pack through pdb and FC would cause components to burn and the entire quad would break

Thank you for your input! Is the FPV really able to keep itself stable via autorotation?
That's what I was thinking. Amazing.
@@shields-upfpv4873 Thank you. I've seen an FPV fall off and didn't get the impression that the center of gravity alone was enough to keep it stable in atmospheric conditions, that's why.
@@shields-upfpv4873 Well, he shut off the engines... I don't think throttle matters when there is no power going to the motors.
Quadcopters cannot autorotate as they don't have variable pitch blades.
